Congrats on mjotm! Well deserved and awesome build. Can you build me a stroker in your spare time? That would be great Buck. -
That is awesome!!!!!!! If you tour car shows I am sure you will get some offers to buy it. Thanks for sharing! Buck.

Wow, some of the stuff I see on here is impressive, your work included. It is cool to see the detail, thanks for sharing. My father was an industrial arts teacher, I was always into the woodworking aspect of it, wish I would have learned how to weld from him. Keep the pics coming!

Welcome to the madness and that is a great find! Buck

Great work man, keep it up. I was looking through all your pics and didn't read every posting so I hope I am not saying something someone already has. I would highly recommend you get a LLC filed and get basic liability insurance. I have a teaching studio (drums and percussion) and those are two things that I make sure is done every year. Now I have more worries that you have being that I am around kids one on one but with this litigious society you can't be too careful in protecting yourself and everything you have and worked for all your life. Just something to think about. Buck

Thanks Don, use it mostly to haul equipment, mostly drums. When I found the place to get free mulch I figured out how to not get it everywhere. The plywood "box" comes apart easily and gets thrown in the attic. Wish I had the bedslide the whole time I have owned the truck, smacked my head getting in and out so many times I can't even count.

Couldn't resist showing off the bedslide

Congratulations Chase, great story and hope you have continued success with your mj. Buck. -
There are 2 shipping options some of you may not know about. If you guys are shipping to a fellow mj owner or just needing to ship something to friends or family and the item might be too big or expensive to go with one of the common options, ups, fedex, usps etc., you can check into uship.com or greyhound shipping. I used uship to get my new (used) topper from South Carolina to me without having to drive to get it. I only paid 100 for the topper and it only cost me 300 to have someone put it on their trailer and bring it to the Orlando area. Now this was 5 years ago but even then it was cheaper and easier than driving to get it myself. You post your item and then people bid and you can choose who to go with but you are not obligated to use them. I needed to ship a family made cradle from Orlando to Kansas City and after I received a few bids I pulled the ad, I think they thought it was a priceless heirloom, I received bids from 900 and up. That experience made me remember how I received something I bought on ebay, Greyhound shipping. You can take any package to a Greyhound terminal and they can ship it to another terminal for a lot less than the other options. The online estimate for fedex was 250 and I made a plywood box for the cradle and it was 80 with Greyhound. Hope this helps someone, Buck.

Rockmj's 1990 Eliminator Overland Long Haul Project
buxmj replied to RockMJ's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Hey Rockmj, how are you doin? So glad to see you have another mj. I can't imagine the work it took to get rid of the cigarette smoke. I used to be able to tolerate smoke but can't bear it now. Once in my bar playing days (glad those are behind me) my cymbals even reeked of smoke, I had even washed them with windex with ammonia! I can't imagine what my lungs took for punishment. I am very impressed you got the stench out, since you are a non smoker I am sure you would smell it immediately. Sorry I didn't know you guys were up this way, please let me know if that happens again. As always, your work is impeccable, keep it up and hope to see it in person soon! Buck. -
Just texted him. He is doing well but doesn't have internet at his house right now. Said he hopes to get it back soon. Buck.

I haven't posted in a while and figured it was time for an update. The mj is now in the driveway because of my new project, a '58 cruisers inc lapstrake boat which is in pretty bad shape but on it's way in the restoration. The mj had been neglected so I spent several hours the last few days with a clay bar and car cleaner/wax getting the bird crap and dirt out of the paint. Although it has been 4 years since it was painted (I had it painted in 99 also) the paint is still in great shape and I don't want to let it fail. I also bought a car cover to help keep it clean. I still want to do some upgrades that include brake booster upgrade, fuel injector upgrade, getting the ac working again and several small projects. I really appreciate all the time you guys put into your mjs, they are inspiring and helpful. I wish I knew just a small percentage of what some of you guys know about these vehicles, it's amazing. Thanks for the inspiration! Buck.

While reading this thread I got depressed knowing that I paid 12k for my mj. I guess I shouldn't feel bad since I've owned it for almost 24 years. I keep wondering if it will ever be worth 12k again. That would be great if it's any time soon and I have to not think of all the money I've spent on it. I will keep it and think of all the months I haven't had a car payment, at least for that vehicle.

Don,I remember when we first got our 2 American eskimo puppies, I took them to get fixed, my wife picked them up, she was the hero. The next day I was home with them, I went to the bathroom and when I came out, one had peed right in the doorway. Later I went to the bathroom again and the same dog pooped in the doorway. The dog eventually forgave me but wondered if they ever would trust me. My wife and I sure do miss them, our daughter wanted replacements soon after they were gone but we aren't quite ready to replace them. The little one has guinea pigs to play with for now, which is fine. Buck.

Welcome to the madness! Good luck with the build and yes you have found the right place for info w/o attitude, so many willing to share with others. You will be giving out your knowledge sooner than you think. Keep us posted. Buck.

Hey Johnny, I was just thinking yesterday, "we need to get away for a day at the beach!". Get some good r&r and hope you are feeling better. Buck.

Does anyone notice how tacky the wrong size topper looks? I think the roof rack disquises it some but if you're going to ask for that kind of money, please put a topper on it that fits!!!! My $.02 Buck.

Ben, looks like a lot of fun, enjoy! Congrats on the mjotm. Buck. -
I like the progress of your truck. I know it's killing you to get your truck back but it will definitely be worth the wait. Great pics of the great work you've done, keep it up. By the way, I think your wheels and your rear bumper would look great on my truck, planning a trip to central florida anytime soon? Buck. ps-like the name of the truck also!

Sorry, haven't posted in a while, still enjoying reading through all your updates. I think the only thing I have done in the last year and a half is paint the wheels and drive it. Reached a milestone I thought would take me forever to reach. Since my mj has not been my daily driver for about the last 8 years, the miles don't rack up like they did the first 15 years of ownership.
