Another overheating nightmare
watchamakalit replied to VixJeep's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Plastic expansion tank cracked? The cap on the tank is also a pressure cap just like what most people think of when you say radiator cap. Most people don't realize that a cooling system needs to build pressure to be capable of handling the cooling needs of the engine. If it's not holding pressure it will overheat. The same attention needs to be played to the 50/50 mix of antifreeze and water.- 23 replies

The daily grind-brakes
watchamakalit replied to cruiser54's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Always bleed the complete system. Starting at the furthest point away from the master cylinder and working your way closer. This applies to any time you open the system. Trapped air=improper brake function. I have found on older vehicles often it will make significant improvements to braking just by bleeding the old system. -

I just had the same issue on my 89. Cleaned the corrosion off the connectors for the ballast resistor and the problem is gone. -
Lower Control Arm Options For Rubbing Tires
watchamakalit replied to TNCave's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I too am running WJ arms. I purchased new ones from rock auto. I was a huge improvement in the ride and handling of my truck, but my stock bushings were shot. -
Finally found one...Now it has a new floor.
watchamakalit replied to watchamakalit's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Well I haven't updated this much due to the $ factor, but the ball is rolling again. Yesterday I finished my wj upper and lower control arms and new upper bushings, wow what a difference that made. It stopped alot of quirky handling and really tightened things up. She also got new shoes before winter. I went with 31" general grabbers, these things are great in the snow and ice, and as good as an at tire will get in the mud. I had to put my original header back on, I broke the 97+ one I bought, it was a cheap china one anyways. I am now in the market for a set of 97+ doors, fenders, and header panel before paint.... I am gonna try and snap some pics today of her up to date, no promises though I am bad about remembering things like that. Lol -
Passenger Door Stuck Closed
watchamakalit replied to mpace6a's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
My driver dour has a funny trick to it. If I push the outside button when Its locked I have to unlock it from the inside. I haven't figured it out, but it works until I find some 97+ doors -

I don't know for certain whether there is a difference auto to manual for the front shaft. Shoot me a pm with some details on yours and we will talk.

I am in need of a front and a rear driveshaft for the refuge. I have a 4.0L/ax-15/231 shortbed with a D30/D44 combo. I am in need of these soon and if I can't find factory ones will have to order new ones. Would rather save some cash and buy older factory ones.

power windows and locks? cruise control? Did I stumble into a cadillac forum? LOL I had power windows, locks, and mirrors on my first MJ. It was nice but I got frustrated when the windows slowed way down one winter. I kinda like the manual windows and locks I have now. K.I.S.S. If I need a door locked or unlocked or the other window rolled up or down I just reach across. It is nice to be 6' with a wingspan to match. lol Now AC is one I can't live without......

Problems posting in for sale forum

Sorry. It is a new thread I am trying to create and it won't create it. Here is the page it gives me when I hit submit. ---http://comancheclub.com/forums/posting.php?mode=post&f=24&sid=0b0e4d2017d1f224d9934ef38e84a6f0--- If you want, I can copy the whole thread here. lol -
Pete I have a rather long and highly picture laden post I am trying to put up in the for sale section but for some reason when I hit submit all I get is a blank screen and it won't post. Not sure if something is jacked up with the board or what.

Easy fix. Just swerve before you honk and wave. :clapping: :D

LMAO!!!!!! I made the girlfriend watch it and she says "you boys get tickled over the silliest things". I said "yup". :rotf:

Junk it. As said before. IIRC the '96+ hoses will swap with the older ones and do away with the valve. Also make a good time to flush the heater core if not the whole system. And as mentioned you can either plug the end of the vacuum line with a golf tee or screw or you can trace the line back to the manifold (or wherever it draws vacuum from) and remove the line there and cap it with a vacuum cap available at any parts store.

Advice on aligning head lights

If you gonna junk those IPF lenses I will gladly take them off your hands... :brows: -
If you need a place to store that factory plow just let me know there is plenty of real estate on the front of the Junkyard Refugee to hold it. :brows:
