Well.... finally after 6 years of owning him.. Pedro has finally made his way towards the top of the project list. So one of the first things that needs done is replace his Menard's Off-Road rear bumper. My problem is I'm not quite sure what stock bumper mounts look like. I had some pics at one point that might have been 3 or 4 computers ago. If anyone can post a shot or two I would be deeply greatful....

I agree with you about respecting other forums, they all have there place on the web. But then you follow that statement with.... Not trying to be a "holier than thou", but isn't that statement disrespecting other forums? :dunno: Fair enough...Your right.
-
Oh damn. You're complimenting the grande olde farte too much! Unfortunately, I tend to agree........ Don... Actually I consider you in much of the same light.

You go on to start a thread, that was completely intended to TROLL.. the premise of restarting Scorpio's thread was nothing more than a smoke screen and wonder why you get treated like a troll? Scorpio is a big boy and a former Naxja member, if he really wanted that thread alive he would have put it back in the appropiate place. You have had an axe to grind with the Naxja organization for whatever reason. This isn't your first anti-Naxja post, thread or pm here. I do appreciate what Pete created here. Alot of the guys here a good people and pretty knowledgeable at the 'art' of the Comanche. Adding a community reputation heavy weight like Eagle was a stroke of genius or luck or maybe a touch of both. But entirely too many of the posters here come off with the 'holier than thou' type of e-attitudes, and demonstrate a complete lack of class. To go on a different forum and create a thread about how you hate another part of our community, because your buddies thread got deleted for whatever reason demonstrates exactly that. Pete or Eagle or whoever else moderates here should lock this thread out of respect for other forums. Letting threads with no other purpose than the drag other forums through the mud adds nothing. It only makes the hosting forum look worse. Much worse. Personally, I think Pirate is pretty much a wasteland. Just about useful as JU, just on the other end of the spectrum.

Sorry for it being stolen. But DAMN that first pic is has me pissing my PJ's laughing...... Could you guys possibly found a more hillbilly setting for that??????

The old company used a sorter truck and a packer. The sorter picked up the recycling, and the packer took the garbage. But we are expected to believe that the new one does it with one truck..... Right..... I've been to the dump, there are NO sorting machines there. Just the old fashioned compactors and bulldozers...
-
We stopped recycling.... Our local garbage company got the contract for recycling. They stopped running the sorter truck, and started throwing everything into the packer truck.. They insist they are sorting it at the dump.... Yea, right the Teamsters are out there in the dump sorting the cereal boxes and tuna cans out of the pile of garbage......

Another Reason I hate BA-10 (Pukes)
whowey replied to MiNi Beast's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
How often do you have to move the in-laws? Are they a problem? The wife has seven brothers and sisters.... I have LOTS of in-laws..... But I've moved differing parts of my in-laws about 25 times in the last 14 years. -

I'd rather keep it stock. But I don't wheel my MJ, its used for hauling stuff, moving my in-laws, and general truck jobs. If I couldn't find a BA-10 reasonably priced, I would change to an AX-15... -

If you lived closer and the price was right, I'd buy it just to have a spare for mine.... I'm at 120k on this one and the original lasted 140k, so I'm looking for a spare one now, before I get stuffed over a rebuilt one. -
CJ-4's are another, much like the Agrijeeps. 327 Waggies Dauntless v6 CJ-5's I know where one of each sits...... The waggy the guy uses to drag logs out of his timber to slice into firewood. He won't sell it, I offered to buy him another truck to trade..... The Dauntless CJ-5, I know of the guy is about 80 and he uses it to plow snow in the winter, he just lets it sit the rest of the year.... The same guy has the plow and the sickle bar mower from an AgriJeep sitting there. I've tried SEVERAL times to buy even the implements from him. His son swears that when Dad finally buys it, he's selling me all the Jeep stuff....

I use chains, but the co-owner of the trailer 'borrows' them from his employer. If I buy him out, or get this other trailer I'm looking at, I'm going straps. Just to drop the 400 or so lbs of weight carrying all that crap around equals to.

