Breaking In New Gears
nitroxsteve replied to Blue88Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The only thing I would do on that list is change the oil at 500miles. The gears are heat treated so no need to worry about heat cycles or a break in period. If everything is setup properly you are good to go. But that's just my opinion, I would follow the advice of the person who ibstalled the gears. -

86 2.5 Periodically Runs Poor

I have heard of a crack in the exhaust causing the o2 sensor to read incorrectly. I believe it has to do with the location of the crack. I agree that if the crack is after the point all of the different tubes from each cylinder merge together you will always have some type of pressure in the pipe. But if the crack is in the tube between the cylinder and the collector when that cylinders valves close you will have a dead space with no flow. The scavenging effect of the other cylinders at the collector will cause a suction and draw in fresh air in through the crack. This fresh air is going to affect the o2 sensor. I am not sure if this is the op's problem or not, if he has had the exhaust leak before this problem started its probably not it. -

I would answer your question but I don't want to hijack the thread. LOL -
Edelbrock 4.0L Cylinder Head?!!

I would think the biggest advantage would be the weight savings and I wonder if you would gain any cooling advantages. -

Seriously? How much more drag can they add to our brick shaped vehicles? Thats why I installed the nose off a 70 Plymouth Superbird on my truck. Its basically a direct bolt on ill post pictures later. The only real drawback is that I can't run it in the nascar truck series anymore. They said I was cheating. -
Looking at the picture of your splines they do look a little worn but I would not worry about it doesn't look very bad to me.
-
For your question about the orientation of the t/c it just splines in. You should turn the t/c as you spline it in and you should feel it clunk 3 times one for each splined shaft and one for the two ears that drive the pump. Some people make the mistake of not fully splining in the t/c then damaging it or the pump when instaling the transmission.

Engine Stall With High G Force

Hey, the difference between a cold donut and a hot donut is I can eat 6 cold ones and 48 hot donuts, that's the difference. Si Robertson -
Rob 12.1 in a truck that light is way too slow for 517 HP. If optimized that claimed combo should be running high 10's when it hooks up. That ET indicates closer to 390-400 hp. Still not bad but just a reminder that "confirmed" may not mean "real." NHRA rules say a roll cage is needed if running 11.49 with a hard top and 13.49 in a convertible. I don't see a roll cage so maybe running 12's for that reason. Some tracks will flag your car if you run faster than your safety equipment allows.

I don't know if you qualify but Harold is having a blast..lol..

As far as not people who don't buy new cars not affecting what is on new lots is untrue IMO. I am sure that Jeep would not want to loose the resale value of the wrangler. I don't think Chrysler would want a bunch of used wrangler sitting around their lots in a couple of years with no market to move them into.
-
99% of trucks sold never haul anything other than groceries, 99% of sports cars never see a track, 99% of all convertibles drive around with the tops up 99% of the time. I don't see anyone saying the manufactures should stop building these vehicles. Lots of people buythings that may not be the most practical for their needs but thats what they want to drive. I'm not sure I consider my self a true "Jeeper" or not but I did buy the first JK at my local dealer in 2007 and is got a fair amount of off road use, I also purchased a new 2012 grand Cherokee and it sees a little off road even if it does have independent suspension front and rear. Would I buy a new wrangler with ifs/ irs no but as I said earlier I still don't think it will change anytime soon but I could be wrong.
-
They went through this when the wrangler changed in 2007. Everyone was talking ifs but it turned out it remained straight axle. I could be wrong but I don't think it will change. Jeep is selling the JK like hot cakes. I think manufactures start these rumors to generate sales from from people who are afraid they will miss out on the current model. Harley Davidson does it all the time.

I would bid but the rims don't match.

I always understood torque as the ability to do work and HP is how fast it can get that work done. Maybe thats an over simplified definition.

One day is pushing it but I think it could be done in a weekend if you don't run into any problems (Rusty bolts). don't forget to ask for the tcase shift linkage including the part that bolts to the floor. It probably takes me longer to pull the seats and carpet to install the shifter than to R&R the front axle.

I also don't mind the peugeot transmission. Is it as good as the AX15 probably not but its not so bad. My truck still has the 2wd peugeot that I changed the tail shaft housing on to convert to 4wd and its still going strong. By the way at 150k the D35 has been replaced by a previous owner and I have rebuilt the 4.0, so the only thing original is the Peugeot. Lol I also wonder if the biggest problem with the peugeot was the funky square drive drain plugs. I think this caused the transmissions to be neglected for oil changes and probably contributed to their short lifes. Especially for people who use the chain lube shops, they probably just said skip it.

I was not aware of the battle of Athens thanks for posting, and I agree this is one of the most important reasons for the 2nd.

New Shocks, Monroe Sensa Track Load Levelers
nitroxsteve replied to airspeed's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I think the reason they don't list for the MJ is because of the height sensing valve for the brakes. If the truck does not squat for the added weight then you won't get more brake pressure to help stop the extra weight. I have never found any overload or air shocks listed for the MJ. -
Neewbie..loose Steering
nitroxsteve replied to 13 Legion's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It could be anything in the steering.. You will need to get under it and see. As said above track bar and tie rod end are a good place to start looking. -
Ok but don't cry to us if it gets all rusty in the next couple weeks....

I agree... The US government needs to turn over everything to the states and then shrink itself to the size that was intended to be when this country was founded. The state militias could collaborate to secure our borders While I'm pissed about the current state of affairs, why not talk about people dependent on government assistance. Some people need help, I get that. But why do I have to work my @$$ off and miss seeing my daughter grow up just so I can give 20% of my money to be redistributed to pay for someone to sit on their @$$. Assistance needs to be temporary not a way of life. Why should they be able to buy Red Bull and candy bars? How about putting restrictions on what can be bought. Oh yeah and how about drug testing applicants for assistance? I have to take them for my job. Shouldn't they have to take one to spend my money. I once saw a lady talking on her cell phone, driving a newer cross over SUV, pull into the food bank and pick up a box. Some people's priorities baffle me. X2

I think anyone who would use convicted felons to argue gun rights is struggling to make an argument. prisoners have lost all right not just gun rights. felons can't vote...not to mention their right to freedom. LOL
