  1. The "Jeep Wave" as I understand and practice it: Drivers of Jeep CJ/YJ/TJ/JK/JL wave to one another. Typically, with the left hand resting on top of steering wheel, the drive raises 2 to 4 fingers to acknowledge another Jeep driver. Other forms of waving are acceptable. Some websites say that the younger Jeeps (JL/JK) wave first to the older Jeeps (CJ/YJ). Although, I have initiated the wave from my CJ to "younger" Jeeps. There is no "official" Jeep wave to/for other models. However, while in my MJ, I wave to XJs and MJs, but not to other model Jeeps. I started this thread because I got a Jeep Wave from a Gladiator driver. It got me thinking....
  2. In my CJ, I wave to other CJ/YJ/TJ/etc. In my MJ, I will wave to XJs (though not all wave back) and other MJs (few that there are). There are not cross waves, however. I just want to get a felling for others on CC.
  3. While driving today, I passed a Gladiator. As it was going by, I realized the driver was giving the Jeep Wave. I did not. Not out of disrespect, but I just didn't think about it. This got me wondering: Do other MJ drivers wave to Gladiator drivers?
  4. I'm having issues getting into 1st and 2nd while at a stop. I will shift through the gears to finally get it into 1st - with force. There is no grinding or sounds while getting into gear. I have a clutch master/slave combo kit. There is no bleed screw at the slave cyl. I found this youtube video on bleeding a hydro clutch that does not have a bleed screw. I did not remove the whole system to try some of the steps. I just unbolted the slave cyl and tried pumping it from below. No one was with me, so I could not see if bubbles came out. It did shift easier (for a while). I'm thinkin' of swapping out to a bleedable system.
  5. The TPS is pretty simple. Two torx screws attach it to the throttle body. You will need to adjust it to function properly. See Cruiser's Tips for the steps. You will need a multi-meter to set it. The CPS is bolted to the top of the bell housing. You will need some ratchet extensions and some patients. Also, see Cruiser's Tips.
  6. Fixed my reverse lights
  7. As someone who is self-employed, and works with business owners who are self-employed, I can tell you (and everyone) that being SE is two jobs. One is doing the work that earns you money. The second is doing the accounting/record keeping that lets you know how your business is doing. If you are not good at the second, then hire someone who is good at it. Think before you leap.
  8. A PROPERLY MOUNTED AX15 bolted to a PROPERLY MOUNTED 4.0 should not be sitting as far back as yours is sitting. I have to guess that there is something else wrong that is pushing everything back. (Just throwing stuff to see what sticks.) Were the motor mounts changed that pushed the engine back? (Although there is not a lot of room to do that.) Is the bell housing correct for the trans? (A BH that is too long would not explain have to cut the input shaft tip.) Is the trans an AX5 (not a 15)? I don't know what the length difference is .

    Need help

Your location would be a big help. It will let other members that are close to you come and look at your MJs. As Richard (Drahcir) said, give info about the trucks: yrs., engines, transmissions and RUST (if any).
  10. Do a self assessment. What other interest do you have? Is there something else that you have wanted to do/try? What training/certifications are needed to work in that field? Do you know others in that field, either directly or through other connections? Try contacting that person and talk with them about the work. Would you be willing to relocate to pursue the new job? Contact a local college or trade school and speak to an adviser about options.

    AMC tribute XJ

I know this is not the correct location to show this, but I want a lot of people to see it. https://harrisburg.craigslist.org/cto/d/elysburg-1994-jeep-cherokee/7044687902.html I'm not sure I would want it. Actually, I am sure I DON'T want it. 1994?!?! Someone should tell the seller that AMC sold Jeep to Chrysler in '88
  12. Brown Santa delivered it early. I set it up and played with it some - lifted my CJ off the ground. I will use it this weekend to change the oil in several low profile cars - Subaru Legacy for one. Probably won't get to really test it until spring, when the outside temp warms up. The real Santa delivered the truck adapter kit.
  13. What transmission did you have originally - BA 10/5 or AX15? (89 was a transition year from the BA to AX.) You need the cross member for an AX to work. The MJ has the holes to fit either the BA or AX cross member. I can see the extra holes in your photograph. The drive shaft will have to be shortened to allow for a tcase. The DS from the XJ will not fit. Something doesn't seem correct with your description and photos. The BA and AX are roughly the same length. Yours should not sit that far back. Did a PO make other "mods" to the truck?
  14. Quickjack 5000. Thanks Costco
  15. Does it crank, just not fire? Is it getting fuel? Do you hear the pump priming when you turn the key? You're at Auto Zone. Get a fuel pressure gauge and test FP. Fuel filter clogged? How old is it? Test the CPS with a multi meter. See Cruiser's Tip on testing the CPS. (I know Cruiser's Tip are Renix oriented, but the CPS testing is universal.)
  16. www.delcity.com Wire connectors and quick splices Lots of choices.
  17. The clutch safety switch was add in the late 90s, long after automatic NSS. The MJ/XJ never had it.

    In demand

I found a note like that several year's ago. I still have it, LOL. (I have not call the number back yet.)
  19. Correct me if I'm wrong, but JMO is showing pictures of the internal slave/throw-out bearing. The OP is converting to an external slave cylinder. The TOB is completely different.
  20. Just found this on Youtube:
  21. Someone save that Willys, please!
  22. Sending units are no longer available. You will have to reuse your old one.
  23. The top photo is for the windshield washer pump to a rear window sprayer. It's a hold-over from XJ wiring. Jeep had one harness for both MJ & XJ windshield washer systems. The second picture is hard to see what it is.
  24. That would only apply if you were to use a master cylinder for a 98+ XJ. Look at one on Rockauto and you will see the diff. The mounting bolts are in a diff position than earlier master cylinders. The one I showed is plug-n-play
