  1. Happy B-day Pat! - Have a Good one. - Brent
  2. Looks like you have been having a blast Roger! Best of luck, keep the pics coming as you build. - Brent
  3. That is a nice looking bumper!
  4. Wow, the ride quality in that car must be STIFFFF!
  5. Looking at buying a replacement one for my MJ I am wondering if there are any upgrades (Like the 96+ newer brake booster thing from XJ's) that I should be aware of before I go out and just get a plain one for my year MJ... Anyone know of anything?
  6. My favorite power tool! The cordless ones kick major butt!!!
  7. Took a trip to Duluth this weekend and spotted this hood cruiser outside of Superior, WI... Yes, it has a WI plate on it too.... "Sheeeeeiiiit Homie!" :D
  8. Bought it from 88swampedMJ - It came in a truck he bought. Its NOT a Comanche roll-bar, its after-market one size fits all. There are no stampings or any way to tell the manufacturer of it either... Can't really help you there...
  9. If you can find a window in the junkyard you can get it pulled or pull it yourself. The trick the yards use is to take an old guitar string and use it as a saw to cut the window from the donor truck. They poke a hole in the glue somewhere and slide the string through. Then someone gets on the outside and someone on the inside and they saw the string back and forth until the window is freed from the truck... Or, professional window installers have a sweet blade that they put on their sawzall and cut the glue that way...
  10. Nope, I just built it. The only pics I have of the build process are what you see above. If there would be a write-up, it would go something like this. 1. Cut out and drill the brackets that attach to the Outside of the frame. Bolt them onto the truck. 2. Use Jackstands to hold the 5"x2" tube in place so that it touches the brackets. Make sure the tube is centered with regards to the frame and that the tailgate has full clearance to open. Mark out the lower body line on the bumper ends to cut off in step 4. 3. Tack weld tube onto said brackets and remove setup from Jeep. Cut braces for the 90 degree between the tube and brackets. Weld braces onto assembly and Finish the welds for the brackets. 4. Cut a hitch hole in the center of the bumper and cut the ends so they follow the lower body line. Weld steel caps on the ends and weld "reese" hitch in the center of the tube as well as a loop of cold rolled steel to hook trailer chains to. 5. Remount the bumper onto the truck and stand back and make yourself feel proud of what you have done. 6. Next, cut + drill the Inside brackets for the bumper to mount to the inside of the frame and tack weld them on. Remove the setup form the Jeep. 7. Cut braces for the inside brackets and weld them to the assembly. Finish the welds for the Inside brackets. 8. Center the D-ring tabs between the two brackets and burn them in nice and hot. Weld on the lower extention piece to protect your license plate from getting bent. 9. Grind + sand the welds you don't want to show up, Prime, Paint and reinstall for the last time...

    Zerk Fittings

Does anyone know the "proper" term for the zerk fitting pictured here? Anyone know where I can buy more of them? I've tried all of the major auto-parts stores and they NEVER have them in stock. I always hear the line "Those are something lots of people come in for, maybe we should start stocking them" "DOH!" Fortunately I was able to get one off of a parts U-joint I had for my front end and install it on my CV shaft when I needed it this time. I've heard them called "flush mount" before, just wondering if people call them other names?
  12. It already has gotten some on it...
  13. Thats what I was hoping to hear. Like I said, I'll look into that master cyl, probably in a few weekends and go from there. I'll let you all know what I find... - Thanks
  14. I am wondering if its a common problem for AX-15 transmissions to not like to shift into 3rd gear. It seems that over the last month mine has been kinda fussy and not wanting to mesh as nicely as it used to when I shift it into 3rd gear. I am trying to baby it now. Is there anything I can do to attempt to save the tranny before it blows up if thats what it is going to do? I have a spare trans back home (400+ miles). I'm not gonna rebuild this one if its on the fritz. I'll just go home and get my other one and pop it in... Also, I know that my clutch master cyl is leaking slightly, does anyone think that the clutch not completely disengaging is the cause of this behavior? Fixing that master cyl is on the to do list, just gotta get the time to do it...
  15. JP mag just did a writeup on repairing your NSS rather than buying a new one...
  16. Good old regular sheet steel cut and bent to lots of shapes and a welder to sew it all together. I've got more pics at home on my laptop if you want to see more, I'd have to get them on the web. It takes lots of time but its time well spent in my opinion... You might notice the bulge by my t-case. That is to clear the clocking issues I had with running a higher clocked Wrangler AX-15. Less of a need for a t-case skid plate...

    Who need ski's??

Did they charge you anything to go out there or was it free? This is so cool. I wish we were able to do this here in the US.
  18. If you have a Mig welder, that is the way to go for patching holes in a floor. Turn the heat down and run a thick bead all along the patch. Seals it right up and you don't have any screws poking through...

    REALLY?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1986-199 ... enameZWDVW This is exactly what I have in my blue MJ, no AC so its hot in the summer. Is it really that rare of a thing to not have AC?
  20. Thats BA! But it would be more BA if the grille was on rightside up ;)
  21. Looks like it was a pain in the butt... - Congrats on being back on the road though.
  22. What are you doing with those stock front (and rear?) shocks? I Need new ones for my 2wd and those LOOK like they have great compression/tensile strength...? Interested in selling them?
  23. Save all of the screws, electrical connectors, lightbulbs and fuses that you come across that are good. They are CHEAP at junkyards but will nickel and dime you to death when you need to go buy them elsewhere... Have Fun, Yards are a blast to go to.

If you want my opinion, concentrate on your schooling. School will stick with you for the rest of your life. Your truck won't, even though you want it to just like I do. :D Buckle down and get your schooling back in line. If it makes your Parents happy you might have a shot at keeping your truck. I learned long ago that even though I didnt think he was right, I should have listened to my Dad when he tried to give me advice or lead me in the right direction. Trust me on this one... Probably echos your Dad's words and its not what you are looking forward to hear... Just cool yourself down for the night and re-evaluate things when the morning comes. Its in your best interest to not try and hide things from your Parents as well. Been there - Done that. I like what you have done with your truck. It looks great. Take it easy. - Brent
