  1. Disagree entirely. There are many, many situations where all I need a yes/no answer from someone. Best part, I now have a written record of the response so if I forget a few hours in the future, I can just look it up. If I know the response is going to require a longer, lengthier answer, I will call. We'll have to agree to disagree then. Just don't do it while driving...
  2. Couple of things come to mind. 1. Is the fuel pump kicking in when you turn on the key? you should be able to hear it. It's possible it burned up. 2. If it is kicking in, check the fuel rail to see if there is a bleeder valve on it. Should look kind of like a tire air valve. If it has one, take the cap off it and hold the needle in. (Careful it will squirt gas if there is fuel pressure). If it doesn't squirt gas immediately, then have someone turn the key to the on position without trying to start. Do that a couple of times to bleed any air out of the system. If it still doesn't squirt gas, then pump is probably bad. 3. If this isn't the problem, then there are about a million things to try which would be hard to diagnose over a forum. Sorry about your knucklehead stepdaughter. I have a similar situation in my family. Fortunately I don't have to deal with the dipsh##, that my son impregnated. Details very similar to your stepdaughter. She abandoned the kid at 2 months. My son and his daughter now live with us until he can get a little better financial situation going. There are multiple things going on in my life that suck right now. Just keep in mind you are not alone with your family struggles. Good Luck!
  3. I remember a commercial with the jeep being in a cage and them talking about not being to be able to keep all those horses caged or something like that. Been a long time.
  4. People are so rude these days. Cell phones are a contributing factor. The person you are with and talking to is more important 99% of the time than whoever is calling you. Don't interrupt a conversation to answer the damn phone. It's just rude. :wall: That's what voicemail is for. Unless you're expecting something important of course. And texting, are you kidding me? That's the dumbest thing that has caught on since the pet rock. I'm old school. I prefer to talk to someone. Not send them a dumb message. Not to mention that the subtle aspects of communication are lost in texts. Such as facial expression and body language and tone. Talking on a phone while driving is not the smartest thing to do, but is not any worse than fiddling with the radio or cd player. Hands free is the best. But texting while driving... you might as well be driving under the influence. Just plain Stupid. I don't care how you spin it. :thwak: SWHEW, I'm glad I got that off my chest.
  5. Yep, I just took the switch out of the donor the other day. There is a round nut behind the switch knob that you can turn to get it off. Then there was a button at the bottom of the switch to release the knob/rod. If you need a switch, I just so happen to have a spare. :D
  6. Manual. Hands down. Converted the Family Truck to manual earlier this year.
  7. I have BFG All Terrain KO's on my MJ. they were on my Ranger for over 60000 miles. They still look pretty good. They last a long time. I also have a set on the wifes TJ. I think they are a really good all around tire.
  8. the way you're describing it, I'd check the TPS as well. Sounds like it doesn't know where the throttle is.
  9. How's it coming? When will we be getting the shirts? You have enough interest to do hats later? Thanks, Mike.
  10. So, what are the plans?
  11. Yes, interested. How much you want for them?
  12. Wish it was that easy. The ones that I had were rusted to almost dust. The ones on the driver side were as you describe. I already fixed them and reinstalled. I need some passenger side ones.
  13. Hello??????
  14. Wife has a TJ. Drive it all the time.
  15. Yep. I never thought much of Jeeps when I was younger. I was into sports cars. I still love them too. The father-in-law bought the MJ in 1990. Liked it. Then the wife decided she wanted a wrangler after driving her cousins. Bought her a TJ in '97. She is still driving it. And now I own the MJ. It is a fever.
  16. Agreed. I wouldn't do a chevy 350 just because it has been done so many times. If you can get the 5.0 to fit and the electronics figured out, the aftermarket for it is just about as good as the Chebby.
  17. I have the antenna and wiper arms. I could help you out on other stuff if you needed gray. What are you looking to pay>?
  18. Personally for me, I like rectangular ones on a MJ / XJ because of the rectangular grills and square headlights. I think they go better. I like round ones on TJ's for the same reason.
  19. Agreed. Folks do the dumbest things, though. Especially now days. Geez, I sound old. :dunno:
  20. Switched the track bar from the donor to the truck because the axle was not aligned properly. It is now. Apparently the old one was bent slightly from one of the accidents the old mule has had in its past.
  21. I just have to say that having a donor is fantastic. I can't believe all the parts I have pulled off of this thing. And I only paid $400 for it. So far, I have moved from the donor to the truck: AX15 NP231 front driveshaft - pulled these 3 as a unit. Bracket for the xfer case linkage part of the rear driveshaft to lengthen mine. steering column gauge cluster glove compartment door misc. light bulbs misc. vacuum hoses throttle body with IAC, TPS, etc. digital clock (though it isn't working yet...no power) and today the track bar and bracket. And that doesn't count the parts that I've sold and the tires I'm giving to my son-in-law. Just thought I'd share the value of having one.
  22. OK. Had it aligned a month ago or so. Helped, but the problem with the tire sticking out on the drivers side further than the passenger side was still there. So, I looked into it and decided that the track bar must be the culprit. Today, I pulled the track bar off the donor and then pulled the track bar off the truck and low and behold. They were slightly different. It appears that the bend was sharper on the truck. Most likely due to one of the accidents this truck had in its past. So, I put the donor track bar on and it moved the axle over so now the tires stick out about equally on each side. :clapping: Man, I love having a donor.
  23. OMG. I'm not sure what I would have done, but that poor woman needs help.
  24. Decided if you're going to do hats, yet?
  25. The 3.4 is a great swap if you just need a refresh. More power and a bit more reliablity. Now don't take this the wrong way because I absolutely love the 4.0, but if I were going to all the trouble to make it fit an 86, I'd go ahead and step up to a v8. A good small block ford, chebby or mopar will give you more power. (but I'm a power junkie). But that's just me. I understand cooling can be a factor with a V8 in a comanche, but it can be done. As much work as it is likely to take to do the 4.0, that's what I would do. If the 2.5 in the TJ ever gives up the ghost, I think it will be due for a v8. Problem is the dang thing is so reliable that it just keeps going. 175K and still popping. Good luck with whatever you decide.
