  1. Mines from a 4.0, sorry...
  2. Will the stock one work? I have one. I'll have to measure. What do you want to spend on it? Might be a bit to ship it to OR.
  3. What are you wanting to spend? That is the biggest question... I have a 2010 focus. Great little car with the sync system, etc. I've got 31000 on it already. No issues. I've had a great many North American cars that have went well over 150K before I got rid of them with very few issues. If you are a car person, you will realize that there are good and bad in most brands. North American cars now days are just as good as their Asian counterparts for the most part. The biggest thing is, just like our trucks is how was it maintained? Most cars now days will go 200K+ if they were maintained properly and not abused. I would recommend buying from an individual instead of a lot if you're buying used... Good Luck!
  4. Hardly... The cars were governed to about 150. I think I hit the limiter once. It was great fun, though...

    Stalker

Well, I got passed the other day by a nice looking 91 short bed 4X4 here locally. He was going the same way as me so, I continued to follow it. It was a stick and sounded real nice. It was lifted with aftermarket wheels and 31's. He turned down a road just about 2 miles from my house so I thought what the heck? I followed him to his driveway. Mind you I was in the focus coming home from work. I told him "Hey I don't mean to be a stalker, but I'm restoring one of these and I had to get a closer look at yours." He was very nice. He bought the truck new and had a lot to say about it. Tough little trucks. He said. He had rebuilt the motor with many performance parts. He told me how strong it ran, etc. etc. He had not heard of ComancheClub. I told him to get on here and join up. We parted and he told me if I needed any info or help, let him know. I can't believe that he lived within a couple of miles of me and I had never seen it before. Hope he joins up!
  6. Cool. Check out the Family Truck thread. It was also bought new by my father in law. I bought it from him and gave it to my son. He drove it and after years of neglect, I now have it and am in the process of getting it back up to snuff. I ran into a local guy here last week. I followed him as he had a nice 91 short bed 4X4 stick that was lifted and looked nice. Once he stopped, I talked to him. He was the original owner. He had rebuilt the motor with a bunch of performance stuff. It sounded real nice and he said that it ran real strong. I told him about comancheclub. He didn't know about it. Hopefully, he'll get on here soon and join up. Enjoy the Eliminator.
  7. My lovely wife got this for me for my birthday. Last Sunday, I got to run 12 laps at the Kentucky Motor Speedway in a race car! All I can say is WooHoo!!!!
  8. Haven't had much time lately to work on the old mule. When I have, I put a real thin coat of rattle can black on the tailgate and touched up some other spots on the truck. I may get around to actually painting it eventually. :dunno:  I did manage to get one of the rear fender flares on. The other I have to fab some brackets. I only have 1 of 3. I got some off the Cherokee donor, but they are not the same. I may be able to use them by putting new holes / studs in them. We'll see. I also put on the wheels/tires from the donor temporarily. I also scored some TJ Gambler rims off Jeepforum. I'm going to put them on with some 31's. I did notice that the front tires stick further out on the driver side than the passenger. Took it in and had it aligned. Didn't help. The wheels that are on there now will be for sale soon. The steel wheels that were on there are for sale now. You can see them on the other pics of the truck in this thread if interested. I'm thinking the control arms may be slightly bent from one of the accidents this truck has had. I'll pull the ones off the cherokee and see if that fixes it. It drives and steers OK, though. I did find out that my driveshaft may not be straight. (I was afraid of that when I did it) I get a pretty good wobble at about 60. I'll have to take it somewhere to see if it needs balanced or recut and welded or what. Here are some pics I took today to show the state of the truck as it sits now...
  9. No thanks, I'll stick with what I got.
  10. If you haven't already, check the bolts in the wheel well that are for the bracket that attaches the track bar to the frame. Mine were loose and caused a clunk.
  11. No lift yet. Stock. I'll get it checked in the next week or so and let you know. Hopefully, it's fixable without changing the axle. I wouldn't mind that if the ratios were the same, but I'm pretty sure that they are not.
