91 Colorado Red SWB, as base as you can get

Unfortunately no. We're in the middle of an 8.8 swap on the MJ right now. It's a matter of getting piles of parts out of the way so we can do some other stuff. And getting a TJ Rubicon ready for EJS is on the burner too.

www.jeepstrokers.com has tons of info. Are you replacing the engine in your 86 or was it already swapped to a 4.0? There are some issues with the 4.0 swap with known fixes.

"Fine craftsmanship"...

I'm having difficulty motivating myself to do all the sanding I need to do so progress has slowed on my basement unfortunately. Your kitchen looks great though.

It's light enough for one out of shape old fart like me to move around by hand. Lifting it up and stabbing it in place by hand might be possible. But not by me with the Jeep near the ground. Getting the leverage to safely move it around is tricky and I don't like the idea of being under it directly. Two people can maneuver it much easier. If the Jeep was up on a lift where I could maneuver it easier I might try doing it by hand. But I have a transmission jack for a reason so that's what I use.

Another round of snow. Just took this picture with the night sight setting on my phone. Turned out pretty good.

When I was a kid our house number was 668. We were the neighbor of the beast.

It's not easy to predict the future. Still, there comes a point when you need to realize and admit you guessed wrong. Trouble is, far too many people take the attitude "don't bother me with facts, I've made up my mind" so they refuse to admit that they should change course. So they continue to drive the company into the ground rather than admit that they were wrong.

It's like Sears. They had a perfect business model to move the Sears Catalog to a website and use their stores as a distribution chain. All of the infrastructure was there. But the management was focused on protecting the retail outlets so they dropped the ball entirely.
-
I used to like going to the store and grabbing what I want when I needed it. But the quality of retail stores has gone way down overall. In a lot of stores, the employees are less than helpful. The lack of inventory meant that I had to special order a lot of stuff. And the things they stocked tended to be less than high quality. And the prices of everything is so much higher. I remember going in to the parts store and the guy behind the counter didn't have to look in a computer and ask you about whether it's 2wd or 4wd to find the light bulb or wiper blades. And the parts you got at the local store actually lasted. Given all that, it's cheaper and easier for me to just buy things online more often than not.
-
I fully expected a brick and mortar store like theirs to fall victim to the changing retail landscape, given that they didn't chase the online market like they should have. I shopped there back when I lived in California for a bit. It appears that Covid shutdowns just made the inevitable happen that much faster. It's too bad. They could have competed with places like New Egg if they had gotten their stuff together back in the 90's. https://www.frys.com/

Meh. It's just a name. It doesn't affect what the vehicle is or how it works. It also doesn't affect the vehicles that have already been produced. And it doesn't change the fact that the current Cherokee and Grand Cherokee are entirely different than they were in the 80s and 90s. Change it. Keep it the same. Doesn't matter one iota to me.

The Pentium was when they really started getting sophisticated under the hood. The pipeline feeding a trio of RISC cores to implement the CISC instructions, predictive branching, memory cache, etc. all showed up with the Pentium. It was a huge step up from the 486. It's like going from a carburetor to fuel injection.
-
I dunno. I'd say the first few generations of the Pentium were more like throttle body fuel injection compared to the older machines.

I could tell you more than you ever wanted to know about all this stuff. It's what I have done for a living for decades. But I don't want to bore everyone.

I cut my teeth on a TRS-80 Model 1.

I use Microsoft at work because it's the least bad choice available to me. I prefer not to use Apple. I like to have choices in the way I do things and with Apple, it's either you do it the Apple way or you're wrong. At home I run Linux, which can be a challenge from time to time but it gives me the freedom to do things many different ways and it's not Microsoft.

Give it time. We can get there if we try.

They used a torque wrench when they put in the implant. No loose screws here. Just an ordinary hijacking...

What makes this landing unique was that the vehicle used cameras and image processing to choose its own landing site. And it did this with no outside intervention. It was entirely autonomous. We only got exact coordinates after the landing.

Yes. The Grand Wagoneers came with full time 4WD in either an NP228 or NP229 transfer case (predecessor to the NP242). So they put in solid splined pucks with a chromed stamped steel cover where the locking hubs would go. I think I still have one set to go with that axle somewhere. I'll have to dig around this weekend. I also think it needs new u-joints since the old ones were taken out. But I still have the stock shafts. It's a good opportunity to upgrade from the 297X to the 760X.

Yes. It's easiest when you use a truss kit for the front from some place like Artec or TnT customs. The rear is just spring perches and shock mounts. The rear is narrower by a bit so spacers help the put the wheels out where they belong. I have a set from an 88 Grand Wagoneer sitting in my garage that were under my XJ for a while. The front needs a carrier and gears but the truss is on it. The rear has perches set up for an XJ but that's easy to change. It has 4.27 gears and a truetrac. You could probably talk me out of them pretty easily. I'd even consider driving halfway and meeting you on I80 somewhere like Rawlins WY.
