  1. Nice! Must've been a lot of fun... There's no dunes here but could imagine a lot of fun to run around in...
  2. They should have a small set at autozone or advance or even Napa if they are close to you... I got mine at harbor freight
  3. You need an E12 socket for the top 2 bolts
  4. I guess it all depends how you use it...I know a guy who set up used gears into his d30 front axle...He's on 13" of lift and 38s and been running it for 10+ years and goes off-road with no issues... it's his dd and He still had the cad axle
  5. I got lucky to have a 4cyl Comanche with 4.10s... Since I'm planning to regear the comanche to 4.88s I figured why pay twice to regear and just swap axles...
  6. Sweet! $100 is a steal! Here's mine when I picked it up...from a 2 door 98 2.5 5 speed Image Not Found Don't have pics of the actual 2 door...I should've though... Oh and gas mileage is WAY better!
  7. Great axle...I currently have one under my 98 2door 4.0 ax15...paid $220 out the door for mine so your getting a steal! Great amount of torque back especially on 4.5" lift and 32s.... Is it an auto or manual 2.5? I found out that the 97+ 2.5 auto has 3.55 gears

  9. What transmission and transfer combo are you going for? Boostwerks transfer case linkage is best bang for your buck depending on your combo....
  10. There was a guy on this forum that cut the front half of a Cherokee and put it together with a Comanche cab back and welded it together...I wonder if that truck still exist.... But the way he did it would be the only way to obtain the parts and work needed....
  11. Finally got my quadratech rear cargo liner... It's already saved me a bit of a mess from this New Years resolving a locker issue...
  12. Checked the front end this morning.... Crunchy brake anyone?
  13. This is the best pic I got.... But I got an issue...for some reason my brakes are non existent... Might be the old system not working or something and I'm getting a really bad clunking off of the front right side...idk if that's the brakes or the locker.... Will check the details tomorrow...
  14. So I removed my 4.10 Dana 30 off my Comanche to place under the Cherokee since I'm already going to regear the Comanche to 4.88s Why pay double right? Dana 30 removed from the Comanche.... Lokka locker Solid diff cover Painted and ready to swap in... Also picked up some brand new adjustable upper and lower control arms for a STEAL! Got the axle and suspension dialed in.... I'll get more pics of the final tomorrow and it's already dark.... It looks really good with the 4.5" coils up front
  15. Well the Comanche has been sitting on jack stands... Came into a dilemma with the rusty's adjustable control arms... 1st off I bought these rusty's control arms through a friend used...and when I installed them just to move the joints took a 7k pound f250, his 6" front pipe bumper, 2-18" pipe wrenches and a 6' foot pipe to move it 1/8" a turn.... So I took them to a machine shop to remove them since they were pretty stuck in place.... So I went to put in the new joints. They weren't going all the way down on one of the control arms and tried figure out why till I looked down the hole.... Good one... Bad one.... So I've been to 5 machine shops and none of them "tap" anything that big of hole... I had to order a 1.25" x12 tap So I'm waiting on that to rethreads the arms
  16. It is called the amc 20... It was also used in cjs, full size Cherokees, and j-series trucks Here's a thread that gives a good amount of info... http://comancheclub.com/topic/45147-amc-20/?fromsearch=1
  17. If it works let us know the thread size and where you got it? My rear valve hasn't worked and I'm looking to eliminate it myself...
  18. This guy was on Cherokee forum a few years ago.... http://www.cherokeeforum.com/f64/hello-russia-149812/index2/
  19. Can I switch it with an XJ/MJ one? Do you have to unbolt from transmission or can you push down and rotate and switch shifter? You're correct. No unbolting is necessary. There's a spring loaded 'bushing cap' that holds the lever in place. You just push down and, I think, rotate counterclockwise and the shifter will come off. It'll take you both thumbs to compress the spring to rotate. Use mechanic gloves because you can cut yourself doing it. I keep reading that some say the shifter from an xj won't work, they are different, one is shorter than the other or something, not sure if that is just the yj and not the tj though. Yes you can...there's a YouTube vid on how to remove the shifter like sloride mentioned above... I switched my shifter assembly over when I did the ax15 swap from my ax5 .....
  20. What's up fellas Since I've picked up this 98 xj 5speed 175k miles...I've noticed a valve chatter? when warm... Where it will chatter around 1800-2200 Rpms right where I'm about to shift into the next gear... Under/over those Rpms the noise diminishes, and it doesn't do it when cold.... Anyone has any experience with This? I've checked other forums and different scenarios, and YouTube to find the noise I'm having and with no luck...
  21. Johnny quest has one... http://comancheclub.com/topic/29713-88-comanche-chief-the-unitruggy/page-6
