Pete, is that a shortbed? Do you need to get rid of it to calm your buyers remorse? Sent from my KFFOWI using Tapatalk -

Steering column/ cruise control
watchamakalit replied to watchamakalit's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I had a temporary daily driver that was a loaded 99 GMC 1500. Really the only thing I miss is the cruise. So I feel it would be worth a fair amount of effort to obtain it. I'm running CV shafts in the front now. I plan to pull them for spares. Will the unit bearings from the hubs swap as spares? Ive made mistakes and tossed usable parts in the past that I wished I hadn't. Just trying to cover bases. If the steering components are in good servicable condition would they be usable? My truck is not a crawler. Just a well loved daily. I'm not planning to swap these parts immediately just saving for emergency needs. Steering column/ cruise control
watchamakalit replied to watchamakalit's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Man. I hope one day the stars align and I can shake your hand. You never cease to amaze with your intricate knowledge of the inner workings of these trucks. I hold you in very high regard sir. That said I have a very solid mechanical ability not afraid to tackle anything. Thus me driving a 30yr old truck for a daily. However the basis of where to start and components necessary is knowledge I lack. Do you have a link to the half write up so I could do some research? Steering column/ cruise control
watchamakalit replied to watchamakalit's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
So maybe I should just live without cruise? Lol. No a problem for me. Just thought it might be nice to have. Any write ups out there? I looked but couldnt find any. My multi function switch is broken in my current column. I was just going to install a new switch but then got to thinking maybe this would be a good time to add cruise control. Would it be easier and quicker to just swap in a different column? I have heard the cruise wires are a pain to snake through the column. Is a factory cruise control swap possible? watchamakalit replied to watchamakalit's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It also feeds the vanity lamps? I guess i don't know if those were working or not but I am guessing not. Looking like I'm not going to get into it tonight, might have to be a coffee project for the morning. -

Clutch master is not leaking. Its one of the first things I check whenever an electrical gremlins shows up. My build: https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?url=https://comancheclub.com/topic/8033-finally-found-onenow-it-has-a-new-floor/&share_tid=8033&share_fid=53169&share_type=t -

Leaving the jobsite this evening radio came on like normal. Before I hit the clutch to put it in gear the radio and lighter lost power again. I drove approx. one mile down the road and it came back on and began to function just fine all the way home. I really getting baffled by this one. -

I seems I may be obtaining a parts vehicle soon. Not really the way I wanted but you can't change history. Last night on her way home my daughter was texting and driving when she lost control and rolled her zj. Thank God for seatbelts. She walked away with scratches and nothing more. The jeep unfortunately wasnt so lucky. I havent hashed out details with her but I will probably end up with a parts vehicle. I thought the worst when I got the phone call. I am just as guilty of being distracted by a phone while driving, but this was a huge wake up for all of us. Way to close to home. Please encourage eveyone you know to put down the phone while driving. don't DRIVE DISTRACTED!!!!!! Sorry didn't mean to sound like I expected Pete to add it. What I was trying to do was ask if adding it to the registry was the correct action. Anyways it has been added.
