I came close to that a couple of times. But I couldn't pull the trigger completely sight unseen. But I only own three Jeeps right now. So I'm not completely addicted.. or at least I keep telling myself.

Love the tires. Not crazy about the wheels. Level the front out and drive it like you stole it...

You know, I had been wondering about the EGR. I used to have an Impala SS years ago, and they were bad about having slow speed running / idling problems when the EGR went bad......I'll be sure to check that. Question though: I haven't checked the fuel pressure, and I plan to do so; however, if I, in fact, had a clogged fuel filter, wouldn't it run fine at idle, but have problems as I ran at higher RPM's? The truck runs great at anything over about 1500 RPM........just curious It certainly could have the effect with a mostly clogged fuel filter. At idle there is enough fuel passing the filter to run fine. When you need more fuel not enough gets through and it starves the engine. If you can remember the last time you changed it. Its probably time to anyway.

I'm gonna agree with Pete about a the desert part. The picture of the Comanche parked in sand near the house lends to that. But I wonder how he got a 103" wheelbase??? The bed looks stock from the pics.. And I wouldn't let anything as half-assed as sheetmetal screws and jack-nuts near my junk. You aren't mounting those to anything structural there. They don't add strength except that of the steel itself. They belong right down there as self tapping screws for mounting parts and brake line extensions. Half-assed parts lead to half-assed problems.

Cerebus Capital took a beating on the deal. But this is the gamble they take. Sometimes they hit it big.. Other times not so... This is the third time a foreign auto company had a major interest in Jeep. Didnt really work out to well for Renault or Diamler.. Will Fiat do any better?? Time will tell..... Supposedly, Fiat coveted the Ram Pick-ups, the Caravan line and Jeep. Look for them to jettison everything else.

Which is what I have been telling you for a couple of days.... :smart: -
That is one TRASHED brake rotor in the one picture.... I used to have a set of those on the wall in my garage off of my SIL's car.

Aaahh.... the infamous toll roads... Originally they were only supposed to be there until the roads were paid for.. about 30 years ago.

Thanks for answering my questions even though it was mild hijack...

Okay.. I will drop some at Rob's for you... I don't have any per sey.... but I know where there is some ;) I wouldn't go bragging on any Wisconsin roads... Many of your state construction codes are more lax than those of Illinois....

Watch out for alot of consumer stuff that is not resistant to brake fluid. How many square foot are you covering? Do you care if its clear or not? http://www.daytonsuperior.com/c06_Film_ ... l?pcid=162 This is industrial strength stuff. This has been used in dealer service bays and repair shops. Planning a trip south of the Cheddar Line any time soon? Or is Rob heading up there??? I understand I owe you (and Rob) for a gas tank.... I gaurantee I can beat any price you can find on a sealer....

With disk brakes, it has to be out of a Grand. It's not so much crap in the case, it's that the case IS crap. The Grand Cherokee "Dana 44" has an aluminum case that warps if you look at it cross-eyed. The internals are not fully interchangeable with those of a "real" Dana 44. There's a reason it's for sale for $60. The seller doesn't want to man up and pay somebody to haul it away. Would the brakes work on a real Dana 44?? I see them for sale all the time. But I think I remember people saying it has a D-44 center section but a D-35 tubes and outer parts....

I still have the plywood fuse box the OO made when it leaked in and destroyed it. -

If the track-bar is stock.. there is no possible way that is a 5 inch anything lift. I have a 3.5" RE on my XJ and it lifted mine about 4.5" when I first put it on and now has settled to about 4" after 2 years. The stock track would have the front axle drug over so far you could easily see the difference at 5-6"

I may be in cali working (installing new h20 filters and tea breweres in some resteraunt chain called "jack in the box") Watch out... those breakfast Jacks will make you gain weight.... JiB is a BIG chain of fast food places. We just don't have them here. Rob... Clip the cow with the rig... I dare ya!!!! I almost hit it once when I worked for Menards. I wasnt paying attention when I turned in the intersection and I came VERY close to giving her a haircut...

Well after managing to punch a hole in the gas tank over memorial day weekend, I need to replace it on the XJ. When I did the same job on the MJ, I had a can of aluminumized paint that I painted on the tank. Six years later and it still looks great. But I can't find the can, or remember the name of the maker of the stuff. Anyone got a product they have used, or know of a good one?? I think it may have come from Eastwood as I used to use alot of stuff from them when I was building cars. After digging the mass of mud and crap outta there and getting the skid plate off and the tank loose. I'm not in a hurry to do it anytime soon. So extended its life would be great.

Since you WORK in WI..the Wisconsin laws prevail. I work in IL for an OH company. So in my case IL laws prevail...

Pat.. please don't hold back.. tell us what you really think..... :rotf: Looks like a fun time... I'm guessing its in Michigan???? Starting to get enough parks around the midwest I'm beginning to lose track of where they all are.... For me at least its great to have to ask, which park is this one???...
-
Cool... thanks guys at least thats one thing I don't have to try and replace... And don't worry... thats not much rust at all... Live in the Rust belt for awhile and your perception of rust changes.

Well I finally got a little bit of time to work on the Comanche. Got the Menard's Off-Road bumper off. But now I need to know if these are the stock bumper mounts or some other strange combo the PO created... Thanks guys!

Thats the same seller I bought some knock-off 'blue' headlights for the ZJ from. Burned out VERY quickly. Like the first sub-zero day...

What differential lube to use?
whowey replied to Luvtohunt's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Synthetic lubes don't get as hot as conventional ones to begin with. But that is the second time I've seen you post that. Do you have a link to some manufacturer stating that ??? Because unless it states such clearly in their warranty paperwork, it would be a violation of the Magnuson-Moss Act. You have said in the past that you work for a Valvoline store, so I wonder if this isn't a case of a company rep feeding you guys a line to drive sales. i tried to find it again and couldn't, i actually got if from a link from a trusted friend on another forum, and its come up in other threads, and it is true. i'm not the only one to state it. conventional oil disipated heat a little better in differentials. synthetic filled diffs ran hotter than conventional. dangerous, no, just a fact about synthetics. i can try to get the link again though. Not just that.. but the part that gear manufacturers are denying warranties if you use synthetics. They cannot specify a certain brand or manufacturer of lubricant. All they can specify is a certain industry-accepted specification, like GL-4/MT-1, Mack GO-J, Dana SHAES 234, etc....
