Usually a good way to test the fan clutch is with the engine off and just see how easy it spins. You want a good chunk of resistance when trying to spin the fan. Yes thats normal oil pressure when the engine is warming up.
-
Check to see if the e-fan comes on when it needs to and test it to make sure it does operate and check the fan clutch. Usually the fan clutch will be very free spinning if it has failed.
-
Usually sitting idle and the temp climbs usually points to the fans or debris being in the coils of the condenser and radiator. If it was while you were driving it would be the other parts of the cooling system.
-
Was the high temp at idle or just driving around? Answering this will determine further answers for us to give ya.

This was before AC. Now I will say when I turn both sliders to heat, I get heat out of the bottom floor vent and it is really warm. But when I slide to "Vents" the heat gets cold and would be my guess of cold air coming in and cooling off the core. But even then before AC it wasn't a noticeable issue. Sometimes reading the owners manual on this goes a long ways but I still never remember what is said in the book lol. I havent deleted the valve and I remember checking one cold morn to see if it was functioning and it was, just heat would come out luke warm from the vents but hot from the floor. I'll remember to clock the heat temps in the winter.
-
Possibly but heat was fantastically blistering in the winter for me so I'm not sure why adding an evap would change the temp of the heat from the core.
-
I feel this is a common problem after installing AC into a non AC truck. The only thing I can think of that I didn't do was clean and prep the heater core before installing everything. Course I cleaned out the inside of the box where the core is but not internally of the core.

Little update. I put the carb on and put spark plugs in and it only fired on two cylinders. Started removing wires for spark plug removal and learned I need new wires. Second on the last crank before I left the car the key got stuck. So I got the key out and took the ignition switch out and replaced it with a new one along with the cylinder with a NOS ford cylinder with keys. Thanks to jdog he took the old one apart and discovered the old one was cracked where the tumblers go. Hopefully more to come. So far I can’t get the headlights to come on which is annoying and some things actually still work. First is to make sure the engine will run, then brake work and then driving. -

Yeah those pads work pretty damn good. Combine them with isopropyl on the pistons and it’ll get the carbon build up off. -
No problem. I forget who makes the one I have but I know it’s ain’t dorman but I don’t blame ya.

Ah. They start with a 650 number. Chrysler still has them but they should be readily available after market. -

Youll have to divulge me on the that book and the 2.5L. Like how they have the 2.5L Renix engine on the cover. Maybe Chrysler knew it was better lol.

Depends, youll have to get under and look at the pumpkin. There is a metal tag on the diff that has an AMC part number and ratio. D35 ratios for 86 are 3.31, 3.54, 3.55, 4.1. D44 ratio is 4.09 and AMC 20 is 4.10. So itll just depend on what axle is under the truck. This is all the ratios the catalog shows for the assemblies.
