  1. Thanks for the comments guys. I actually had a 4.0 donor truck, so I used interior harness from that also. I don't think I cut and spliced a single wire in the whole project.
  2. Wow, sorry I took so long to respond to you guys, I didn't realize there were new responses in the thread. Thanks, I made them from scratch actually. Here's my build thread for it http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/view ... highlight= I used single stage, Centari acrylic enamel. The black on the bottom is laquer that I got for free. I don't remember what brand though. Thanks
  3. I did the 2.8 to 4.0 conversion in my 86. It took me a while (really can't give you a time amount though). But I did a ton of things while I was doing the swap, and only worked at nights here and there, so it took much longer than a straight up swap. Here's my thread. Not alot of tech info, but pictures and stuff. http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/view ... highlight= Matt
  4. your truck looks badass.
  5. wow....you're good to be able to do that in a parking lot like that.
  6. I put a 4.0/ba10 out of an 87 into my 86, that was 2.8/auto The only major issues were changing the radiator supports out from the 87, and massaging the firewall a little bit by the back of the head. No big deal.
  7. +1. My gauge reads about 10* hot as well.
  8. the front will, but the back I don't know, probably not.
  9. I'd rather drive my MJ
  10. agreed. even if its a bit extra work.
  11. just be careful with sparks around the gas tank :chillin:
  12. I'm using a sending unit from a SWB tank in a LWB tank and it's fine; the tanks are the same height. That being said, I forgot the capacity of each tank.
  13. that's an awesome picture.
  14. I like the color on that. Bummer about the engine though, but hey, a good reason to upgrade right? btw, I have a solid SWB bed up here in NYC if you're interested.
  15. I put the new CPS in and it started, thank god. It still has to turn over a few times which I was hoping the new CPS would fix, but w/e. Thanks for all the help guys. Matt
  16. always been recycling here. (NYC)
  17. I suppose that was the problem; I put the old one back in and it fired up. I'm gonna return the "new" CPS and get a different one. My knock sensor was damaged as well...but that couldn't affect the engine's starting up right? Any other ideas here guys? I'm really starting to lose hope. And jeepco I might take you up on that fuel pump you have.....any idea on price?
  18. well here's a kicker. Truck started up with the old CPS. I put the new one in today just to make sure the @#$%ing thing doesnt get me stranded again, and now it won't start up at all. Fuel pump went on, but I didn't have anyone to check for spark while I cranked. any ideas?
  19. yuck. I picked up a new CPS today. I'll probably put it in thursday....hopefully that was the problem.
  20. uhhh I got it up on the lift today, and bam.....turn the key, fuel pump on, and she fires right up  I pulled the pump anyway, and there were no loose wires, grounds, etc., the sock was still attached and not dirty, and everything seemed as it should be. I want to get to the bottom of what got me stuck the other day still. I'm gonna order the correct pump and put it in regardless. Any thoughts? What's the story on that CPS sensor? thanks for all the help, Matt
  21. I'll check for spark. I just hauled to truck home from work. I picked up a replacement pump, so I'll knock the feed line off first and see if the current pump pushes any gas out with the key on.
  22. I'm not really sure if we're on the same page here......the engine does not start at all. It turns over but never fires at all. Even when I'm cranking, fuel pressure at the rails is nothing.
  23. +1 My DS floor was a lost cause, so I cut it out an made a new pan, but on the PS and elsewhere in the cab I used the old sheetmetal, silicone and self tapping screw method. Said patches are holding up just fine.
  24. I tried a new relay there. (On the inside of the DS fender right). Didn't help. I'm gonna bring it home in a while so I'll have a better idea.
