This is a very good point. It will be limited to smaller programs such as the office suite as mentioned, don't expect to run something like photoshop.

Glad to hear these aren't going to the scrap pile and will go to good use. As for them having XP, I don't recommend giving any organization an XP machine unless they are fully aware that security on the device is absolutely nonexistent and it will run slow... Very slow. If they meet the minimum requirements for windows 10, I'd recommend installing it. You can download the install files from Microsoft's website for free and it runs just fine without a product key. The only downside is that you have a watermark in the bottom right corner of the screen showing the build number. As for vga cables, I will look but I think I got rid of most of mine a while back. I may have a dvi cable laying around if any of those pcs have a dvi port of some kind. Edit: I've also got a box full of parts (psu, cpu, mobo, ram, CD drives, floppy drives, cables, cases etc) from old XP machines, if you need a part for one, send me a message and I'll see if I have one that will work for you.

Let me double check the part number before you buy one. My memory may be wrong. Wanna make sure you get the right one. If you happen upon a lighted MJ visor on your search, I'll trade you my lighted XJ one for it.
-
I have an XJ Lund visor I can confirm when I get home from Omaha on Sunday. By memory I think it is 19040 for the XJ.

I'd say give it another shot. I think this is a cool idea and we can have fun with it. The jack-o-lantern idea was good but I didn't even see one this year, I think I only saw maybe one pumpkin. It just didn't feel like Halloween this year.

It definitely looks beefier than the stock yoke. You order one for the front too?
-
I'm thinking with smoked lenses and vertical lights rather than at an angle.

This is awesome! Anyone make one for the MJ? I'd pay shipping if someone made me one this nice.

Clean Bonestock Base 92 MJ - FL
Dzimm replied to HOrnbrod's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
My 2 door 98 SE came with an idiot cluster as well. Pointless cluster IMO. -
This is definitely a good thing to do but make sure you do research on what kind of condition these trucks are in in your area. For me in Central Iowa, if it has a straight and clean body, you pick it up or you'll be buying from out of state. In general these aren't usually found with a good clean body anymore and when you come across one, you have the money, and are willing to do some work, it's a good idea to pick it up.

I've run both Rough Country and Rusty's, both considered "bottom of the barrel" but I've never had an issue with sag or poor ride quality. Both performed better than the worn out stock springs I took off so I was happy. That said, I've never used "high end" springs like OME so I don't truly know the difference in ride quality. I have never once heard a bad thing about OME and would love to try out their products if funds allowed. I just worry that if they are truly wayyy better, that I would never be able to handle the ride of cheaper springs and always have to fork over the big money.
-
Definitely agree with the above, buy it. None of the "problems" mentioned are scary. Even if things go bad, parts are fairly cheap and easy to replace on these. Like said before, if it's clean and straight, it's worth every penny.

Did the PO know the cause of it melting? That would be the first thing I'd look into. What part of the harness is melted? You should be able to just cut and solder if it's only a foot but with as many wires you'd have to do, it may be easier to get a new harness.

4.0 Back of head freeze plug
Dzimm replied to 88whitemanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You should be able to drop the jack all the way down even at 4.5". That's what my truck is at and my trans hung low enough to bottom out my floor jack. -
There is always a possibility of dry rotted hoses, you'll have to check them to see. What year truck is it? If it's Renix then check out cruiser's renix tips in the DIY section. Even if it is HO there is some good info there so I'd check that out regardless. Best things to start with is make sure all fluids are new, check the tires and brakes, clean all grounds and electrical connections that are easy to reach. On these old trucks there are numerous things that can go wrong. To be more specific we need to know more about the truck like year, engine, trans, etc.

Yeah you should be able to go until the trans is damn near on the ground unless you are lifted like crazy. -

How low did you drop it? You should be able to see almost the entire head with the tranny dropped down. -
I know I won't make it down for that. Once the salt is washed off the roads and I can get the truck out and make sure it's good to go for the year we'll have to plan something.
-
Maybe sometime next year we can plan a weekend trip out there with the MJs! Mine is in winter storage already so this year won't happen.
-
Wow you guys aren't that far away from me, only about 5 hours. I think you may be the closest CC members. If you make a trip closer to Kansas city it's only a 3 hour trip from Des Moines. Any good offroading in that area?
-
Yes they do, worst one I've found so far is eBay. It is missing sections that the full site has, like your full purchase history.
-
Hmm that doesn't show up on mine. Must just be the mobile site being dumb. That's interesting, definitely a good way to make a profit on a totaled vehicle tho. Specially since a dented panel damn near totals a car these days.

Where does the ad say that? It says it has a new VIN too so how would it be salvage?

Death wobble is getting old
Dzimm replied to creep_in_the_jeep's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I definitely agree, death wobble is a problem in any vehicle like you describe. I was more talking about bump steer than death wobble. It makes sense to me that bump steer would be more common in a lighter vehicle and that you can get away without a steering stabilizer in the big truck because of the weight of the truck. I just wanted to make this little statement/argument because I felt the thread started to trend towards the thought that the steering stabilizer was there to prevent death wobble when that is entirely not the case. It's there to prevent bump steer. I do feel however that bump steer could be the start of a slight oscillation that makes the death wobble start but the death wobble's true cause is something else within the suspension.