  12. Correct.
  13. Yes, do the DIY... I have a cracked windshield and a good one in a donor I want to swap. Would be very interested in the DIY. :clapping:
  14. OK, so here's the deal... I am working on the mule last night and I notice that the front end is way out of alignment. What I mean is I can see it visually. I just put 30X9.5's on it temporarily and notice that the drivers side tire sticks out from the flare about 1/4 inch. The passenger is inboard probably 1/2 inch at the top. It seems to be leaning inward from bottom to top if that makes sense. Probably from the 1st accident my son had with it a few years ago. I knew it was out of alignment because it ate a set of front tires. Just didn't think it was bad enough to see. :ack: So, my question is is this fixable with alignment or should I just put the front axle from the donor XJ in there and call it done? :dunno: I'm thinking swapping everything might be the answer. How long does it take the average shade tree mechanic to swap axles? :hmm: I just realized that the ratio's are probably not the same... Crap. :headpop:
  15. $150 is a bit pricey. Your best bet would be to find a 4X4 Cherokee (XJ) or Comanche (MJ) donor vehicle and buy it. Then swap everything over you need. :wrench: If you try to piece it together, you'll likely end up frustrated with all the little pieces you didn't know about until you're well into the swap. I scored a 90 4x4 5sp XJ for $400 locally earlier this year that I've been using for parts. Mine was already 4X4, but I swapped it over from a Auto to 5sp. I'm constantly finding parts that I need and  oh yea, just pull that off the XJ. :D Go over to the Project MJ's forum on here and check out "The Family Truck". That's mine and you'll get a sense for what I mean... Good Luck and welcome!
  16. So the bracket for the track bar had 3 of 4 bolts loose and the steering box had a bolt loose. That was all the popping and cracking I heard turning the wheel. That is now all good. Man it needs tires bad. I guess I need to start on moving the lift kit from the donor over so I can get some new tires and an alignment.
  17. Got plates and insurance on the old mule and took it for a drive. Still have some suspension stuff or steering box issues in the front. Will address in the next couple of weeks. Good to get it on the road. Reattached the seatbelts. Here is a pic of the lower dash panel back on. :brows: Picked this up at the yard. Will install soon... Couple of pics of how it sits in the barn now. The list is getting shorter, but it still has a lot of things on it. :ack:
  18. No pics, but I fixed the turn signals and reinstalled the lower part of the dash. I'll post pics of that later. The turn signal switch just was funky so I cleaned it and they worked. I switched the blinker for the one from the donor because it was blinking really fast. It is normal now. Just need to hook up the reverse lights and that will be all of the electrical work!! Scratching things off the list... :wrench:
  19. I don't know about the movement thing, but the not starting is possibly a CPS. Crank Position Sensor. It is notorious for killing these trucks. Search is your friend!
  20. Reassembled part of the interior this weekend. Put in the carpet and put the seat back in. Carpet looks a lot better, but it still has a lot of stains. Need to get some floor mats. That will make it look a lot better. Put in the console I scored from the JunkYard. Looks like a truck again. Still have a whole lot to do though...
  21. Tonight I replaced some slightly used battery cables: Then I replaced the sending unit for the one from the doner for the gauge. Now all the gauges seem to be working just fine! :clapping:
  22. Today I had the day off and spent it on the truck. Got the rust cleaned off the floor boards. Painted them with some rustoleum type paint I had around. Cleaned the carpet. Before: After: Cleaned the Seat. Before: After: Fixed the interior lights. Lastly, I got a new brake pedal cover from the local jy to match the new clutch pedal cover... :brows:
  23. you stole my pic... :thwak: :D
  24. Greetings all! I got the valve cover gasket replaced. :wrench: Then pressure washed the engine compartment. Wow! What a difference... :clapping: Coming along. Also got the clutch pedal rubber pad replaced. Have a shifter inner boot on the way from Quadratec. Replaced a couple of vacuum lines, swapped the whole throttle body assembly from the donor. It didn't idle very well. I could have just swapped over the IAC, but was just as easy to swap the whole throttle body with everything attached to it. Put a new air filter in. Still have a million things to fix and/or replace, but things are moving pretty good now...
  25. Could be a number of things, but most likely depending on the year, it is probably the CAD on the axle. Do a search and you'll find a wealth of info on how to fix it permanently. It's easy.
