I'm 99% sure my donor 87 came with a 242 in it, I'll have to check. It's in my 86 now though. they worth anything? I'm tripping over my 2.8/auto/tcase combo over here.

yea I have a 4.0 hood so I should be ok. I see you guys buying new fenders.....is there a difference between old/new fenders? I remember reading something about not needing new style fenders with an non stock style bumper but I'm not sure. Thanks, Matt
-
sounds good.....I'll let you guys know how it turns out.
-
thanks for the replies. I'm gonna pull the parts from a junker, so all I should need is the grill, header panel, lights, and harness right? And for the 86 specific concerns, I'm doin a 4.0 swap right now and swapping over the rad support so all should be well with that.

I'm sorry to ask a question which I'm sure has been covered, but I just can't seem to find what I'm looking for. What all is needed to put a 97+ nose on my 86 mj. I don't have a stock bumper or endcaps on the bumper.

I needed to get the big stuff in today because my father needs the garage back tomorow so it needed to be ready to roll out and I'll do odds and ends outside. I'll just wrap the engine up and paint the bay; it's a little more work but what can you do. -
Got some new tires...finally

thanks for the heads up on that one. -
I always start out with a fuel filter if its even close to changing time. On the other hand, changine the filter in these is a PITA. I installed an inline filter and never looked back.

meh....I'm happy with my 360 and my 36" tv, with a minifridge next to it, but thats me. Nonetheless, good idea.

Picked my 86 up two years ago for free and it's held up well but needed more power. A few months ago an 87 came up on craiglist with a 4.0l/5speed combo for 300 bucks, so I went for it. Hopefully by the end I'll have one running truck and all of my fingers intact. the 86 last winter (early last winter.....both cars are still out) Image Not Found 87 teardown: Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found 86 teardown: Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found and my guard dogs  Image Not Found Image Not Found I'm about a week in now. I'm doing the project all in spurts as time is really short working two days a week, going to school full time, and playing junior hockey. But it'll get done hopefully by december.

I got under the donor truck today and the main leaves are still good. If I just use that spring pack and the chevy drop shackles I should be ok? -
I like the green color; and the second strap style is much better IMO.

this is a nice build you have goin. I'm starting a similar project so this is good motivation. Good luck with the rest of it!
