Comanche Fan (3/11)

  1. Recently got the wife an '04 Liberty, so I've been running her Neon as my DD. The Comanche sat for about a month until the tranny went out in my brothers Ram. I let him borrow it, and about 2-3 weeks later, it's developed this knock. I've gotten some opinions about what it could be, but wanted to see what you guys thought. '86 2.5. Not sure how long it'd been knocking before I found out, my Dad was actually the one that heard it and told him about it. He added a quart of Lubriguard 15w-40 diesel oil about 2 days before they noticed this. Any insight or opinions is appreciated, guys. Also, if the motor is in fact on the way out, what are some good options? Rebuild? Another 2.5? Some other swap?
  2. Remove the shifter knob, the cover, and the metal plate underneath. A 10mm socket (iirc) and about 8 inches of extension, and you can bleed it yourself sitting in the truck.
  3. Replaced the brake booster and master cylinder. Having brakes will take some getting used to. :wrench:
  4. Foghorn Leghorn reference? :laughin:

Those are easily the smallest 20 inch wheels I've ever seen.

    Gas prices

87 hit $3.23/gal over the summer here. Then seemingly overnight (just before labor day), BAM, $3.99. What's sad is that, when it hit $3.23, everybody was thrilled about how "cheap" gas was. :shake:

Back to $3.99/gal for 87. :ack:
  8. Very nice. (Go Steelers.)
  9. Yep, made it look easy. The 2.5 surprises me sometimes.
  10. My brother was towing the Subaru with the Dodge, but the 2wd wasn't having it up that hill. The Comanche made a nice tugboat.

    Oil change

I always assumed you got the oil warm so it flowed more freely, and were able to get most of the old oil to drain easier. I've never changed oil while it was still hot, but I've always done it warm.
  12. If you think it's a fuel issue, start with the easy stuff. How old is the fuel filter?
  13. I assure, the cap was fully seated and all of my work was inspected by a mechanic afterward, hence the passed inspection. I appreciate your concern, though.
