  1. Most members would use this as an excuse to upgrade to a AX15 but if you want to keep the BA/10, check with Rockauto, Quadratec, Jegs, etc.
  2. Since we are showing FSJ trucks in our areas, I thought this one was pretty nice. http://sandiego.craigslist.org/ssd/cto/3618395487.html
  3. You said the reason is due to a bent pulley. If you don't need the pump replaced, take the pulley to NAPA or the Stealership and have them help you find the match. If you need the pump assembly, I saw a bunch on Rockauto and local parts stores probably can get them as well. I saw one on ebay for 84-86 but it was a two-belt pulley.
  4. I'm going to arrange a meet at their shop in a week or two and get a lot more details regarding the science and physics behind the conversion. My buddy who was going to convert his Datsun 510 said they might let me drive the Ranger to get a feel for the smooth, quiet power these things put out. The more thought I put into this, the more excited I am to actually pull the trigger.

Sold today 02/16/2013 to Evan Fisher of San Diego. Truck is to become a JeepSpeed race truck.
  6. If anyone has a MJ that is destined for scrap, I need the section of the cab from the door jamb to the back and from bottom up to the body line that is just below the door handle. I was going to cut the section from my parts truck but someone is buying the cab/frame to build a JeepSpeed racing truck and they need that section. I already have a replacement bed so I just need the corner section.
  7. The several sets I've had had a distinction. The 86 latch is narrower than the 87+ so you would have to switch both latch and receiver belts. Another issue I ran into was trying to mount the pillar belt assembly from an 86 into a 88 and found the 86 bracket was too long for the indented sheet metal mounting area, however, that 86 set was from a Cherokee. If the 86 set is from a MJ, it should work.
  8. CA is about that except for 2 years ago when I removed the shell from the back of the 88. The PO had registered it with a "permanent" shell, thereby qualifying as a passenger car. I removed the shell and had to get a weight certificate for the DMV and pay the commercial vehicle rate. That was about $150. I was going to complain but I had two other Comanches and didn't want to risk them raising my fees for the other two.
  9. My first thought is to keep the SC original but I already have a AX15 and a AMC20 and I was going to go with a stroker from Hesco. None of that is original although it is still Jeep. These electric conversions are high performance and can beat the snot out of most mechanical engines when it comes to power. I would never race the truck but am drawn to the idea of having a Street Comanche, which is extremely rare, converted to EV, which would make this a one-of-a-kind truck. Like the Comanches, in general, the Street Comanches don't bring in high dollars. The CA emissions requirements get stricter every year and I've already lost two Comanches to 'Gross Polluter' failures on the smog tests. I haven't pulled the trigger yet but the EV route seems to appeal to me a little more than the stroker conversion.
  10. I got some quotes when a member from the East Coast was considering buying my 88. Estimates ranged from $800-$1300 but I don't think this is an option for shelbyluv. The haulers need to drive the vehicle onto the ramps and then off again when they unload or reposition the vehicles. There could be other types of haulers that can transport but I would think they may be more expensive. I just saw your post about the cost.
  11. I'm going to research converting Street Comanche #59 into a high performance Electric Vehicle. There's a EV shop about 10 miles from me that specializes in this type of conversion and their shop truck is a '03 Ford Ranger. I would have them duplicate the set-up they used on that truck, if i decide to go this route. Here's a link and there is video on the Ranger: http://www.evwest.com/catalog/vehicles.php
  12. This one from Alexia can get you started but you may want to scroll through the 'Project MJs' threads to find some more. http://comancheclub.com/topic/32740-alexias-1987-to-1997-comanche/
  13. Has anyone tried Lizard Skin? It is costly but seems to be high quality.
  14. She has a face?
  15. I've changed mine a few times and each time it took a few tries at finding the right size for the avatar. Keep at it or try a different picture. I'm sure you'll get it to work.
  16. Did you check the R motor mount or maybe the R brake caliper?
  17. Well.....the site is back with a new look & format. However, it seems they have either greatly reduced their inventory or the ability to proceed beyond page 1 of every category is not in the cards.
  18. Why would he need lodging? He's in a motorhome.

    Ground Wire Stud

    Ground Wire Stud

I think most of us have experienced issues with studs, bolts, nuts, screws, etc. since our trucks are at least 21 years old. If soaking with a penetrant doesn't help, you may have to cut the ground and affix a new connector or upgrade to a better wire. Read through cruiser54's ground upgrades for some insight.
  22. It's on CL for $4500. http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/3587543443.html
  23. I'd be afraid to know the 'men to women' ratio with a MJ lovers dating site. Now if it were for Miatas or Prius', the sausage fest atmosphere would work just great.
  24. It might be my computer I can't navigate their website. Thumbnail pics don't show up and "next" pages can't be found. It's really weird. This site was fine yesterday. http://www.teamcherokee.com/
  25. Congrats and great story. Thanks for all your input on the forum!!
