what's the official name for the door stop thingie?
jpnjake replied to Pete M's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
They are cross compatible for 97+. I put a set out of a 98 2dr xj in mine after it broke into 4 separate pieces and wouldn’t allow my door to close. Not 100% on the xj rear door thing tho as mine were out of a 2dr -
3.5" Lift with 31" Tires?
jpnjake replied to DesertComanche86's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thank you very much! here's the most recent pictures of it with another 3/4 inch lift in the front and the 31x10.5 on new chrome 8 inch wide wheels instead of the 7’s -
Thank you guys Those wheels are sweet! She’s got a sweet ride Black and Chrome for the win

Got some new bling for the MJ. Got them for Christmas and put them on before the new year. But just haven’t gotten around to posting them. I went with white letters out on the tires. Also had to do lower control arms to clear the different offset and width wheels with 31’s. And I also threw in a 3/4 inch spacer in the front that added about an inch of lift. The Chrome wheels are definitely one of my favorite additions to this build. Also chose not to use the chrome spare so it wouldn’t get wrecked, but it still looks pretty good on the black wheel

AMC style seatbelts not catching
jpnjake replied to Warren99's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Try this. Take the seatbelt that isn’t in the truck and tilt it forward backwards and such. It should lock the seatbelt. There’s a pendulum inside the seatbelt that causes it to lock when it moves. They should only move when you have them close to straight up and down -
That’s one slick grill

Lol well it was worth a shot, thanks for trying Pete

Lol me either. Pretty sure my 2000 xj does the same, and so did my dads old 98xj along with our other MJ’s -
AMC style seatbelts not catching
jpnjake replied to Warren99's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I’m pretty sure they don’t do that. They should only lock when the vehicle is tilted side to side. Try parking on a side hill and taking out the seatbelt. I could be incorrect but this is my experience with them. -
Lol me either. But it quickly turned into one of my favorite threads, as it’s almost like a rickroll lol

Try taking apart as few things as possible, like take your ac compressor bracket off the engine, as the compressor bolts like to break. Also you can unbolt the alternator and such, take off the header panel, and pull the radiator. It is not worth it to leave it in and pull the engine around it. And you will make a mess so prepare to clean it up. Also have a plan on where to put the engine, they like to tip over and break parts. Finally disconnect the exhaust after the manifold, if you pull the manifolds to pull the engine without them, they get in your way. And remember to take lots of pictures of connectors and such

Nope, those are aftermarket wheels, I’ve got a couple sets here’s all the factory wheels offered on MJ’s the bottom right one is the same as the top left except with a black center cap. Also there was a 5 spoke aluminum wheel not shown in this book as it wasn’t offered in 89

After the blazing hot 54 day of rain yesterday, everything flash froze pretty much, the ground is rock hard, but the roads were hit hard with the salt to stop the freeze. Currently it’s 12 with a low this morning of 7. Gotta love New England 47 degree temp drop overnight

I went to my welding gas supplier a couple months ago and he was shocked that someone so young was using C02. Until I told him we use it on our off-road rigs lol. But it’s still good to weld with in a pinch

Same here with no Power, except we have a well. No shower for me today lol. at least I get to play in the mud a bit with my quads
-
Today has not been cold but still eventful, today I was awoken to my dad telling me that the neighbors shelter logic had uprooted Itself from the ground and landed ontop of my enclosed trailer. We had to open up the shelter and back the MJ up to pull it out into the front where it would be safe. The winds were insane this morning and the trees were swaying like crazy. It has been pouring all day. Hopefully I can put my trailer back behind the house with the 2wd MJ. The mud here is insane. Also high of 25 tomorrow even tho it’s 54 currently. Everything should be good and frozen.

Oh my lol, the exact reason I carry 2 rotors and a cap with me everywhere lol. Glad you got it home all safe. Nice repair -
Id suggest cleaning your ground for the wiper motor. Use @cruiser54’s website It tells you exactly how to do so

Very cool truck with a very cool story, be sure to add to the original owners Thread. How is the goose neck ball mounted?
