  1. that's a wreckless avatar
  2. yea put a brake upgrade on your to-do list. Otherwise, gl with it. Stangnet.com has a nice classics section. For engine help, log on to www.sbftech.com Matt
  3. I painted my truck with ppg centari. It was around 110 for the gallon (used about 3/4), 160 with reducer and activator. Nason paint is even cheaper but I went for the centari since I like their metallics better.
  4. That weld will be alright for a while. What's the worst it can do, crack again? If I were welding it, I wouldv'e gouged the crack out a bit, and cooled it slowly, but it's really not that crutial if you're only street driving it for a week or two.
  5. Wow, clean notch man.
  6. I don't mean to argue with you, but corvettes are sports cars, mcclaren f1's are supercars. The fox body mustang is a traditional 2+2, 2 door, v8 powered american car, designed to go fast, cheap. Luxury and such are second rate. If you want to classify by era's, thats fine. And IMO, its a pony car, not a muscle car. As were a good deal of 60s "muscle cars", mustang included. Thats just the way I see it..... everyones got an opinion right?
  7. I have to disagree. I drive an 89, and in stock form it would've kept up with the vast majority of 60s muscle. And that's coming from a HUGE 60s car nut.
  8. Or just unlock the door :hateputers:
  9. Where did you get that 12v power source strip (the threee cigarette lighter shaped plugs)?
  10. Yea, that helps.... I'm glad I asked. I didn't think it would be the same thing but I could get it cheap so I figured why not at least ask. I'm assuming that t-5 would be hard to swap in? I'd love to run a t-5 since I'm used to fixing the ones I break in my mustang thanks
  11. A local guy is clearing out his stock of jeep parts (and is in a bit of a hurry), and among the inventory is a 4.0/5speed combonation from an 86 cj. I'd like to do an ax-15 swap to replace the ba10 on my mj..... is there any chance this truck could've had an ax-15 in it? I think it was too early but I figured I'd ask anyways. Aside from that, he's got a ton of stuff he's letting go of really cheap if anyone has some interest. Thanks, Matt
  12. Wait, people don't know about the dates on tires?
  13. looks clean.
  14. "The Tangerine" Image Not Found I freakin miss that color.
  15. I think I'm gonna do this on mine. I mean the wheels are 30 bucks each, why not.
  16. No, the 9" is the ford 9" rear end, which is setup differrent than the 8.8". I have a similar rear in my truck, it was a very easy install if you can weld a bit. The only downside is that this rear is like 1" narrower overall than the stock d35, so you may need wheel spacers. I don't, but I'd like to space out a bit. 250 is a reasonable price if it's mint condition, with the full disc setup and all. I paid 150 for mine, but I knew the jyard owner. And it is a limited slip, though ford calls it trac-lok instead of posi. If it's worn out, its an easy easy rebuild. Hope that helped. Matt
  17. I run 3.55s and a ba10, it's perfect. I'm spinning 2k at 65 and pulling solid mileage.
  18. that's what I've always thought.
  19. I'm sorry. I'm not trying to be smart here, but I still don't get it. I've run 87, 89, 91, 93, 94 octane and the higher the number the smoother my engine seems to run. I'm not a mechanic and know nothing of octane ratings. Somebody school me. Well generally, higher octane means it has a higher flash point, so to speak (I don't recall the exact phrases here). In other words, ideally, an engine with compression, spark, timing built to run on 87 will be more efficient on the 87 that ultra 94. http://www.listangs.com/forum/viewtopic ... 30&t=23352 But also have to keep in mind, these are jeeps, and they have minds of their own.
  20. I dig the truck and your progress, but the scoops...... not so much. But hey, you like them and that's what matters.
  21. Agreed. It's made to run on 87, 89 at best. Anything over that is hurting more than helping, though that may not be the problem here.
  22. wow your truck looks kinda like mine.
  23. looks open to me. but I've never seen a factory 9" anyways.
  24. +1, unless if the vent is in the off position, I'm cookin.
  25. My mistake, I meant something along the lines of this: Older cranes use a mechanical throttle cable to speed up the engine and hold it at a certain rpm. It's like a heavy bicycle cable, that's all.
