Cruise Harness Connector Question
eaglescout526 replied to Big Dan's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
There is a speed sensor. The speed sensor is connected in conjunction with the speedo cable. It sends pulses to the yellow regulator box to keep the speed when you press the set button. -
I happen to have a NOS antenna base. I have an RX173XJ in unknown shape as in can’t get it to power on, not sure if your looking for a radio from 87 or not. Let me know.

I think youre right Pete, I just remember going to AMC salvage one day with the rims the OP has on and getting a set of Jeep five spokes when the owner asked me what was wrong with my rims. Told him they werent factory and wanted some factory Jeep rims. He told me that the rims I had on were only for very low optioned Jeeps and he has been dealing in the junkyard Jeeps since the late 70's so I took him at his word. Now he could've thought they were CJ rims but that was a few years ago. I know Little Red has the same code as the OP so who knows?
-
I think only the cheapest of cheap Pioneer models got them. CJ's got similar rims but those were popular on those Jeeps. My best guess is 86-88 only saw those rims. They most likely helped bring the cost down. Funny enough is they do not show up in the catalog meaning they weren't meant to be listed or they were just cheap trailer rims. I know my grandfather and the PO didnt change anything on mine except the radio.

Nah man this is great stuff. It’s cataloged and will forever stick with your MJ as long as the website exists. -
Another way to get a factory CPS
eaglescout526 replied to Strokermjcomanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It's simple to do but its time consuming. If you have a general know how on splicing wires and drilling a hole through to the ECU, it can be done. Luckily I picked up a couple TSB books from 88 and 89, so it has instructions on how to do this fix. -
Another way to get a factory CPS
eaglescout526 replied to Strokermjcomanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The kit will directly bypass the harness and go straight into the ECU, thus eliminating any and all resistance between the CPS and the ECU. -

It really is more work than its worth. You're probably right. Ive never seen an MJ sport bar in person of both styles so I don't know too much about the design differences.
-
Not particularly, the distance for the wheel well legs is shorter than the LWB sport bar. So you could alter it to fit a LWB by extending the legs to the wheel well.

Dash wire identification help
eaglescout526 replied to marcial88's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
These are the courtesy lamps: To cut costs AMC just had all the wiring there for everything inside the cab. So you may or may not have the fog lamp harness behind the grill. If you don't, it is easy to make your own harness and tie it in to that switch. Cargo lamps are MJ only, its a lamp that sits above the rear window of the cab and illuminates the bed. The ash tray lamp looks like this: The cigar lighter lamp i can't find a pic of at the moment but it plugs into the single spade and has a housing the directs light on to the green ring of the lighter assembly and and clips onto it. -

Classic Cali plate too for those who want that 80's aesthetic to their MJ -
He doesn’t want it. He showed me this MJ last month. His MJ is a long bed and this one here is a short.
-
Glove box isn't removable. Youll have to remove the whole dash.
-
Did you check the relay? How does your vac lines from the canister under the bumper t the fire wall look?
-
Yes it did, 87 and prior trucks. I sold a NOS black vinyl bench seat bottom cover to another member earlier this year.
-
I remember this one. SoCal wanted the rollbar for it. Honestly it looks like a good candidate for restoration. Plus its got black interior and a full early style cluster.

Ignition and Door Lock Cylinder
eaglescout526 replied to comanchefest's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'm probably going to research this route myself as I got a NOS keyless entry bezel that I might be able to hide a little module in for keyless. Someone might have a suggestion. -
Ignition and Door Lock Cylinder
eaglescout526 replied to comanchefest's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Last time I replaced my lock cylinders I found the right ones through team Cherokee. Chrysler still has lock cylinders available but they come dissembled and not coded I think. -
