  1. heck ya he got my windshield, looks good to :clapping: It looked like it was in very good shape on the that YJ... Other than the broken hinge that someone booger welded back together and it broke again, the CJ frame was in good shape.
  2. LKQ bought it... It used to be called Kishwaukee Auto Parts. Its on Harrison about a block west of Kishwaukee Street. The old Rockford Screw Products plant is across the street.
  3. Actually, TSB 21-014-07 added the AW4 to the list of trannys using ATF+4. Do NOT do this. When I teach trans class I make sure every tech understands that this is not a good idea. The AW4 was designed to use Dexron. It is about the cheapest fluid out there. Use it. The AW4 is a great tranny. Why mess with it. Interestingly enough.. this TSB is dated Apr 2007... after all the AW-4's in Jeeps would have exited their warranty period except late sale 2000's and 2001 models.. Yet in Oct. '06 Chrysler specifically exempted AW-4's from the ATF +4 recommendation.
  4. Rob... know why that tank smelled of gas so bad???? One of the vent cap plugs is missing... Figured that out when I got it out of the ZJ upside down... Did you end up pulling that YJ windshield??
  5. Ya could have called.... After soccer.. didn't do crap yesterday. Piled more garage junk in the MJ and worked on the house a bit. That CJ had been for sale locally for awhile. I had seen it on the local Jeep club board, Greed-Bay, and CL. The owner thought it was worth ALOT more money than should be payed for a half finished project. A C4C rebate was probably more money than anyone would offer him in cash. Told you, you would like LKQ... They REALLY cleaned it up in there.... Its pretty nice JY now. And good to finally have a real pick and pull type around again.

He is confusing the XJ D-44 and the MJ D-44.... The one in the XJ was harder to find and only available from 87-90(very limited) The MJ version... 87-92 under all the metric ton MJ's out there. More than likely..he has no idea what he is talking about.. or is hoping you don't so he can run the price up.
  7. Next time skip the gear oil and use Lucas oil stabilizer. Does the same thing... thickens the oil... Gear oil additive packages contain some things you don't really want running through the engine. Lucas is just base stock, a bunch of thickening agents and a small amount of additives. So there isn't anything that would negatively effect the engine. This is the only thing that Lucas is really effective at, thickening the oil.
  8. What are you doing with the gear oil????? 80w90 gear oil is not the same thing as a SAE 90 motor oil....
  9. Thanks for the laugh... the title made me chuckle. Normally a T-case operating correctly make no noticeable noise. Rear wheel bearings or pinion bearing would be my guess at a culprit.
  10. Same exact filter as the Mobil One filters.... Usually I see the purolator filters a buck or two cheaper than the M-1 filters.
  11. You sir have all my sympathy and respect. I quit your forum because of its members. I can only imagine having to attempt to keep them in-line. Rob.. if you can manage to get that harness in my hands.. I can ship it for free.
  12. Wonder how much pissing and moaning they will do about the parks this year??? These guys gather up a bunch of rock jockeys and pretend to go wheeling at all different parks all over the nation. But if its not just one boring @$$ rock crawl after another they write article after article whining and complaining about the parks.....
  13. The drivers door hinge was broken at some point and the door crushed the fender??? Or this could be a trick for us to find all the stuff wrong for the OP to beat the salesman silly with....
  14. What do you need?? I have 4 or 5 D-35's in pieces sitting around... Rob.. if it comes to it.. 3.73 were part of the trailer package. Mine is a 94 Laredo with the trailer package. I've got 3.73 and a Trash-loc in mine. If I can get ahold of a ZJ rear that would be good, I'm making a grill/trailer out of the front engine bay of a Jeep, and I need something for an axle. If I can't find one, it's no biggie, should be able to make one. So... after I said something in the other thread about a yard trailer and you said you were too busy and no fab skills... now you are building a trailer... ;) Anyway.. Gonna leave the carrier in or find some other way to run shafts? I have at least one or two that are non-C-clip housings from XJs.
  15. What do you need?? I have 4 or 5 D-35's in pieces sitting around... Rob.. if it comes to it.. 3.73 were part of the trailer package. Mine is a 94 Laredo with the trailer package. I've got 3.73 and a Trash-loc in mine.
  16. I've done quite a bit of research (and looking at them in various countries) on export XJ/MJ's to everywhere and never saw anything about D44 fronts. Do you have any additional info? Thanks. Sorry no.. Just a memory of a member here from South America that had one. IIRC his MJ had a D-44 front out of an XJ. It seems like it was Venezula, but I might be wrong. There have been some pictures floating around various places since then. But no links I have at hand. BTW, thanks for the strokers site link. Lots of good info on there. Never realized it even existed, just the yahoo group complete with Yahoo's lousy set-up.
  17. There were about 7 or 8 ZJs are LKQ Auto parts in Rockford last time I was there. They are pretty cheap.. and you pull your own. I have a 23 spline NP-231 sitting in my parts pile. It came out of a wreck I bought. I had planned to open it up and take a look at the inside and use it for something down the road. But if you need it...
  18. Unless you are talking about the export XJs and some MJs to South America. They had D-44's in the front. We had a member here that had an MJ with a Front 44. I can't remember his name anymore. Don't forget those FSJ 44's have that 6 lug pattern. Wheel selection is kinda more limited.
  19. We could have it in the parking lot of JC Whitney and throw their crappy parts at the store...
  20. There is a magazine(or was) out there called Home Power. It had TONS of info about the subjects you need to understand. They offered alot of their articles in PDF on CDs. I have a couple of them... Absolutely required reading...
  21. That thing is SWEET..... Too bad its probably gonna end up with someone that hacks it up... We tried to get the one that the Belvidere Chrysler Plant had.. But the management wouldnt let anyone buy it.. it had to go to a scrap dealer...... :fs1:
  22. :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: That would be pretty gross to clean up. :ack: At least it wasn't a larger animal, I'd wonder what a deer would do at that speed (or a moose). A guy hit a deer at our local drag strip a few years back.. he was doing 140 mph at the time. Deer went through the windsheild..through him and was laying hangin out the rear window on the trunk lid.
  23. Best use I have ever seen for one of those nasty little pieces of crap.....
  24. Did you call about it???
  25. I always wanted one... but I never had the space for one. Now that I have a bit of extra space.. I have no money to build one... And there is a 92 carcass on CL here.... :grrrr: But then I would have a hard time justifying having it. With a full-size truck, a Metric Tonne Comanche and a 16-foot 7k lbs. Utility trailer.. I don't really need any more hauling capacity. But keep the pictures coming... I really like the idea and execution. The price is complete bonus.
