  1. Recently got the wife an '04 Liberty, so I've been running her Neon as my DD. The Comanche sat for about a month until the tranny went out in my brothers Ram. I let him borrow it, and about 2-3 weeks later, it's developed this knock. I've gotten some opinions about what it could be, but wanted to see what you guys thought. '86 2.5. Not sure how long it'd been knocking before I found out, my Dad was actually the one that heard it and told him about it. He added a quart of Lubriguard 15w-40 diesel oil about 2 days before they noticed this. Any insight or opinions is appreciated, guys. Also, if the motor is in fact on the way out, what are some good options? Rebuild? Another 2.5? Some other swap?
  2. Remove the shifter knob, the cover, and the metal plate underneath. A 10mm socket (iirc) and about 8 inches of extension, and you can bleed it yourself sitting in the truck.
  3. Replaced the brake booster and master cylinder. Having brakes will take some getting used to. :wrench:
  4. Foghorn Leghorn reference? :laughin:

Those are easily the smallest 20 inch wheels I've ever seen.

    Gas prices

87 hit $3.23/gal over the summer here. Then seemingly overnight (just before labor day), BAM, $3.99. What's sad is that, when it hit $3.23, everybody was thrilled about how "cheap" gas was. :shake:

Back to $3.99/gal for 87. :ack:
  8. Very nice. (Go Steelers.)
  9. Yep, made it look easy. The 2.5 surprises me sometimes.
  10. My brother was towing the Subaru with the Dodge, but the 2wd wasn't having it up that hill. The Comanche made a nice tugboat.

    Oil change

I always assumed you got the oil warm so it flowed more freely, and were able to get most of the old oil to drain easier. I've never changed oil while it was still hot, but I've always done it warm.
  12. If you think it's a fuel issue, start with the easy stuff. How old is the fuel filter?
  13. I assure, the cap was fully seated and all of my work was inspected by a mechanic afterward, hence the passed inspection. I appreciate your concern, though.

    Spotted

My girlfriend texted me these while she was out at Lowe's a few nights ago: :brows:
  15. Replaced the front, driver-side u-joint over the weekend. It was a PITA, but looking back on it, was a lot easier than it could've been: And the reward was a shiny new one of these:  And applied this before work: :clapping:

    NFL FA

Only places that make sense other than stayin in Denver, which won't happen IMO. Either a trade or release, he won't be on the roster by week 1. I would say Miami needs him the most, Jacksonville used a high pick last yr on a qb and Miami has now missed out on Manning and Flynn. Apparently Alex Smith has some interest in Miami, well see how that goes, but Tebow would be their next best option. I hope for San Francisco's sake that they can find a way to keep Alex Smith around, because he's the best QB on the market right now. They'd be fools to let Miami snatch him up. Smith and Tebow aren't on the same level, and I wouldn't mind watching Tebow squirm down in Miami or Jacksonville. The 49ers are a quality team with Smith. I'm really surprised with Manning's choice, but he's a smart guy, so I can only assume he went with the team he thought gave him the best shot to get another championship. I can't imagine he went with the top-dollar offer. I really thought the 49er's made the most sense, though.
  17. Pulling my brother-in-laws Dodge, pulling my brothers girlfriends Legacy, after the Dodge had gotten stuck in the yard. Piece of cake.
  18. New trackbar and tire balance did it for me.
  19. Dude, c'mon, man. You don't say "dude" and "man" in every sentence? I've been slipping and calling my dad "dude" a lot lately, and he doesn't seem to like it much. Wonder why? I like Stacey David, also. Yeah, he's obviously very scripted, but he does it so terribly that it makes him seem more human. Scripted isn't all bad on these shows, either, since you get great descriptions and explanations rather than some of the terms for things that might pop up in a real garage, lol.

$3.99 for 87 here. Can't afford this. I mean, I'm putting $10 in before work either way, but I'm running out further and further from home.
  21. Any Subaru.
  22. Not that this is the greatest idea, but it does work. Mine has been this way for months.
  23. In case it gets deleted: Some people.
