The "get Me By" Mj Truggy
mountainman replied to cgmrdc's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
Gonna be a SICK rig when finished. The only whine i have is, i wish you could have come acrossed a more beat rig. That was WAY too nice a truck to destroy. BUT... its better than it being donated by some jackass and end up in a crusher. :) can't wait to see it all done. -
The dog is likely close by. I doubt the thief would keep the dog in the car cause the dog probably wasnt very happy that it wasnt his owner in the truck. i hope the thief chokes on his next meal and dies and they find the truck and dog unscathed.

87 Lwb $750 So. Cal.

vanilla the manch. hehhe. Thats CHEAP man. Hope someone from here grabs it. I'm surprised you guys don't have a "don't post CL ads" rule. Cause someone may be watching that, and now its gonna get WAY more attention. Hopefully some dip$#!& doesnt call the guy and tell him its worth more. THAT sucks when it happens. -
And you havent factored in management and tuning either. Stock ECU won't run the bigger engine properly. I mean, with so many other wheeling machines out there having less HP than our 4.0s have, i don't know why people spend so much money building strokers for these. :dunno: 200 HP and 225 torque is no joke. These toyotatards wheel with 90 hp and 130 tq. and they put tons and 40s on with that much HP. lol Its your rig and your money, but id say clean it up and maybe put a slightly bigger cam in it and put it back together and drive it. As has been said.. more enjoyable to drive than sitting there.

uuggh... this thread disgusts me. That manch wasnt even bad at all and it got torn apart? Some peoples kids.

I'm going with 10-15 in vegas. Ive seen about 7 myself while driving the roads each day. Ive never seen harleys so thats 1, then ive been to jeremy's house and seen his in person and then mine. And with 3 in the junk yard alone, that shows how many are around here in a 2 million person town with TONS of transient folk moving in and out each month and bringing their vehicles with them. Saw a silver one on friday with a factory roll bar. If i wasnt headed to an event in my bus i would have turned around and chased em down. But he would have been like.. WTF. lol. In my manch would have been easier. I have 2 friends in vegas who are dying to get one now that they have ridden in mine. lol

Question. What "performance computer" did you have? This interests me cause when i rebuild my motor I'm gonna do a cam and mild porting and i want the tune to be spot on for the small upgrades. I just don't think a "chip" is gonna do it. I will likely end up with AEM ems and my own harness and a sweet tune. But thats quite a chunk of cash i could spend somewhere else and leave the stock motor alone. I'm quite happy with its power level now. -
2000 Xj Oil Pressure Issue
mountainman replied to boardmanMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
^^^ this. Borrow a mechanical oil pressure gauge from autozone or your local parts house and do an oil pressure test. And when you do make sure you run the motor for at least 15-20 mins to get "hot" results. Then if its low youre probably looking at a new oil pump and pickup to start. While you have the pan off (IF thats the case) look for metal particles in the bottom of the pan. That will tell you if just your pump took a dump or if you have deeper (bearing) issues. You could have a big sludge island floating in there and its getting stuck up against the pickup. Keep us posted. I wouldnt drive it AT ALL till i had done the oil pressure test. -

Preferred Oil / Weight
mountainman replied to Butchershop's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Very nice. Good to see that from factory. i have considered 20/50 but i would only go that route as a bandaid for a very high mile engine with oil pressure thats below where i wanted it. The guy i got my truck from is into old indian motorcycles, heavy equipment and old vws. So since he got this MJ he always changed the oil with straight 40 wt. Which cracked me up cause thats NOT the oil i would ever put in it. But it has enjoyed a "clean oil" life and is in great shape. He changed the oil pump and sender cause he got scared as the oil pressure kept going UP after 150k. lol! He thought there was something wrong. -
Preferred Oil / Weight
mountainman replied to Butchershop's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The zddp content only matters if youre breaking in a new cam anyways. These ancient engines with 9 million miles on the cam and lifter faces, the surfaces are so hardened that your not gonna hurt anything by having less zinc in the oil now. Thats another industry fact. Same as 10/30 is so watery... its just about useless in anything other than these tight tolerance brand new engines. Its only suggested in this country for EPA laws and to hit mileage/MPG ratings. For example... the honda s2000 (i build them for much of my living), honda only recommends 5/20 and 5/30 in this country. To hit the stupid mpg standards. A 240 hp 9000 rpm 2.0 puts much more stress on the oil than 10/30 can handle. So in every other country the engines are recommended to get 15/40. HMMM,,, interesting ay. So as i said before, not to harp on anyone but i wouldnt put 10/30 in one of these 4.0s if you payed me. Its just too thin. Youll see a torque increase and a quieter engine all around if you move to the next weight up. Now if you live in alaska where the engine never warms up... then yeah i can see running water oil cause its gonna stay quite thick in that climate and the thicker oil is just gonna resist flow on sub zero startups.
