center console ides?
watchamakalit replied to fbtased2002's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have the same and fitted the XJ full console. Used a stainless soap dish to cover up the floor shifter plate. :D Surprised you settled for stainless and didn't spend hours searching for a chrome one Don. :rotf: :peek: -

I have a aw4 out of a 4.0L 4wd. It is 21 spline. Includes torque converter and possibly flex plate (gotta see if its there don't remember if I pulled it too) $100 plus shipping. I also have the matching 231 that I will throw in for another $100. They were pulled from a wrecked 89. Was running when wrecked. I do not know the mileage.

I would be interested in details. Wouldn't a simple jumper wire allow the low beams to feed power to the high beams also, causing them both to be on all the time no matter what?

I have now done a wiring upgrade on 2 MJ's, 1 XJ, and my CJ. Have seen good to amazing improvements on all of them. I did my CJ first and chose to go with IPF housings and H4 bulbs. This was a dramatic change and a worth while investment seeing as how I will probably never sell that old heep. Second was my old MJ and I also elected to go with the IPF housings to compliment the new wiring. Again a great upgrade. Next was the XJ which just got a harness upgrade. It was definately an improvement but not as great as the others. Lastly was my current MJ which got a new harness and Sylvania Silverstars (had to try them after all the hype). The silverstars were definately way better than the stock lights but not quite as nice as the ipfs but way cheaper too. Hope this helps. I have future plans of some H4 housings and higher wattage bulbs for the current MJ on down the road.

No pics but I have 2 12" Kenwoods in my MJ. Had to custom build the boxes and put the amp under the passenger seat.

Installing sound system on Comanche?
watchamakalit replied to CHINOTJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I don't have any pics and my setup is probably a little overboard. I have an aiwa head unit with a set of rockford fosgate 6.5" (?) in the door. And then a set of 12" Kenwood subs in custom boxes behind the seat pushed by a 1200 watt Kenwood amp. I am happy with the sound quality in the truck and it really isn't that noticeable outside due to the seat baffling alot of the sound. If you want to keep the room behind the seat I wouldn't recommend my setup. -
what's your take on antilock breaks?
watchamakalit replied to JeepcoMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Make the driver smarter not the vehicle. I know some make the argument that humans can't pump the pedal as fast as abs can. But I still maintain that if you educate the driver on how to control the vehicle they will be less likely to get into a skid and if you teach them how to handle a skid they will be less likely to panic and lose control. ABS, Traction Control, anti-roll stability, throw all that crap in the trash and just teach people to drive. -

Actually I found it locally at a garage sale last summer. It is a plastic one with a little sag in it. But it serves the purpose for now. -
Wow DEJAVU...... hows things here today. I am working on uploading pics of mine workin now.....

Time for a much needed update. I have moved, and that and some medical problems have slowed down my progress but the 4x4 swap WAS finished with the exception of a tcase linkage and I need to take 3" out of the front driveshaft. However in the middle of the move the AX-15 locked itself in neutral. So now its sitting in the driveway as I finish up the rebuild on the trans. I got the D44 swapped in. I have also aquired a $25 plastic toolbox for the bed and a trailer for hauling the firewood in so I don't tear up the bed any worse or risk a broken window. CB has been installed along with a 4' firestick on a custom mount on the toolbox. I don't have any pics to go with it as I forgot to take any.... Hoping to get the trans back together and have it back on the road this weekend. I will try to snap a few pics along the way. -
I have never had a problem with the any forum on my Blackberry. I surf multiple forums all day long on it and as the tech savy will know blackberry has one of the worst browsers of all the smartphones out today....

I am not for certain but I don't belive the metric tonne package part is true. This is a photo of a AMC20 under an '86 longbed 2wd with a 2.8L. As you can see by the spring packs it is not a MT

Cherry Bomb/Glasspack OR Flowmaster
watchamakalit replied to jeeplover88's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I am currently running a gutted cat through an old glasspack that was on the truck when I got it. Sounds ok but it has a real "tinny" sound to it sometimes. I just helped a buddy change out 2 40 series flowmasters with stock mufflers on his GTP (he is getting old). He gave me the 40's so I think I am gonna revamp my exhaust and run a straight pipe to a 40 with a turn down. I figure if sounds like crap I can always try some different combos. I think its the getted cat that's giving me the "tinny" sound. Almost sounds like a dirtbike after you wrap it out. -
If you have bbm 5.0 scan it and join in. If you don't have 5.0 go to bb app world and download it.

If you still have the visor off the gray truck, I would be more than willing to take it off your hands. -
Now that.......I just might have to stick some where......... :rotf: Oh.......and welcome to the CC :wavey: Glad to see you found your way over here to the dark side man. LWB stands for long wheel base. LB stands for long bed. If you still have confusion about your budget boost these guys are the ones to talk to. Welcome to Comanche Club come in sit down and have a cold one.

At home mine gets garage priority 95% of the time. Hell I let my CJ sit outside so the MJ can be in. But I figure if someone can figure out how to start let alone drive my CJ they are doin pretty damn good. At work my MJ is ALWAYS locked. And I work on a major street in town so my truck is very visible.
