  1. I will sell any one that wants one, the complete front clip, everything firewall forward for $150. At present I have two '97 and one '98
  2. Gonna quit selling stuff in Pueblo and go to Denver. Just sold a fella a 98 XJ sport for $800. He got in it and drove it home, probably listening to the stereo on the way.
  3. Got one for the later model WJ gurus. This morning I went to look at a 1999 WJ. Fella said it had a bad motor in it. I thought it might make a good donor. For $500 I wasn't expecting much. Tried to start it. Been sitting for a couple months, Battery was dead. Brought another car around to jump it. I got out, key was left in the on position. Shut the door. Went to get back in and the door was locked. No more keys. I couldn't load it with the steering and transmission locked so I passed. Suggested the guy call the dealer and see if it might have one of them sat lock opening things in it, or call a lock smith. Could have busted a window as I have extras but didn't want to commit that far without hearing it, or trying to. Not sure but think the doors locked when we hooked the jumper to it. Question. Why did the doors lock? In that situation what is the best way to gain entrance?
  4. Use a little imagination. You can make anything fit anything but sometimes the results just aren't worth the trouble or effort. I have taken bucket seats out of several model GM and installed them into a J10 and J20 with good results. The only buckets I ever installed in a MJ were out of a XJ.
  5. One out of three. Close enuf. :rotf:
  6. Since a person only turns 21 once in their life I decided to make mine a memorable event to remember. I scaled Mt Rushmore, barefooted and parachuted off the top of Jefferson's head. While driving a piton into Teddy's nose a big chunk broke off and in falling killed the poor chap that was taping the event. Why I don't have a video of the event. Upon leaping off Thomie's head I realized that in the excitement of the moment, I had grabbed my back pack instead of the parachute. Dirty socks and a T shirt do not make a good canopy. Fortunately two buzzards who were flying around in anticipation of their forth coming meal got to close and I was able to grab them by their legs, for a safe descent to earth. Upon safely landing I immediately jumped into the Jeep and headed for Arizona where I was going to jump the Grand Canyon on my 5hp Cushman motor scooter. Evil advised me against it but I ignored him. I figured he was just jealous and pissed because he wanted to do it first and I beat him to it. Wait until you hear what I did on my 49th birthday. Not to mention my 65th, both of which many doom sayers predicted I would never reach.
  7. Lady brought her '00 WJ over the other day. No lights on right rear. Didn't look nothing like that. Busted two of the sockets just trying to get them out so I could check the bulbs. Was a real PITA.
  8. Jennifer Aniston?  Same thing happened to me but unfortunately the date offer came from Roseanne Barr. :ack: :( When I asked Rosie for a date she told me she'd rather date a dog with a cigarette hanging out his mouth than me. :fs2:
  9. ENJOY IT!!!
  10. Rob, They work great on small parts but if you're making a deep cut and get crooked it can get nasty.
  11. I can't understand anybody doing anything as stupid as driving off into deep water. In my over 60 years of driving I have never done anything that dumb or anything else that stupid, NOTE: This tirade has been interrupted by a lightening bolt from above, striking El Jimbo on top of his curly hair and exiting his bod thru his now curly toes. :jump:
  12. Since the XJ and MJ are identical from the firewall forward, why can't you put the tail lights in front? Should fit then. :dunno:
  13. Drove the '86 MJ to town. Sitting at a stop light and the car next to me honked and rolled his window down so I rolled mine down. "Is that a MJ he hollers." " Yes, I replied," "thought so but couldn't tell for sure under all that mud. Nice" gives me a thumbs up and we drive off.

    Calenders

Received my MJ calender today. Very nice. $20 well spent. Thank you Ben for your effort making them possible.
  15. I believe your confusing the slosh pan inside the tank with the skid guard located underneath the tank.
  16. The Jeep yes, but there is no way in Hell i would take a horse out in this stuff unless it was an emergency. Yes, a horse will go where a Jeep won't but unless it's necessary I'm not gonna do it. And there are back trails the natives know that bypass the police barricades.
  17. They are the same.
  18. We're completely cut off now. They've closed every road, major and minor into and out of the area. !2 inches in the yard and still coming down. Guess it's time to go skiing.
  19. If your frame is sagging, there isn't a ball joint, adjustable or fixed, that's going to do you any good.
  20. Not sure. It would be a set of real genuine imitation plastic coated high compression hub caps or a 10 speed variable pressure windshield wipers. Chrome plated fox tails are neat. I'd probably just get something that cost 50 cents and keep the change.:hmm:
  21. Jeep P/U'S I have owned, other than MJ, that I can remember now. 1947 3/4 134, 3 sp, 4WD 1951 1/2 230, 3 sp, 4WD 1954 1/2 6cyl, 2WD 1960 ? 1964 Gladiator 1/2, 327,4 sp, 4WD 1970 J10. This is the only Jeep I ever bought new from the dealer, Buick 350, 4speed, 4WD, 1/2 ton, Forest Green. $4200 and in my personal opinion the best Truck Jeep ever made. That 350 was unstoppable. 2-FC150, 4 cyl 1 FC170, don't remember the years on those. 1976 1/2, 360, 4sp 1983 J10 360, auto, 4WD I currently have a 1975 3/4 that I have a snow plow mounted on and a 1977 3/4 that i use for towing heavy trailers with. Both have the 360, 4 speed, 4WD. I'm sure I missed a couple but that's what I remember. This is a personal opinion but if I were to go looking for a Jeep truck now I would look for a 68-70 J10 with the Buick 350, 4 sp and 4WD. I would not rule out any year, model if it had a straight, rust free body, irregardless of the drive train.
  22. Because a V12 or V16 wouldn't fit? :dunno:
  23. There is a 8lb pressure difference between 4.0 and 2.5 fuel pumps. I have swapped both ways, 4 pump into a 2.5 and a 2.5 into a 4. Never noticed a bit of difference in the engine running. As for the tray, I believe it was just a "why not? Can't hurt" on the part of the designers.
  24. I have got two gas tanks from the JY, both had holes punched in them. I just welded them shut. The purpose of the tray is to keep the pick up in gas. The tray keeps it from sloshing and having the fuel pump suck air. For normal driving and keep the tank full, don't go below a quarter of a tank, and you should be OK. There are those who claim never weld a gas tank. That is their opinion. The way I do it is to drain as much gas out as possible, empty it. If you have access to a inert gas, fill the tank with it. Don't use water. Water just doesn't hack it. I use exhaust from a running engine. Run a piece of tubing from the exhaust pipe to the gas tank. With the engine running wait until the tank is warm to the touch. The tank is now full of carbon monoxide which is inflammable and the heat has evaporated all the gas fumes. It's best not to use an older engine for this as the exhaust can accumulate carbon and blow a glowing red piece into the tank before it's cleared out and a nice noisy BOOM occurs. Ask me how I know that. If the tank is warm all over, to the touch it is safe to weld on. If your really opposed to welding, or just don't have the equipment , then solder it. No flame and it works. As for the other stuff, the last time I was at the dealer a couple months ago, I got a half dozen of the 'O' rings and same amount of tubing connects the fuel pump to the filter. It's still available.
  25. When I was living in New Mexico I chopped the back of a 1968 Cadillac Leaving the side panels and tail lights original, A La El Camino. When I moved to Colorado and applied for new titles I told them I wanted to register the Caddy as a P/U. Explained what I'd done. He wanted to see it so we went outside and I showed him. He checked the VIN, SOP for out of state transfers and gave me a title, and plates for a 1968 Cadillac pick up.
