I cut notches into them just big enough for the hooks. Make a cardboard template once the hooks are in and trace the cutouts onto the air dam (mark a fastener or something so you can line up the template correctly), a fresh utility blade will work. You can also drill holes at the corners to terminate your cuts.

If those are vinyl they might melt if the lights are on long enough. I've seen Marchal fog light covers that were melted.

'86 are different but from what I remember they will fit any long bed. They changed in '87 when the SWB came out so the same mounts can be used for both.

The military wrap has the second leaf also wrap around the front bushing to form the eye, see the picture above. It just makes the spring stronger in the front portion.
