Did you install a "switch" or a "sending unit." There is a difference. A switch just turns on/off the idiot light. The sending unit sends a signal to the gauge which translate it to read the pressure. In your first post, you said "Changed pressure switch." Was it a switch or sending unit?

You can swap the individual gauges from one cluster to another.

I suggest test the CPS. See Cruiser's Tips for Renix engines.

What year was the YJ you got the tcase from? The output shafts changed at some point in Jeep history. As for the front drive shaft, the lengths are different between a manual and auto trans. An AW4 is longer than an AX15. That means a DS from an auto will be too long for your manual. Sorry.

Welcome to the madness. Oh, I guess you have been there from the beginning. Do you remember mine coming off the line? :laughin:

Sounds like a PO has made all the necessary changes already. Since it was born a 2wd and is now a 4wd, the things I would suggest you check are: What trans is now in it? An 88 4.0 5 spd. would have come with a BA10/5. Is it still a manual? Is it an AX15? What is the tcase? The most common is an NP231. Although, a NP242 can be found. Is it part-time 4wd(231) or full-time 4wd(242). Look at the tcase shifter. What front axle was installed? Most likely a Dana 30. What are the gears: 3.07, 3.55, 3.73 or 4.10? There maybe a tag on the diff cover that will say. What is the rear axle? It probably came from the factory with a D35 and 3.07 gears. Although, it could have a D44 (more desirable) but still 3.07 gears. Picture looks nice. Welcome to the madness!

Manual to Auto Transmission
87MJTIM replied to JeepFanactic's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The 87 to 89 1/2 had the BA10. From 2nd half 89 to 93 the MJ/XJ/YJ came with the AX15 with the internal slave set up. From 94 on, the AX15 came with the external slave. I would recommend the 94+ XJ if you just want the trans. Other parts are HO 4.0s. You can use some of the parts, but not all. Also, the tcase that came with the BA10 has 21 splines. The AX15 uses 23 splines. You will need the matching tcase with the AX15. Or, you could rebuild the 21 spline tcase to change the input shaft. For a Youtube video, check out Bleepinjeep for this change -
So far, Sherman seems to be the only panels close enough.

Any year XJ that came with an AX15 will make a good donor FOR THE AX15. A YJ with an AX15 has a different clocking for the tcase. -
Replacing Slave Cylinder in BA 10-5
87MJTIM replied to buckwheat's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Sorry for the confusion. I hope you were not offended. It is just that the shift tower on the BA doesn't come apart like the AX. -
Thanks for the responses. However, I have read that XJ panels do not fit: wrong profile and too long for the MJ. Also, I do not do rock crawling. My MJ is 99.999% street. I am not looking to get rock guards. Thanks anyway.

I am leaning towards the Sherman panels. Are there other suppliers besides these two?

No brakes whatsoever

Sorry, I could not resist. BTW, English was my foreign language in school. With the hissing sound, I would say you booster is shot. The master may also be allowing fluid to pass the piston. So both may need to be replaced. If the master and booster are original, you could look into do a master/booster upgrade from a 95-96 XJ. This will involve a total bleeding of the system. If you still have the by-pass valve, there are multiple bleeding steps to perform. Search the DIY section on how to perform the steps. Good luck. Again, sorry 'bout that, Chief. -
I have read through several threads on replacement rocker panels. I have also googled the parts. What I found on the 'net is that there are two makers of these parts: C2C and Sherman. I gather from the other threads that C2C are not good fits/matches. Sherman seems to be a better match. Can anyone confirm this? I will search for a parts vehicle, but all the MJs are just as old as mine. They may/will have the same issue with rusted rockers. Here is my issue. I finally got my truck back from the body shop that did the work two years ago. I had to take in back in early Sept to have them correct issues they did fix properly the first time. (rusted floors  It took them 4 months to get it back to me. Not because of the amount of work, but because they didn't want to work on it. I was told I wasn't a priority!) While it was in there, I pointed out some paint blistering on the drive's side rocker panel. The tech told me it is rusting from within and that it will need to be replaced in the future. (They won't be doing it!) So now I am starting my search for the parts. Does anyone have first hand experience with Sherman? Are there other suppliers besides the two I found? Thanks

I see lots of AX15s on craigslist. They are usually listed from $300 to $500. Not sure where in VA you are. -

It terrible when no one cuts me a break, especially when my truck has no brakes -
87 5sp but what engine? 4.0 or 2.5. If 4.0 and a stock trans, you have BA10/5. Most people will say it is not worth fixing. Look for an AX15 from a later model XJ, preferable one with an external slave. If 2.5, then it would have come with an AX5. Beyond that, I don't know.

Replacing Slave Cylinder in BA 10-5
87MJTIM replied to buckwheat's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
That is why I switched to an AX15 w/ external slave. My MJ was on its 5th internal slave cyl. I have always said it was not getting a 6th. -
Replacing Slave Cylinder in BA 10-5

JeepsOLot: From your signature line, I don't see a BA10 listed, or Jeep that would have even come with a BA10. The BA is diff from the AX. -

1. Slide the boot sleeve up. There are four ( ?) bolts that hold the shifter to the trans. Just lift the whole thing up. Put a cover, like foil, over the opening to keep stuff from falling in. 2. As Gogmorgo said, it is held by ball-n-socket connectors. It may help to loosen the bracket on the trans/tcase side to give some room to pop the connections. The bracket is held on by two nuts that hold the tcase to the trans. 3. Four bolts hold the trans to the engine. However, there are lower bolts that hold the dust cover to the bellhousing. Also, the two bolts that hold the starter. 4. I did an AX15 swap last Sept. Here is my thread on the swap. I may have some tips on dropping the trans and tcase. http://comancheclub.com/topic/48136-my-ax15-swap/ Good luck. -
Not currently. The XJ is parked at a mechanics shop (who signed it over to me). I will be back there in approx. 2 weeks.

Pulled from a 93 XJ. It has a tan/beige interior with the wood grain door panels. Unfortunately, the doors are manual windows and lock, not electric. I cannot use them.

I purchased General Springs 3:2 leaf pack. These raised my bed approx. 2 - 3" from the sagging old leaf pack. See MJOM July 2014 for pictures.
