Fuel Pressure Leak-Down Test
jimoshel replied to HOrnbrod's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
About 3 years ago I ran the leak test on a '87 2.5. It dropped to zero the second I turned the key off. Been driving it like that ever since. Doesn't seem to hurt anything. Jeep runs great. Just for what it's worth. -
I didn't do it. It was like that when I got it. Honest officer. :brows:

Isn't the dash the only thing needs to be swapped? Some Jeeps has tags on the rad support but I've never seen or heard of a cop doing a VIN check go beyond the dash. A couple years ago I got a MJ without a title. It was a tow job and the guy never sent the title. After trying all known means with no success I swapped a '88 dash from a Xj over and got it titled as a UP. Utility vehicle.

A couple months back i was talking to a fella in New Mexico about a .90MJ he was trying to sell. Was asking 8K for it. 4.0, AW4, 2WD. 140K. The nicest thing could be said about was 100% rust free. Engine sounded like a burnt ex valve and tranny was slipping. When I asked him why he was asking so much for a worn out Jeep he replied, "Because it's super rare". I sent him a pic of 8 of my MJ'S lined up in a neat row and asked him, "So just how rare is it?" Never heard back from him. :dunno:

Oh WOW ! ! Loved that shot of the Clifford set up. The first hot rod after market item I bought was a Clifford dual carb set up, very much like the one pictured. only for a '38 Chevy 216, Ran it a whole week before I put a rod thru the pan.

The larger one is the C. Use it. Just plug everything else up.
-
Can you tell if the mechanism is working or not, or is the door froze shut?
-
It's your Jeep. Hook up or unhook whatever you want to.How ever I'm assuming you asked because you want to improve engine performance. My experience is based on a '86 MJ with a blown 2.8. I swapped the engine with one from a '91 S10. Had to swap the intake manifold and carb so as not have to fool with the TBI set up. Kept the serpentine belt set up with the S10 engine. By the time I got thru the only vacuum hoses still hooked up was to the distributor, the choke and the primary and secondary plates.. Removed all hoses going to the air cleaner. plugged holes as necessary. It was an improvement. Now It can almost keep up with my '87 2.5. There are four ports on the front of the carb. From left to Right, from the drivers seat, they are B,A,D and C.

There was some use in the Arctic but not near as much as in the Antarctic. In the Arctic they were mostly used when traveling on ice and not so much on land. Different Conditions made Antarctica much more susceptible to crevices than in the Arctic.Once when I was down to Upernavik, Greenland I saw a early Scout mounted on a set of tracks and sporting a stringer. Think it belonged to the Danish police unit stationed there.

They were using 'stingers' on Antarctica snow sleds and track vehicles many years before one ever showed up on a Jeep, or other off road vehicle. Frankly I think that's where they got the idea from. Check out some old National Geographics.

Got a foot of snow on the ground with another foot waiting for me to clear the sidewalk and drive so it can fall. Last thing I'm worrying about now is brake lines. I do believe I have that. Just give me a couple days. Jim

I have absolutely no idea. :hmm: Not sure if you can even ship one by Fedex or UPS. Makes you miss Railway Express. When the snow clears I'm going to take one in to the local office and find out.

Remove the OP sending unit and screw in a real oil pressure gauge. Mechanical. Just a check.

^ good one.

Probably the same price it would be to ship one from 20187 to 81004

WHY ARE HEMORRHOIDS CALLED "HEMORRHOIDS" INSTEAD OF "ASSTEROIDS"? :dunno: :hmm:

I have several short bed roll bars. I need a long bed roll bar. Any body got one for a straight across swap?
-
Tell him to keep it.

The worst part of growing old is the loss of friends along the way.
-
Forgot to mention. The price is negotiable. Hey Ben. If you want I can just send you one. You try it to see if that's the problem or not. If it's not just send it back.

Got a couple. Worth $897.22 to ya? plus shipping. Got your choice between a '87, 91, 94 or a 96.

Most Likely A Dumb Question
jimoshel replied to jpdriver1's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
To steal the thread, but is is on the same subject. Can R12 and R142 be mixed or should you flush out all the R12 before charging with R142? -
'84-'86, '87-89 Instrument Panels
jimoshel replied to jimoshel's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It'll be going into a 2.8 6cyl. The '88 is from a 4.0 6 cyl so that parts OK. I have a '86 with idiot lights and I'm going swap the full cluster into it. Also there's a couple guys advertising for a fuul cluster under wanted so maybe I can sell a couple. Get the tach to work with a 2.5. -

I have a '86 3/4 cluster. The BIG gas gauge and no tach. I have a bunch of ''87 up full panels. I want a '86 full cluster, small gas gauge in the lower left hand and a tach. Speedo cables are the same.
