  1. The pivoting vent windows are notorious for allowing water in. You can seal them up with silicone and don't open them or you can buy a new weatherstripping gasket for each window from TeamCherokee. You can also swap in fixed windows with good seals from a JY. I did that on one of my former trucks and never had another leak.
  2. I would think there has to be some weep holes in the track and, after many years, they can clog. Try coloring some water with a little food dye and pour some into the track to see if it leaks before overflowing the top of the track. It may even be something the glass company should cover if it's faulty installation.
  3. Don, does anyone still sell the cowl hoods?
  4. I like the vents with more shape to them, like the Nissan Z car vents. The LaBaron vents are functional but plain Jane. I've thought about taking the Street Comanche to a local Hot Rod shop and get an estimate for custom louvers into the hood itself. That would allow a lot of flexibility as long as the vents don't run into the reinforcement support framing on the underside of the hood.

  6. TeamCherokee has fully assembled hinges in the DOORS category. The rear hinges are cheaper than the fronts.

  8. Would this result in the same benefit as the above modification? I live at sea level. Are there issues with the "high altitude" at sea level?
  9. I usually don't cheap out on sensors or vital components so I'll be sure to get a quality CPS. I didn't even know about the modification with the sensor and bracket. I had read about a relocation to the harmonic balancer or something along those lines. Cruiser54's mod. seems much simpler and much, much ($0) less costly.
  10. I'll sell the entire bracket for $15 shipped. I can post pics if needed. Paypal is preferred.
  11. I know, the grill is upside down. http://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/cto/3569768961.html
  12. I'm getting ready to do a few things to the '87. I'm about 90% on keeping the OE motor, albeit in a reconditioned state from a reputable engine shop. My AX15 is a '91 and I just attained a '98 bellhousing for the external slave. Since the engine and tranny are going to be apart, I figured I'd install a new CPS. I believe the CPS is specific to year or group of years but does it read off the engine or transmission? While we're at it, has anyone done the CPS relocation or is it not worth the time and money?
  13. Much of it can be used with some modifications. It depends on how deep you want to go. The entire front door from a 4dr can be swapped in for a cleaner, one window look. The center consoles are nicer. It just depends if you're willing to modify or not. If you are, then grab everything from the front seats forward.
  14. Jim doesn't have to find them anymore, they find him. I wouldn't be surprised if future"sellers" pay him to haul it away.
  15. CPS maybe? I think Hornbrod had a tech write-up on that.
  16. Alexia solved it. Thanks!!
  17. I started this off in Shoutbox but don't want to use up chat talk for this issue. For the past 3 days I thought CC was down because clicking on Bookmark CC showed Server not Found at 2083. I don't know what 2083 is but it shows up every time. I finally got on the site from Google Search and thought all was well. When I clicked on Forums, I got the above condition. The Forums page was my Bookmarked page for CC, by the way, not the CC Homepage. So it seems I can enter CC and see anything except Forums. This is with Firefox. My Mac also has Safari for browsing so I went through Safari to CC and Forums works just fine. I really don't want to switch over to Safari if I don't have to. FYI, I've had no other issues with any other websites using Firefox. I have not added or changed anything on my computer regarding blocks or security. The Forums issue came up out of the blue 3 days ago. Suggestions welcomed!!
  18. Two places to check first are the both ends of the cable. I've experienced a broken connection at the back of the cluster and also a loose connection at the transmission. If you need slack to pull the cluster, there is a hold-down on the cable about half way between trans and firewall.

  22. A couple guys from Vegas do some contract work for military bases and, while in San Diego, swung by my place to buy some parts for their rock crawler XJs. They said there is a PnP in Vegas that has two Comanches in it. I can't remember what road they said it was on but you Vegas guys can probably find it easy enough.
