I saw this one. It’s a good idea. Thinking about it, I don’t think oreillys cars what container the oil is in, so long it gets dumped properly.

What are you guys doing for these? My father and I have bought one or two from O'Rielly's and drain cap keeps busting on them. Is there a better pan out there that has no flaws or even a flaw that isnt the damn drain cap? Or hell if you know which pan I am talking about, how about a different cap that wont break?

Seriously?! Only 4 years that rebuild box lasted me!? UGH! Well $200 later, one reman unit in and she is back up and going. This reman one feels tighter than the one I had rebuilt...Little concerning but moving on. It also is a ZJ one so it is not an XJ/MJ steering gear. Makes me so mad. And theres nothing wrong with the old box other than it just leaks out the steering pitman. I have no idea why either. Not like I hit the trails or anything rough. It has a skid plate too so protection is without a doubt there. Thats the only update I have. She has been attending car shows, last one was June 8th so they are all done until september/october. Even the cruise in is done till it cools off.

Did you ever find the front main headlamp harness connector? AMC used it on the rear harness for the XJ as well and I think the HVAC control deck.

I wouldnt doubt this. AMC used an assortment of stuff. I am willing to bet that packard didnt have a connector capable to carry the amperage for the lamps and fuel pump and ford probably did for cheap.

I think what Pete is getting at is for you not to waste your time pulling an old one. Unless it’s an old genuine windshield from Chrysler.

Yep. All XJ and MJ use the same windshield. 97-01 comes with a gasket instead of the metal trim that’s currently on yours.

Yeah it took me a couple days to find that clip. I forget how I found it, i dont know if it was in the catalog or if I found a GM number. But yup!

08905563 I bought these relay blocks 3 years ago and hunted down that clip cause I needed it to clean up the relays under my hood on both Jeeps. But theres the part number for them.

Hmmmm. I think I happen to have one side of this valve setup. I bet you it’s a restrictor that doesn’t dump the refrigerant into the dryer orrrr it doesn’t let mineral oil just flow easily into the dryer and cause a loss of oil. Just a couple guesses. I have a book I’m gonna go read that I have from AMC and see if it says anything.

That’s assuring. I have to take my headliner out here soon and reglue my tweed back to the headliner. I hate taking the interior apart as basically everything is held in place by that damn back panel under the window. Thing is so fragile that it makes the thought of taking the interior apart a nightmare.

I heard that the late XJ doors can be a real pain with power equipment like what you’re having. If I remember right, the power motor is the latch mechanism as well. I could be wrong here. I’ve heard that once the motor fails, opening the door can be a realllllll B.

Headliner first. Then the rest. You might be able to get away with sliding the headliner around with the upper portion of the A and B pillar panels loose.

Mouser has them. They are Delphi relay blocks. If you can find the Delphi connector catalog on the internet, they are in there. I can find them this afternoon after work for ya too.

Could try to add the oil you can see with a UV light and see where your leak is if you can force the compressor to run for a little bit to cycle the fluid through. Or have it vac tested one of the two.

Actually I somewhat rescind this. Didnt @Gjeep fish some wires through to do a locking tailgate?

Do you really want to put in some effort to drill and locate and fish wires through a tailgate thats tough to service? Of course my vote is top, if thats easier.

Since I figured out youtube, here is the first initial test of the swap/wiring of the whole set up to make sure it would crank before attempting to fire off:

Heres me just showing the compressor off for the auto level system. Its not entirely hooked up yet, I need to put in the air shocks and run the air line all the way back to the shocks which is still in the preliminary stage. I also ran the power wire for the trailer brake relay harness to the breaker for the power windows and seats. As to if it works? Well I am guessing so haha. Ill have to just probe the trailer connecter and see if we have brake lights. Which brings me to having the drivers back panel on and cargo cover back on as well! Now what else needs to be done?

I dont have a 4.0 L so I can not help much, and mine is the dealer add on as well. But how did you get the clutch off?
