  1. Manual transmissions of the AX4 and 5. If you’re lucky enough, you can find a Dakota 2.5L bell house to swap an AX15 in.
  2. I have a part number if it’ll help. 03764863
  3. Okie dokie, we await your report back.
  4. That’s actually sounds like a tale my cousins would tell from their days in the force. Course they’re redneck so they even have some more wild ones. But glad you got the battery back. Gettin that blazer towed made me chuckle a little. Bit of karma right there.
  5. Have you checked the front sockets for rust and corrosion? They are a common problem and is highly recommended to replace them with newer XJ front sockets to remedy this problem.
  6. The 2.8L would’ve come with the newer A900 series. That’s the key is finding a 2.5L with an AW4. That engine was commonly mated with the manual AX5 trans. So if you find one, that’s a lucky find. As for the year on the AW4, I do not know. I’m sure someone who knows the AW4 better than I do will chime.
  7. Any other possible GM 60* auto trans but you might have issues with lining up the rear crossmember. Otherwise no, no other years will bolt up unless you find a 2.5L auto(AW4 and not Chrysler A700-900 series) which shares the same bolt pattern as the 2.8L. Or going manual is an option.
  8. added graphics
  9. It’s up above the drivers side kick panel. If it’s factory, should be a white square relay with an AMC part number on it that should start with 895600. If not then it’s probably been replaced. Either way the relay plug should be three pronged. Two on top and one on bottom. Or vice versa depending on how you look at it. If it can’t be found above the kick panel, it could be tucked behind the panel.
  10. Sounds like the horn is shorted to ground somewhere in the column or the relay. Pull the relay first. Should kill it. Swap with another relay. If that doesn’t work, dig into the column to the turn signal switch assembly and see what’s goin on.
  11. JEEP AMC NOS VINTAGE TWO (2) INTERIOR LIGHT SWITCHES MADE IN FRANCE 3 1/2 X1 1/4 | eBay Not a terrible price but high. I don't see any packaging, pics look to have been taken decades ago and they have a different plug in style.
  12. 3.7L isn’t the best Chrysler V6. If I recall it’s supposed to be a power tech to succeed the 4.0L. But that engine is the reason why the pentastar exists today.
  13. You don’t see too many JK8’s popping up.
  14. Oh hell yeah! I’ve been keeping an eye out for local car shows. Thank ya mini! Actually that was interesting. I had trimmed the openings for both the books and guard, tried to slip the guard over with the pieces bent back and came to the realization that I need to accept my loss on the dam and cut the flaps I bent off. Otherwise that was pretty easy with a cut off wheel.
  15. Did you see that one guy on Facebook who bought a 93 press kit of some sorts for the MJ?
  16. Oh ho ho not done yet. Ok now were done lol. That bra actually was a pain but given between installing the two, the brush guard was more challenging. But holy crap what a change!
  17. Todays list starts off with an oil change. Last night I swapped a door panel out, gonna swap the other side and post a pic of that. As I wait for the oil to drain out and I eat some lunch I decided to tackle the front end cover. So far so good. Kinda digging it. God I havent see that front in a while.
  18. I think they are the same. I don't posses and Eagle parts book so I have no absolute way of telling if they’re the same. Which’s reminds me I’ll update my post with some pics.
  19. Oh I would also like to add that the labels for this conversion are still very much available at one dealer. I’ll probably order some just to have on hand for those of you who want to add that “dealer” conversion authenticity rather than shade tree/non dealer mechanic conversion done.
  20. This 48k-Mile 1985 Jeep Cherokee For Sale on Bring a Trailer (caranddriver.com) Its got System Sentry!! Some lucky soul is going to have a well preserved XJ.
  21. Thanks! Had I known this existed when I was installing my AC, this wouldve been posted right away.
  22. Extreme long shot but I know you guys in the east coast seem to have some older XJs floating around but I am on the hunt for a Shock Absorber leveling kit/system. I’ll post a pic of the diagram when I get home but basically the system consists of a compressor and wiring to air up the shocks. I do not know how it works right now but I’ll figure it out in the FSM. Model years it seems to have been for 84-86 XJs but I suspect it fits the AMC Eagle as well since the model years for the set up is 80-88(Eagles run). Full graphic: The compressor I am after:
