My 88 has one on the left front fender ( viewed from the drivers seat) why would his 89 not have one unless someone already removed it? Do you have a 4.0 or a 2.5? I have yet to see a 2.5 with one.....nor does mine. My bad I have a 4.0 no experience with a 2.5

reusing Amc head bolts?
nitroxsteve replied to BlackBeast's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I reused the ones in my 4.0 with no problems. I don't see a problem with reusing them once. -

I know about frams reputation but not about the anti drain back. Is there something wrong with that? -
They probably took what gas they could and let the rest go.

why don't 4.0's like them? -
I have a 3" lift with stock arms and everything is fine. You will not need to drop the tcase and most will recommend to not drop it. The only thing you will need to do is drill a new hole for your track bar to center the front axle back up.

Oil Filter Comparison Page

I wouldn't put too much faith it comparisons from a manufacture who is trying to show its product in the best light. The first thing I noticed is that they say the purolator is over 3/4" shorter than the napa but in the side by side photo they look even to me. Also when showing the filter material unrolled it looks like the purolator has taller pleats so it will be shorter but may have the same or possibly more material. IMG_06511.jpgThe proper way to compare would be to stretch out the material and measure the surface area. That being said I think both products are good quality. Edit: I see they do list the paper surface area it just looks misleading in the picture. I also can't tell if they are actually saying one is any better than the other. I should have looked at this on a bigger screen than my phone before commenting . Lol -
Correct me if I'm wrong but the 2.5 and 2.8 share the same bell housing bolt pattern. I think the OP wants to use the transmission from his 2.5 and bolt it to a 4.0. Or am I reading it all wrong?

I don't think you can use the trans that is currently behind the 2.5 with a 4.0

http://metalgeek.com/static/deflection.php check out this calculator. Use the setting for free ends because your rack will be able to flex. You will see that going up in tube size will give much more strength and you can drop the wall thickness to save weight. As far as running the angle the full length of the bed I would do it simply to protect the bed sides. And I would remove the tool box and set it on top of the angle iron. The main thing is to use a calculator to estimate the load capacity.

I would probably look at using larger tubing with a thinner wall. I also think rectangular tubing would look nice. Make the rear crossbar removable and think about using angle iron that will go the full length of the bed rail for the rack to mount onto instead of just individual pieces under each leg.

wheel spacers need help

Take off your rear wheel and you will see that the axle sticks through the drum. Your wheel rides on this shoulder just like on the front. -

From what I know about you I wouldnt be worried about tucking the tires up into the fender. I think you are more into splashing through mud holes than climbing over obstacles. As far as using spacers to clear 31's you will probably be trading rubbing the control arms when turning for rubbing the back of the fender when turning. Either way you will probably rub a little but not that much. If you just want it for the look of the tires sticking out go for it. If I was in your shoes I would order one set of 2" spacers and try them on the front first if its too much stick them on the back and order 1.25" for the front. If you like the 2" on the front order anouther set for the rear. You said your friend was going to get them for your birthday or Christmas why not one set for each occasion and if you realy want to sling mud try taking off your fender flares I don't think florida cares if you have any tire coverage, but someone with chipped paint or cracked window may.lol i do like goin through mud holes but splashing through is all that happens, VA doesn't have really go mudding spots (well atleast not the hampton roads area). and i'd rather rub the fender that's melted some than the control arm, but i see what you're sayin about buyin one set and if i like it buy another, Redwolf and I knew you were in va not florida I don't know what I was thinking about. Not sure about va and the wheels sticking out. -

wheel spacers need help

Are you wanting to put spacers front and rear? If so you don't need much on the front to get them to stick out. Most people use the 1.25" on the rear so it will mach the front. I also don't believe the spacers will hurt anything even at 2" its exactly the same as changing the back spacing on the rim. -
That would be a good guess but he told me he once had a 2.8 Cherokee and it was the best running thing he ever drove.

Doesn't pulling the lever put it in 4wd? Pushing it down to the floor is 2wd. Or are you talking about the linkage directly on the tcase? -
One of my biggest regrets is that I never served and now I'm too old but I do what I can to support all who did and do .

It will fit no problem. You can go to the u haul site and put the tow vecicle and towed vehicle in and it will tell you if it is compatible. I had trouble once because the guy at the store was putting the info in the wrong spots. It would not allow me to tow a extended cab 4x4 1500 chevy with a Comanche and I don't blame them for that. But after I figured out what he was doing wrong everything was good.

Had a guy ask me if I wanted to sell my truck a few days ago. This is not too strange as it happens from time to time. I told him it was not for sale but he can make an offer if he wanted to go look it over. This is where things got very strange. He was very interested until he found out it had a 4.0 engine. He is wanting one with a 2.8 and he would not be interested in it with the 4.0. I think I found the only 2.8 fans on the planet. LOL

Fender Flare Mounting?
nitroxsteve replied to Knucklehead97's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I used bolts and washers to hold my flares on while I repaired the brackets. The problem with this was that I had to leave the fender liners out because I could not hold the bolts with a wrench when installing the flares.
