fuel pump went bad today
Car RamRod replied to Car RamRod's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I agree. I checked the fuel pressure at the fuel rail, and there is none; it just drips out. I haven't checked the CPS yet.....how do I go about doin this? -
fuel pump went bad today
Car RamRod replied to Car RamRod's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
renix 4.0/ba10. It was running and starting just fine. Only thing out of the ordinary was that I was down at work to pick up my toolbox to bring home, so the truck was saggin back pretty well. Even though I had over 1/4 tank, I put 5 more gallons in just to make sure that wasn't the problem. It doesn't start at all, it had been starting just fine, then all of a sudden, nothing. The fuel filter was changed 150 miles ago, and I don't get much fuel pressure at all at the shraeder valve. Thanks for the heads up on that Duner, I'm gonna get the pump from the distributor at cost. Thanks for the help, Matt -

There's no noise at all when I turn the key to on. And it started as usual an hour earlier, then like that.....dead. -
fuel pump went bad today
Car RamRod replied to Car RamRod's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have juice and a ground right up to where it goes into the tank. I don't know what else it could be. -
My fuel pump decided to give up on me today, my truck's down at work now. I called the parts distributor and they have two pumps listed, which are not interchangeable. One is a walboro and the other a bosch. I'm using a pump from an 87 in my truck, is there anyway to tell which one I'd need before taking mine out? Also, I put the 87 pump from a smaller tank, into the 18 or so gallon tank in my 86, could that have caused a problem? Thanks, Matt

8.8 Parking Brake Cables
Car RamRod replied to Car RamRod's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'd seen that, but I wasn't too stuck on the idea. Don't get me wrong, I rig up as much stuff as the next guy, but I like to go the extra yard on the parking brakes since I park on hills alot. -
I've seen a few ways that people have rigged parking brake cables onto a disc brake 8.8, here's my setup: You'll need: stock brake cables brake cable ends for the 8.8 (came on mine) a few inches of pipe (I think it's 5/8", I don't really remember) 2 washers with either a 1/2 or 9/16" hole weld the washer to one end of the pipe, and use that to clip the stock cable into. don't forget to notch the end of the pipe so you can release the collars. weld the ford loop end onto the end of your oem cable. run your cable through the pipe and little bracket thingy on the ford rear then weld the pipe onto the bracket where the ford cable once clipped in lastly, I had to lengthen my adjuster, which may not be the case for everyone but I had to make it about 1/2" longer pictures are worth 1000 words: washer/pipe setup Image Not Found 2 views of the connection to the brakes Image Not Found Image Not Found additional length: Image Not Found hope this can help someone out, Matt

TNT, you're crazy (in a good way of course). I don't think I could deal with all that tire noise around corners. FWIW, I get nice 2 wheel strips (I use the term strips loosely), with my 8.8 with traclok. It's no locker, but then again I'm not a hardcore offroader.

after driving it for a few weeks I gave her a new coat of paint this past weekend: sanding and what not (donor 4.0 hood was loaded with dings) Image Not Found welded loops in so I can use my brothers rear ladder rack if need be: Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found had to do the jambs the next day because of poor timing on sunday. But whatever...I'm not goin to barret jackson with it. Image Not Found jambs painted and black door panels in. Image Not Found I'm gonna give her a light wash tomorow then I'll take some outdoor pictures for you all. Hopefully next weekend I can knock out the rest of the interior. I have all of the stuff, it's just a matter of taking it out of a cruddy donor truck without breaking anything. Anywho, I'm really happy with the color combo, let me know what you all think. Matt -
that has to be one of the silliest idea's I've ever heard. Maybe he didn't mean GP's, but those mini-motorcycles that they chuted in?
-
thankyou....I went through the top.

this is the best I can to at the moment: It's alot lighter than the stuff I usually make.....but so is the mj. If you want any mounted pics let me know....but it's a pretty straight forward idea. Matt

I got an unbelievable deal on a toolbox full of snapon tools for 500 bucks when I was 17. I didn't have the cash so my father bought it for me for hs graduation just because of the deal. That being said, I have a set of tools at work and home so I have all kinds of brands. The only time I use snap on over my other stuff is for ratchets, tq wrenches, etc. My other stuff is Proto Professional, SK, and Craftsman. If any of those three are easy for you to find, I definetly recommend them. Hope that helped, Matt

vinyl dye and my new black interior
Car RamRod replied to JeepcoMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Ha.....the block had 3 cracks in it, and the slave cylinder went 70 miles after I finished the swap so I got mine. Either way.....you're doin a real nice job there. -
vinyl dye and my new black interior
Car RamRod replied to JeepcoMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Looks nice......makes me want to pull my head out of my @$$ and finish my interior. OTOH, I'm so glad I found a donor truck with a full black interior, even if it's not perfect. -
not sure...my solution for the 2.8's lack of power was a heart transplant. that's most people's solution actually... +1. I have heard of people going with a cam, intake manifold, and carburetor and picking up some power but I just skipped to the 4.0.

Like any of my pickups I run angle iron along the rails and across the front of the bed. Then just make a rack and bolt it into the railing. If you want better pics just let me know. Matt

I agree with pete. I'm gonna do this when I paint my truck in a week or so. I'm not gonna change out the fenders though, it's not really worth it for my truck.

just a few years ago those gt wheels used to grab big cash. I bought 4 absolutely mint wheels with ehh tires a year ago for 175. Theyre nice wheels for sure.
