that sucks, glad they're ok. where abouts are you? can't quite make out the plate but if you're not too far i may help on the recovery fund...i could use the hitch and any good front clip parts still on it since i have the same color on my 99, but i'm guessing you're too far to make it worthwhile.

drove it...since the cherokee needs spider gears in the front axle.
-
i'll have to do that with LJ fog lights i have sitting around...

i also work in a shop, and we use some parts from autozone. it depends on what you're getting. pretty much everyone sells felpro for gaskets, so why pay more for the exact same product? however, we don't use their electronics and we don't use their brake rotors/pads. but, if you compare some products side to side (including cv half shafts), many of the parts are the same across every supplier, even having the same boxes with a different sticker slapped on. i've had similar problems to what you're describing from just about every parts supplier we use, and we have 8 different companies not counting dealers that deliver/sell new/reman parts to us. as for the rust after a couple years on rotors, i think a lot of it is salt or whatever is used in your area.

or IL, OH, WI, MN....

Very non MJ, why do folk get so excited by 'i' stuff?

:agree: I also use apple products and have for years. Why? Not because of the hype, I don't usually get into hype. I started using Macs for video editing back before every home desktop came with some editing software or another, and I've always been impressed with their reliability, stability, and performance while doing high-end processing. I'm currently typing on a G5 Mac machine from 2006 that, aside for a bad optical driver made by pioneer i had to replace, has given no problems since the day it was purchased new, including a significant amount of video editing time. my old computer was a 2002 G4 mac, which still works fine for my parents after originally being used in a high school video program, then being used by a friend for his amateur film projects, before going to me, all the while working flawlessly. are they the best computers? maybe not, but they are great machines for that kind of work and long term reliability. as for all the "i" products, they're fine. they do what they're designed to do, and do it pretty well. yes, they are overpriced, but aside from battery issues they tend to be reliable. as sam said, one of apple's strengths right now is their marketing game, but marketing alone will not drive the kind of success they have. they have good products that people like. as for the idea that apple users are snobbish, some are. but, i've also known some people just as snobbish in their hate for apple, and usually they can't come up with a good reason why. -
wish i could get that rather than have you scrap it, but we know how that worked last time...

:redX: i think it's my firewall though. what is it?

welcome, nice to see a few more mj fans in the area.

it's been 1 and 3 mostly, just moved to 4 a couple days ago, sorta. it's at the shop i work at and will be used as a mover for dead cars for awhile until i clean my garage out to make room for it.
-
at first i was like "wtf? how did they do that?" but then it all made sense. the thing that sucks about those interlocks though is when you're a mechanic and every few minutes you have to get the customer to climb in the car and do their thing.

took insurance off of it and transfered the coverage to a minivan... don't worry, there's some big plans in the works :peek: :wrench: :wrench: :fs1: :grrrr: :wall: :wrench: :wrench: :help: :wrench: :wrench: :wrench: :wall: :wrench: :wrench: :wrench: :wrench: :wrench: :wrench: :wrench: :wrench: :wall: :wrench: :wrench: or something like that

ball joint grease seal -- ripped

remove the knuckle but leave the joints in place -
sorry no first hand knowledge of it, except that i've seen the before and after of the rod being swapped by some shop. i can't find the link right now though.
-
yes it can be done, but finding somewhere to do it is the trick. i'm looking for the write up on it now. you could also do a WJ booster, which as i understand it doesn't require a rod swap. see this tread http://comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=26034&hilit=booster by comanche county, which has a couple other links.

you're proportioning valve rod is on wrong, it should be going vertical not horizontal from the driver side of the diff cover
-
wow, that almost makes me think those stock 5-stars might be worth more than scrap...nice job.

oh you mean the 100+ degree and humid we've had while working 60 hours a week in a shop wrenching? lots of water, and finding good reasons to go in the office that has a/c, or on test drives in cars with working a/c...
-
as much fun as that would be, i now get to be with my wife and 3 hour old son, Caleb! perhaps next time around i'll be able to bring him and his older brother along and get them started on MJ's young

i have that omix ada pipe sitting at work right now. we have a hydraulic pipe bender but no stainless, i could see if i can bend some regular pipe up to match, and if it works i could do stainless too. i know the fit is tight on those pipes, some shops won't even try bending it. using the one i have, i could figure out the lengths/bends needed, and make up a few if anyone is interested.

i'm out, have fun :wrench: and
-
only for fun of course, and to change the color of the dash ;)
-
replace oil pump and rear main seal.
-
replaced for cluster for full cluster...but the speedo cable broke, and the oil gauge doesn't work :fs1: yes, i swapped sending units.
