  1. I picked up a stock tcase for $75 here not sure what it will cost in your area. 3K is a lot for the average MJ around my area. It would have to be in great shape for that price. Good paint, interior, and drive train before I would give that much. I would also pay more for a stock truck than a modified one. Lift kits are cheap and you will know what you have if you do it yourself. How did he bust the tcase?

  5. New ones are $43 each at advance auto I picked up a used set at the pull a part once for like $5 but I had to look at several until I found one with good bushings.
  6. removing the shims would help but I don't think that will be enough. I have 3" of lift with stock arms and no problems so if I were you I would be looking for a set of stock arms.
  7. Check out the DIY section. You can find out how to properly measure ride height and control arm size for your lift.
  8. don't worry about the pinion angle its you caster thats going to be the big problem. If you fix that your pinion will be fine. It looks like it still has a lift on it but If you have stock coils you need to put stock control arms back on. I would measure to see just how much lift is on it. The control arm mounts on the frame are stock.

  10. I would be looking at the crank position sensor. I believe it controls the injectors and is a common cause of failure to start issues. Edit. I'm trying to remember if its for the spark or injection I'm sure someone will chime in to clear it up. I don't want to send you in the wrong direction.
  11. well see that's my issue, i can't find the 4wd trans in a 5 speed manual, always the AX-4, Redwolf Someone chime in on this if I'm wrong but shouldn't Redwolf also be looking for a trans from an S10 donor? S10 2.8 with 5speed was way more common than the jeep with 2.8
  12. I wouldn't try to patch it if it has any leak at all it will not pressurize the system and the water will boil. Just go to NAPA and pick up a new one. As far as swapping to an open system I wouldnt worry about it the closed system is fine as long as your pressure tank is sealing properly.

  14. I don't understand how this tells you about the performance of the truck. Maybe I'm missing something?
  15. Did you remove a head bolt? On the 4.0 some of the head bolts are exposed to the coolant not sure if ghats true for the 4cyl or not. Some pictures would help.
  16. I am planning to weld some patches into my floor pan later this summer and was going to try and use my stick welder. I found some small 1/16" 6013 rod that I was going to try. My plan is to practice on some scrap to see how it goes first. If I can't get it to turn out I will probably just buy a new mig welder. If anyone has any experience with this or any tips let me know. Thanks
  17. its easy to do a 4wd swap the complete HO swap is much harder in my opinion. You just need a better donor than the 1999.
  18. I believe the seat notch was just to clear the transmission shifter. It should work fine.
  19. You need to check the front and rear to be sure they match before you finish the 4wd install. Like stated above pull the covers and read the numbers on the ring gear. You probably need to change that fluid anyway.
  20. None of this is necessary these trucks don't run hot if the cooling system is functioning properly. The electric fan should run when the A/C is on not sure what triggers it. What year are you working on?
  21. thats a nice looking truck anyway. I personally would not worry about the D30 front unless you are planning on something radical. Lots of people wheel that axle with no problems. There is also alot of aftermarket support for the D30 to increase its strength.
  22. That looks like the stock D30 to me. And those look like an aftermarket wheel that was popular in the 90's not any factory wheel I know of.
  23. I wouldn't worry about it and I wouldn't throw away good oil to change it out.
  24. so replacing the radiator will fix the issue of the coolant cap not sealing?
  25. If you use a lift with AAL from an XJ it will work but it will give less lift in the rear. Some XJ kits use blocks, this will not work as the MJ is spring under. Some XJ kits use complete springs, this will not work because they are too short. I have a XJ kit with AAL on my truck. It gave me 3" of lift in the front and 1-1.5" in the back. This makes the truck sit about 1" taller in the back and I like the look.
