Well, the son wrecked the MJ again. This time, at least he had an excuse. Snowy curve. . . Oh well. Anyway, the rear main spring on the leaf on the driver side broke. What's the odds of finding 1? Metric Ton long bed. . . Big dent in the bed on the side, but; don't really care about that, just need to get it driveable again.

Care to make an estimate?

Back on the road!! All fixed up. Bought a Cherokee with electrical problems for $300 and used all the parts off of it. Got it back on the road yesterday. The son is happy again. Will be parting out a cherokee soon. . . -
Mr. Cappa, Thanks for taking the time to respond. Here is some positive reinforcement for you: I'm glad you are going to cover MJ's more in the future. I like your magazine and will continue to subscribe. I enjoy the coverage of events and the autopsy articles are a good addition. I have learned a few things from your magazine and from these internet boards. That said, I see people write in your magazine all the time complaining about various things in your mag. Some of it I agree with and some I do not. Just like everything else in the world. But; when they do complain, you many times belittle them in your responses rather than take their complaints constructively. (since they are your customer) I do stick to my guns though on the teenager statement. A lot of times the wording in your articles is juvenile. I agree with the folks that write in to complain about Bree. Nothing against her personally as I don't know her. But; her articles add nothing to the content of the mag. Some people are offended by the fact that she appears in the mag half naked and in seductive poses. That does not offend me. I don't have small kids anymore but; some folks do. I find her attractive. It's just that she is out of place in a magazine for Jeeps. thanks for your time. Mike.

No offense. . . :D You may well know more about jeeps than I. What I meant was their writing style is juvenile. I was thinking more of 13, not 19. I agree with you. the whole thing with Bree. . .She is attractive and all, but; I really don't give a rat's about her opinions on anything. I get a jeep magazine for jeeps.

I have a brand new 3" lift for sale in the classified section. Make me an offer. My son wrecked his MJ, so he needs the money for parts to fix it. Let me know. . .

I looked over the article and didn't even notice that they didn't spell it right. DOH! I subscribe to that magazine because it is all jeeps, but; they really kind of suck. It's like it's written by teenagers.

Will a front axle from an 86 Cherokee fit on a 90 Comanche? Both 4X4. I don't know anything about the Cherokee yet. Haven't seen it. Thanks!

My son has a friend that has a 86 Cherokee. . . Is the front axle the same as the 90 Comanche? I may be able to score some body parts off of it too. Thanks, Mike. -

Crap, I forgot about gears. . . Know what gears would be in a '90 MJ with AW4 and Metric Ton option? Is there a way I can tell on the axle? If not, I guess I can do the old turn the wheels and count the turns on the driveshaft thing. -

thanks. It wasn't hit directly in front. I'll check, but; I believe that the engine is OK. It was hit in the front corner. -

yep. figured the doner XJ would be the best option. I figured that the front axle would be an issue. doors still open/close OK and nothing looks out of alignment as far as doors, cab vs. bed, etc. I don't have any pics. -
My son wrecked the MJ last night. . .He is OK. "If" we fix it, it will require a minimum of: fender and flare Hood (Maybe) front bumper fan shroud stablizer bar front axle (Maybe) wheel grill headlight and turn signal lights Not sure what else it will need until we start tearing into it. Right now I'm trying to estimate what it will cost him to fix it as opposed to replacing it. comes out of his pocket as insurance was liability only. The front axle where there is a big [ that is where the wheels attach. Not sure what you call it. But it is bent and the [ is almost touching the front spring. Anyone care to estimate what these parts will total?

Read it over on jeepforum. Bummer. . .

All done. $70 to weld on a new Yoke. It's all good!!!

Driveshaft broke at the Yoke where it attaches to U-joint. Going junkyard hunting. . . Any other vehicles that will fit other than long bed comanche? :dunno:

Dadinator replied to Jeep Tricks's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Well, now that you mention it, no. It was for the son's '90. I assume they are the same, but; maybe not. Call your local parts store and see if they have the same part number. If so, I'll sell you this one. if not, oh well. . . -

You got me. The CPS was the culprit when My Sons acted like that. I don't know of a way to tell if the injetors are firing. Could be the computer or another sensor. Sorry I can't be more help. . . Good luck with it. -

If it is cranking and not starting, I'd go up on the fuel rail and have someone turn the key on and off while you push the fuel valve. I don't know if that's what you call it, but; it is like a tire valve that you can use to bleed the fuel lines. It's on the main fuel rail and should have like a screw on cap on it. If you do that and no fuel is coming out of it, then your fuel pump is most likely bad or a clog in the line. Have you replaced the fuel filter? If you don't get fuel out by doing that then I'd pull the fuel filter and turn the key on and off again to see if fuel pumps out of the line. don't be smoking or around open flame. If no fuel from their either, then I'd say you have a fuel pump issue. You should also be able to hear the fuel pump when you turn the key on and off. Good Luck. -
Battery may just be toast. I'd check the dome lights to see if the switches are on all the time. My son did that once or twice.
