If you have a spare axle shaft laying around and some scrap steel, its a totally free mod that you can make if you have access to a welder as well. I got some grease gun clamps from TSC to hold the shovel in there above the hi-lift as well and bolted my combo sledge-maul on the bed. I've used each one of the tools so far off road and Its so nice to have the rack in the back to carry them on. Seems like you've got some good ideas of your own with the speakers in the door handles and all. Take my design and run with it, improve it for all I care, it's not copyrighted by any means!

Sorry I stole your other one.

Yah. I did the whole hurculiner thing on two trucks of mine and wasnt really too impressed. Granted it was better than the wal-mart stuff - that is just horrible. The problems I had with the hurc was that if it was left in the sun, like most truck beds are, it seemed to "shrink" over time. It also lost its shinyness and whatnot. I had a few spots, especially the tailgate peel up after it got older and I kept abusing it by slinding things around on it. This way I have a lifetime guarantee and it is way thicker than the hurculiner stuff. Say what you want. I like the way I got mine done. 8)

New Member Project...suggestions?

Hey, Hey, Hey Keep in mind that we (at least I) started right where most of the other people on here did (with holes in my floor ;) ). It took alot of time and money to get the truck as nice as it is now. Anyone on here can get their truck looking that good. There are ALOT of you other guys out there that already have. If I were to try and name them off, there would be at least 50 other people on here from what I have seen over the past years that I would consider already having good looking trucks. Nope, no connection, not that I know of other than we share a passion for Comanches just like the rest of you guys here. It sure is great to be around guys & gals that share the Comanche passion. :USAflag: -
It was done at a bodyshop. Bumpers, Bedliner and color-matching rocker guard on the lower body line of the truck = $1000 out the door. - Well worth it though in my opinion. My other 2wd white MJ will most likely get its bed lined after it drives me everywhere I need to go this summer.

One is stock, the other is 11 3/4" higher. ;)

More Pics to come soon. But here are some I've already hosted online from when I was home over break. I got the 44 cleaned up but never got my ZJ brakes in time to get them put on and make it back up to school. So that project will have to wait until spring break now. Most of the leg work is done on it as you will see in the pics below. I just have to swap in my SYEed T-case and the new rearend once I get the brake setup mounted on the axle. I even got the driveshafts for it lying in wait... T-case from a '90 MJ that got my major upgrade. XJ D44 that is getting the ZJ brakes installed. Driveshafts from the local JY waiting to be cut.

X2 on the hammer and socket. Also, for those who don't know about it. Something should be said about the types of joints that the caps are held in with that darn molten plastic. My S-10 was that way. I've heard of people using a torch to melt the plastic out when they change the joints. I used a stationary hydraulic press out at the gas - plant my Dad works at. Reinstall of the joint was with the C-clips in the inside of the yokes to hold the new caps in place. That a pain. Needless to say, I like the Jeep setups much better.

Gas Mileage Issues - Now AW4 Issues
500 MJ replied to 500 MJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
We replaced the O2 sensor with one from another Jeep I had lying in reserve. It solved nothing. My roomate thinks its the ECU. Any thoughts on that one? Yes/No It also should be brought forth to mention that the exhaust manifold is cracked and has a pretty good leak to it at startup. Once it warms up it quiets down some. I have a good manifold, I just need the time to replace it. Is there a chance that the manifold could contribute to the fast idle. Its been cold out these past few days. I went out and started the Jeep the other day just to see if I could hear any vaccum leaks. No luck there. BUT - and this might help you all diagnose the problem - without even getting into it or driving it - touching the gas in any way, it revved up as it would get warmer. It was really weird, about every 30 seconds it would up itself about 200-300 rpms. I think its posessed. -
Yah, if you get a factory one, the leads are already run (at least in my truck). I just had to fish it up from the drivers side b pillar and connect to the plug by the steering column. Once you get the lead to the light plug it in and it grounds through the steel of the cab. Easiest thing I did to my truck and it sure is nice to have.

Project LONG ARMED Manche, Now bed chopped
500 MJ replied to DrThunder's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
I had similar problems welding my clayton kit on the frame of the MJ. Make sure its ground down good and burn it in nice and hot were the solution I found, after it was mostly done  Looks good though. -

Its 5"x 2" I forget the wall thickness (I think it was 1/4", I tried to get it bigger but it wasnt available from the steel shop) Story is that I bought an XJ front bumper from JCR Offroad and I made the rear one to match it. Here is the front. They sold the D-ring tabs as builder parts so I bought those and just welded them on. Yah, it is bedliner. I got the front and the rear bumpers done at the same time that I had the bed done. I also got some stuff sprayed below the lowest body line. Its a rocker guard type product that I had colored the same color as the new paint. All total, it ran me $1000 cash at the local bodyshop to have this all done. I like it though, and its guaranteed forever. Link to the bumper I got from JCR Offroad (I also got the unibody tie in brackets for obvious reasons): http://www.jcroffroad.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=1XJFST4&Category_Code=XJB They also now offer the bumpers to be bought with liner already on them. They didnt have that option when I bought mine. Also if anyone orders from them, they ship the bumpers in bare steel so be ready with a can of primer when it comes in the mail. I like that they do it this way cause it gives the chance to add things on if you want...

Not a bad starter for $250. Keep up the good work!

I know where one is... A friend of mine's younger brother has one in his '86 MJ. Problem is that its a LWB and 2.8L. Both attributes that I would love to stay away from. He had if for sale a few years ago, don't know if it still is for sale or not. Truck was in nice shape too, no rust when I saw it last...

FWIW here's pics of the one I built this past summer... I've since added a license plate light cause I guess its a law or something... don't ask me how I know...

Peugeot BA15 Bolt Question - Picture Added!

X2, check this out first. A set of o-rings,(which you have to keep so you can take them in for sizing reference and buy them from the "bulk" box, only ran me $1.37 and about an hours worth of work including the drive to the parts store...)
