  1. There was something in the FSM regarding this actually. I would have to find it unless someone beats me to it.
  2. Probably the early ABS I think.
  3. Like the speedo gear itself in the trans? That gear is supposed to be changed out when you go up in tire size.
  4. Kinda sounds like a blown head gasket. I had that issue where it would idle fine (IE going into open loop mode) then it would go back into closed loop and it would suffocate itself from the coolant intake.
  5. I always have my work do AC stuff for me. Now I’d really like to learn and do it all myself for when my family has issues that way I don’t have to play the vehicle shuffle with them.
  6. They should be Pack Con III terminals.
  7. Most folks leave it in power. Basically all it does is it switches a wire in the TCU to change when the trans shifts. So in comfort you won’t feel the trans shift hard. It’ll shift sooner than it would in power mode.
  8. Ball joints have been replaced, Last time was 2018 if I recall. I honestly have no idea if it has helped with my steering issues since that little accident. I definitely had to replace the tires due to increased wear on the inside edge of the tire. I do see an improvement in camber but if this doesnt help then I will have to swap 2wd axles around and hope that fixes the issue if the front axle is slight bent. Orrrrr I can swap knuckles around for the knuckles that have the split rings and get camber adjust split rings. But if the axle was bent I would have castor at this point rather than camber as I can't imagine something heavy dropping on the axle to cause this issue. Old ball joints did feel odd compared to the new ones so I can only hope. At some point I will have to get an alignment again. Oh well, 30+ year old Jeep issues. What can ya do? Guess Ill find out with the alignment. Brush guard next and then an alignment. Or vice versa.

  10. Lol no not yet. This one I want to do over a two day weekend, just in case something wonky happens. Not sure what would happen but anything could.
  11. It’s OEM. I have an OEM transcooler I’m trying to sell so yes it was a factory or dealer add on.
  12. If you have fog or the cargo lamps, swap the switch around and test it. If it works, the switch is good. If not well the yes the switch is bad. Rarely do these switches fail, I had one but the prong came off from the back from weak soldering but even then the switch still worked. Does your trans shift at all?
  13. No. I had to work yesterday.
  14. 84-85 for that cowl panel. Those are rare and hard to find not broken up b

  16. vintage NEW OLD STOCK JEEP WAGONEER STEERING WHEEL maroon burgundy 1984? | eBay Not a bad starting price. Worth it if someone is looking for an upgrade.
  17. No light probably means bad ground. The switch is the same as the fog lamp switches.
  18. Ah haha I had a feeling. Sounds like you have an 86 by the sounds of it. But it takes time to get it clean and neat. I’ve seen worse 2.5Ls that just were a block of sludge and under the sludge somewhere was an engine lol. But at least you have an example to go off of. I kinda didn’t when I first started.
  19. I did read in one of the older posts that the factory power steering shaft has some sort of rubber vibration dampener in it, I suspect mine being the original is probably long worn out as with the u-joints. Seems like going new is a good idea. That being said has anyone tried out any other shafts like a ZJ or a GM one for some beef?
  20. So I did a search and came across a few topics, some wanted, some wanting to know where to buy and some as to what to do. and the newest was I think a couple years ago or so but I want to get a general idea as to what yall think we (as our MJs age and the less serviced parts need to be addressed)should do. Should we get them serviced or should we bite the bullet and just simply replace aging parts as the newest XJ is now 20 years of antiquity and even if its low miles, who knows how long it has been sitting or if its better or worse than new. Honest opinions and ideas welcome. I think its time to replace mine as I go through another steering debacle.
  21. Lol. Either Sunday or the following weeked.

Only the passenger side left. $40 Upper half of a limited XJ vinyl seat cover in what looks like charcoal. I spent a few days restoring this seat back to its color(no painting, only vinyl cleaner was used). (looks to be from a 90 XJ) XJ limited charcoal vinyl headrest. Spent a couple days restoring the color(no painting involved) of this headrest with vinyl cleaner. I think it turned out great. Perfect to replace your damaged head rest or paint over it to replace any other color headrest. $20. (looks to be from a 90 XJ) Bucket seat foam wings possibly from a 90 XJ bucket seat. All are untested, most are in good shape with minimal rust. Not sure why in the hell I have them(and the lamps and brackets)but they are perfect if your socket isn’t working or destroyed.(13 in stock). I also have two that don’t have the mounting hole for the lamp.* Cig lighter light. $5*(7 in stock) these all have been tested. All work but some have a couple burnt out bulbs. Cig lighter plate/bracket. $5. (17 in stock) these will be cleaned before leaving my possession. GM chime module. Tested, it works for the keys in but not seat belt. Pin out could be different for that but hey it’s not a buzzer. $20 High beam switches. All look to be in good shape. $10 ea. These are for 84-88 less flash to pass feature. They are genuine. weather they work is unknown. Maybe I will test them when I get the chance.