Holy Dead threads Batman!!!!!! I've been kicking around selling my MJ. It sits at the back of the drive, with the bed loaded full of crap to go to the junk, plus all the spare tires that don't fit in the garage. It doesn't get driven and I feel like its going to waste there. My wife won't let me..... She says I won't be able to find another when I finish the XJ in the spring. She is even willing to budget in an indoor storage for it, and the tow rig now that we bought a van. I can't complain.... But she sees how the husbands and boyfriends of her friends want to gamble/drink and screw around. I'm out in the drive or garage f@#$'in with my Jeeps. Plus with 4 females in the house , the boy and I need to escape.

I use 0w-30 the entire year. But that is true synthetic.

SPOBI I know PA had 'cinderella' liscenses..... I used to spend summers in Erie with my grandparents. My cousins used to love when I came out, because with an out-of-state liscense I wasn't subject to the liscense curfew. We would be out running around most of the night, when their friends all had to be off the roads. It certainly made getting up for chores a process though......

In IL, you can only have members of your immediate family. IE Mom,Dad, brothers, sisters if its the first year of your license. Its to keep the kids from doing the really stupid sh@t, we did when we were that age.
-
the 242 was also available in comanches, it's just rarely seen Gonna need some evidence of that... First, don't start that crap again..... Second, you've been around long enough to know that anything is possible when you are talking about AMC-era Jeeps... :beerhead:

A bunch of those are the same as the HF unit. The few that are better, its the wrong season for that. 4 kids, a minivan payment, and that fat red coated SOB on his way.....
-
I've used the Harbor Freight one for the sets I've had to do. I haven't had any problems with it flexing or twisting. Its a pretty hefty chunk of cast whatever metal they use...... If I could find a good used one from one of the big tool companies, the HF unit would find itself a new home in the Jeep, or the tool box in the truck.

I don't even think the it lasted until the XJ limiteds were introduced.... I seen the thing in a couple of 84-85 Wagoneers(the 4 headlight version). But I know where an 88 XJ limited with literally every option is sitting.(Including the built in cell-phone(about $2k at the time)) and it doesn't have it. Plus its not mentioned in the optional equipment brochure I have from 89. BTW, I love the woodgrain dash.

Buwhahahahahahaha!!!! I was just in Kent last week, doing some set-up for moving our warehouse. That was possibly the most boring week I've spent....

x 2 on the budget being low.... That D-35 won't survive a 350. The painless kit for a 350 with a carb is relatively cheap(compared to other painless kits), but then you get the problems of a carb. If the aquisition and repair costs of the 350/700R4 were low enough, you might make $2k, maybe if you had access to most of the other pieces needed cheaply, or just deleted some of the body parts you need. Take a Renix 4.0l out of one of your seemingly never ending fleet of Jeeps, and drop it in. I have the feeling you could probably trailer-park engineer a longer shifter for the transmission, and the needed linkages to work the t-case. The clocking issue wouldn't really rear its head, if you used the tranny out of an XJ/MJ also.

Gas smell - but no gas leaking! Any suggestions
whowey replied to robfg67's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You could see fuel laying down in the heat shield tray below the injectors. That's how I found my leaky O-ring. Also the vapor canister could be plugged... -
It would be a 4.0l HO. My experiences.... The ride sucks, 4 wheel leaf springs and a short wheel base completely blow chunks for everyday driving. Drivetrain is proven, almost every part is available in the aftermarket. Personally, the wife wanted one. I don't. The horse drawn buggy ride isn't me. Not to mention, at the large trail rides I've been to Wrangler owners seem more 'cliche' than other Jeep owners(not counting Willys owners) You'll see Wrangler owners watching other Wrangler owners try and put their junk back together. Cherokee and Comanche owners aren't that way. You'll see every XJ/MJ owner in a group up to their elbows in a broken family member to get her rolling again.

If that book is by Jim Allen, he has stated that several times in other books he has written about Jeeps.
