I lean towards GM so I'd favor a K5 (Blazer or Jimmy) over the others. But realistically I'd take any of them.

Yeah, I've lost a few high school classmates over the years. I mean, you expect that things like car accidents or the like will happen. But a few of them have had some health issues that took them out. Hearing about it really sobers you up and makes you think about how much longer you'll have on this ball of rock.

I lived in Orange County (between LA and San Diego) for a while. I never really found any hidden gems. But I did learn that when it came time to driving in rush hour, plan extra time for varying traffic. You may or may not need it. And be flexible in your plans accordingly. Everyone talks about In-N-Out burgers and they're good. But I also like Fatburger as well. They don't get as much good press as In-N-Out If you find yourself near either one, it's worth a shot for lunch.

Go to rockauto.com Select your year model. Search on "Drive Shaft Pinion Yoke". Half a dozen options to choose from. The front Dana 30 and the rear Dana 44 use the same yoke. The Dana 35 uses a different yoke so make sure you don't pick one of those.

Off the top of my head 1. A flat fender. It's iconic. Takes you back to days past. 2. A full size Wagoneer or Cherokee. It's fun to drive those old tanks around. 3. An XJ. They are a true utility vehicle that is easy to drive and it fits in parking lots easily. 4. TJ/LJ Rubicon. It's the last of the evolution of the CJ series before they did a clean sheet redesign with the JK. It's a nice bookend to the old flat fender. The 4.0 is probably the best Jeep engine offered and this one has the last generation. 5. A Forward Controls truck. FC150 or FC170. It's a unique Jeep that you just don't see any more.

Could be the wrong part for the vehicle. Could also be that one of the two terminals broke off. It's hard to see in the picture.

It's a temperature sender. It should ground to the thermostat housing into the engine. Hook up an ohm meter between the pin and the housing. It should have a resistance that changes with heat. Or if it's an idiot light sender, it will switch on/off when you hit the right temp.

I'm not quite 78 but I'm "over 30" by a bit. I was driving when the Comanche was introduced. And we certainly didn't have Comanche Club, much less the entire internet back then. Which is good because there's no evidence of me being a dumb kid from back then. I like being able to share the few things that I know when I can and I like learning new stuff as much as I can. There's always something new to learn no matter how old you are.

What year/engine is yours and what year/engine is the donor. That should be a good indication.

Double check the input spline counts. Both cases can come in 21 and 23 spline inputs. As long as they're the same, they're fine. Bolt pattern is the same. The shift gate is different as was mentioned. It's a good time to upgrade to a Novak shifter for several reasons. The speedometer sender should be the same. Make sure though because I think they changed it around 1996. It works the same but may have a different plug. Also check the tooth count of the gear and make sure it matches (easy and cheap to get another if it doesn't). The plug for the 4wd indicator switch adds an extra pin. Easy enough to deal with though. I don't know if the slip yokes are the same between the two but it would be a good idea to make sure. The 242 hangs a bit lower than the 231 which will affect any skid plate you have for the transfer case, if you have one.

I still have all of my cassettes from the 80s and early 90s. And that includes all of my mix tapes. I don't have a working walkman any more but I have 3 working cassette players at home.

Unfortunately no. We're in the middle of an 8.8 swap on the MJ right now. It's a matter of getting piles of parts out of the way so we can do some other stuff. And getting a TJ Rubicon ready for EJS is on the burner too.

www.jeepstrokers.com has tons of info. Are you replacing the engine in your 86 or was it already swapped to a 4.0? There are some issues with the 4.0 swap with known fixes.
