  1. I know the stealership sells them for roughly 75.00 as a pkg item....pn 83500358...not sure about availability...hth
  2. I purchased some grand seats last summer, and they are NOT a direct bolt-in, some fab work is necessary...I am still debating how to make these work, they might be too wide against the transmission hump, which isnt a big deal if yours is 2wd. You might search around to see if other seats will work, the most common is to use cherokee seats, but bracketry is critical, as certain brackets will decrease available headroom. Search, is your best friend.....
  3. According to some PDF factory parts breakdowns, the bolt size is dependent on the year- 1991-93 shows a M10x1.50x34 (pn 6502 442) 1994-96 shows a M10x1.25x34 (pn 6503 299) Not completely sure why there's a difference, as when I looked at my spare 1991 trans it was the second size....I would be most judicious when dealing with aluminum....if you can find either a thread gauge or a tap (which is what I used)or a sample bolt would be best....stripping the housing would be a rather expensive ouch! I tried to confirm these via Chrysler parts direct, but their website is down.....hope this helps, BSG
  4. See my post here: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=12826 If the link is bad, just holler, cause I'm an Internet newbie...can SEARCH all day, but other stuff, never sure if it works....If I see more than a couple parts requests, then Ill make a parts list and some pics....
  5. I have a 92 Comanche, which I think has a slightly different design (the bolts are vertically mounted.) I needed to replace the clutch, as the PO replaced the engine, but left.....the clutch.........while researching a replacement, I discovered TOO MANY people suffered the following issues: 1. POS internal slave design, requiring xfer case/trans (HEAVY items) removal for a "simple" release issue. 2. Immediate replacement parts failure (ie less than a year) of same. 3. High-priced dealer replacement parts, which seem the only ones which last long enough to sell said rig. (or convert to automatic) 4. Plastic hydraulic line which exhaust heat tends to soften after a few years. 5. Chryco's external slave setup, while better than the earlier internal design, still failed enough (more research) that I decided I wanted something almost bulletproof. Trying to find gears while city driving.....draw your own catastrophic picture!   :help: Consequently, I researched the following items, which I am hoping (still on jackstands, waiting for some welding) will at least solve some issues. I modified the Comanche: 1. Converted to a 1994-newer external slave bellhousing and such (if you would like a basic parts list, I'm sure I can dig receipts out of the file) 2. Wilwood p/n 260-1304 3/4" dia master cylinder. 3. Braided steel hydraulic line. 4. Special 3/4 dia slave cylinder I found on another website. Now, my upgrade might be slight OVERKILL, since its 4x2 and for long road trips, but I see it as basic safety/insurance, since it probably won't fail when I need it. I am planning to post some pictures when I finish this project.....just need to figure how to resize and post, since I spend more time fixing vehicles than posting photos....
  6. When the lever pops free, MAKE SURE you DO NOT strike the windshield.....don't ask me how I knew this....TWICE!! d'oh!
  7. Man, you look like you're having as much fun with your 'manche, as I am with mine....aint rust grand? BTW, those rockers "rock"! I share your "PO pain" I found some interesting stuff too....I'm eventually gonna post some stuff, just need to snap some photos and make some more (always more 8) ) parts lists....
  8. Hey all, Lurker here again, was gonna start my clutch master/slave conversion, and noticed one of the seat fasteners was a little damp, you know the rest of the story...RUSTY!!!! I have a couple holes near the rear of the cab, but not at the rear cab seam. Now, I want to REPLACE the floorboard, since there's significant pitting, etc. Who here accomplished this, and left everything mostly stock? Pitfalls? I searched, but nothing really specific, mostly pics.... I'm probably gonna buy the floor repair panels, though some would say just to buy sheet steel, I want the appropriate strengthening ribs....advice welcomed, as I'm a total newbie with this work....I do have an expert welder (at least compared to my level, which is the basement) helping me, so I'm covered there......TIA!
  9. I am planning to measure those seats and see if its feasible....since they seem relatively cheap compared to aftermarket seats...if I find some time, I will see what I can research....mods rock!
  10. Hi all, I'm pretty much a lurker, and love reading about all the different mods presented here....so I have a question for all you MJ experts. I have 92 Comanche, and I want to install some better seats, as the bench kinda sucks. I read XJ seats sit higher with their bracketing, and I know its difficult to find MJ buckets...what would I need to mod for a grand cherokee seat install? would it be practical? thanks again, Bret
