Swapping BA10 with TJ ax15/np231
88whitemanche replied to Poley 77's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Wrangler clocking is not that bad to not fit our trucks... Most guys here would agree it's better clocked up than down going off-road so you don't break your transfer case... I did an ax15 on my 4cyl with a 93 yj ax15 converted to external slave... I just had to hammer the tunnel to fit the transfer case but it wasn't too bad of a job.... Pics... Picture angle is not the best but I have about 1/2" space before any contact.... -
Front is direct swap...rear has to get the spring perches welded for the Comanche wether you want spring under or spring over....

Hope to see a review on the true trac... You did the gear install yourself?

As far as the gas tank leak it could be just as simple as the oring at the sending unit...but verify first that it's not the tank that's leaking....

Newer brake calipers...
88whitemanche replied to 88whitemanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I probably can but It would still be extra work I wouldn't want to mess with... Knuckles, calipers, unit bearings, pads, rotors preferably... -
Newer brake calipers...

Newer brake calipers...
88whitemanche replied to 88whitemanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Well this axle is in my Currently in my Cherokee and in order for me to get a correct geared front axle it would have to be geared to 4.10s which is RARE in south Florida or in any Jy for that matter...and the cost of regearing is just not worth it for me just for brakes... Do you know if I have to change out the unit bearings as well? -
Newer brake calipers...

No just to have the stock calipers and no anti rattle clips... Plus when parts break on these older axles it's harder to source than the newer ones in the Jy -

99 Cherokee 2 Door, Black Unicorn
88whitemanche replied to dancome433's topic in Member Projects: Other Cool Stuff
Yea me too, although lately I've been seeing them more and more driving around but they're usually 2wd, but I have still yet to find a 97-01 2dr in a junkyard, And funny you say that, I'm actually thinking about converting them to power if I can get all the parts together, I know most people do the opposite, but I think I would just like the convenience, then again it's just an idea right now and only if I were to find the parts which is not that easy, I've only seen 3.... 2 I picked the rear axles out of and the 3rd I walked passed but should've grabbed the complete doors for spares. In which was half off day I would've take both for under $100... -
I also had an experience on a hood release cable...after the new one was installed the first pull it snapped! I installed it after 3 weeks after I received it...I filed a claim and a week later the new one at my front door ... At first they were asking me to return shipping but I went back and said I wasn't going to pay shipping back and they sent a link for shipping back...

Just mainly the overdrive option... If your staying stock height and tires overdrive will help out a lot for fuel economy if you have the 4.10 rear axle... You may have the 3.55 gear ratio axle...some say it's decent some say they don't notice the difference...

Irrc these liberties used the ax15 trans...you may have been just lucky enough...

No there must be a power wire grounding out somewhere...

AMC20 / D44 Axle value/worth question(s)
88whitemanche replied to Bonkers's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Man at least you get a choice of the 2 best axle options...id go for the amc 20 for the 4.10 gears... I picked mine up from the Jy for $140... But for a 5speed on stock tires 3.55 is always better than 3.07s... -
