  1. Valvoline 10/40. I would say 10/30 us just too thin for any engine over 100k miles. I run the mopar filter and change it between 3 and 5k miles. If it starts to not look clean.. byebye. In summer when i went on a big overloaded road trip i put in a qt of lucas stabilizer and it seemed to really like that alot. Oil pressure was more consistent overall despite it being 110 out and me going 85 the whole way with the AC on high.
  2. The question is why? if its working up front and theres no issues.... why fix what aint broke. More lines more coolant more bubbles and issues. This truck is bad @$$. I'm always on pirate and i didnt see it there or here. Guess my brain failed to function. :) NICE rig dude.
  3. Possible fuel pump resistor issues. you bypass it yet?
  4. Nope. Air ratchet and wrench and 2 swivels and i changed the driver mount from laying right under the truck in literally 5 mins. didnt have to take anything else out. Passenger took a bit longer cause of oil filter mount.
  5. Can sell that junk diesel to some of the guys on here and make you both happy. There are a couple guys who really dig em and could prob use the parts.
  6. welcome to CC
  7. sad to see one crushed but it helped others stay alive.
  8. Cool update. Good to see its gettin love. I saw whos screen name it was and went.. uh ohhhh. I imagined the last page it would be 4wd lifted and locked and crawling around on some rocks. lol.
  9. "mount" or "mountS" ? do both together. :) easy as pie. driver is done entirely from under the truck and is easier than pass side due to lame oil filter location...as was mentioned.

  11. Yeah have the machine shop rebuild your head and boom... good to go.
  12. Harmonic balancer may be roasty toasty.. and or now that trans sits higher you may have some Ujoint issues that have now showed their ugly head. How are your motor mounts? trans is higher now and engine may be too low. New engine mounts will bring angles all back into spec.
  13. Lifters may have been over extended due to loose rockers. So now all the valves will be hanging open. BUT you should get some cool backfires when cranking if so. If you go out tmrw morning and it starts right up... its cause the lifters bled back down overnight. But what was said is good. check spark and fuel and then go from there. Basics always finds the answer.
  14. There are some good deals to be had on your local/semi local CL for previously built stuff that someone is selling, IF thats the route your after. If you wanna do work, you can get axles out of junk yards CHEAP. At my local picApart any axle is 137 bucks. So i could go get tons tmrw and be stoked. BUT of course then have to clean em and prep em to go under my truck and redo gears and add lockers and axles or whatever i thought i may need. That would be my way cause my labor is free and when i hit the trail thats hard enough to require those axles on my truck, i want to know EVERY part inside them is new. If your goin beast status.. do a 14 bolt and 60 front. cut them fenders out and put some 42s! :D
  15. thats a sweet XJ. :)
  16. Links for the parts your gonna install? i wanna save em for future reference. :)
  17. Well... how much interference are we talking about here? Measure it and then the decision can be made on what to do.
  18. Make sure to take note of which cyl and positioning of where this was in/on the block. Cause machine shop will need to check in that spot for the most wear/max bore size. To determine how much needs taken out to get back to a circle. Many factors could have caused it but the main issue is what i just mentioned.
  19. I would say you can't get hurt at 700 no matter what. Grab it for that and get started fixing it. :)
  20. RIP lenny. Jim i can say that i know your pain well, i lost 4 friends in 2012. Its been a rough year.
  21. damn.... that looks clean
  22. whaaa? A new trans mount fixes this issue and.. its 30 bucks for the mount and about 8 bolts and its out. I changed mine in my shop on the floor with a jack and 3/8 air gun in 15 mins. step 1 support transfer case with jack, step 2 remove cross member bolts step 3 remove trans mount bolts. reverse order and its done. Now exhaust sits over an inch from the cross member instead of laying ON it.
  23. Sounds good. Ill advise my clients and anyone who asks whats right and... despite the fact that you do the same in your rig.. you can... disagree? :hmm:
  24. I could go on for pages about the differences but i tend to get sidetracked with pertinent info and my reply loses the punch it needs to make sense. So with todays people giving near ZERO credit to anyone they know who may know something and type it out, its easier to post a relevant article so readers can digest it at their pace and neutrally. Just the anti foaming properties alone that are needed in a manual trans is enough to negate the use of engine oil inside it..EVER. http://www.bestlubeusa.com/gearlube.pdf
