  1. According to the 1986 FSM there was the 207 and 228 transfer cases. According to my 1986 owners manual the '86 had selectrac and command trac. I feel that this proves beyond any doubt that there was a factory service manual and a owners manual for 1986 Jeeps.
  2. Believed to be stronger than any of the others.
  3. 207
  4. Your welcome. I wanted to know what happened to him also. Couldn't have found him without that info from Pete.
  5. I'd try taking it apart first and seeing if it's just dirty and jamming.

    T shirts

Received my T shirts today. Very nice. Wish I'd ordered a couple instead of one. Thanks Brett.
  7. Sheesh..I get 12 out of mine. 14 if I really try. 360, 4speed. And yes, it IS a tank.
  8. Wondering what the question was? Did she ask him if she could drive his MJ? :D
  9. Age is just a meaningless number. It's how the joints feel when you start 'em up that counts. :D
  10. DJM is going thru a messy divorce. He's alive but has pretty well dropped out of society. He has one MJ left but it is in the ex's yard and he can't touch it. He sounded like hell on the phone so I didn't want to press things. Just left him a invite to call anytime, maybe we could get together sometime and kill a few. Beers that is, Not ex's.
  11. Me too.
  12. I tried to run him down a while back. Nothing. When he registered with CC did he give a last, full name?
  13. Out of a '91XJ. Radio, AM-FM works but tape doesn't. Anyone wants it $20 shipped.
  14. I have a snow plow mounted on the truck and it never leaves the yard. I'm only interested in traction. Not fuel economy. When needed I swap the adapters between the two J20's and that gets to be a PITA so I want a adapter or a slug. I didn't know they were called that.
  15. Yes, I did. Maybe 20-25 years ago there was a article in one of the auto mags on a similar device. It was much simpler design, half round like a rocker and you could either remove the bumper and clamp it to the mounts or use clamps and clamp it to the bumper. It was home made and simpler design but still worked. I used it once on a CJ5 I was working on. From there it went to the corner of the shop, then outside, then cut apart and the tubing used for another project. That should tell you something right there.

    new year

I resolve to get enough MJ'S so I can drive a different one every day of the year. NOTE; When El Jimbo returns from fantasy land he will be permitted to post again on Comanche Club Forum. :rotf:
  17. Sounds like the ign sw to me but it also could be the starter solenoid. Hook a remote starter button into the circuit, one lead to the bat pos and the other lead to the little terminal on the solenoid. Now when it doesn't want to start hit the remote button. If it starts then the ign sw is bad. If it still doesn't start then it's the solenoid.
  18. :agree: Kind of. Everything Pat said is true. However I do think there are some uses for it. Think major body work. No engine, no axles, no exhaust nothing but a stripped body and you're prepping it for some major body work. Stripping rust, getting primer, paint into every nook and cranny, etc. MPO.
  19. Shop around. I've seen them asking anywhere from $75 to $450 for just the bed.
  20. You don't have to completely remove the gas tank. Put something under it so it only drops a inch or two. After removing the bed, place something, I used square tubing, across the frame and fasten the tank back up to it.
  21. If there were anything about a MJ that I didn't like, I wouldn't get it.
  22. I'll double yellaheeps offer and throw in a cup of coffee. :brows:
  23. I need a set of hub adapters. I do not need the lock out hub. Just the piece of aluminum that bolts to the hub and the lockout hub bolts to it.Or I will take the cap that permanently bolts to the hub and axle stub.
  24. Did you remove the torque converter cover and and look for any clues? Can you rock, wiggle move the flex plate at all? Possible causes, cracked, broken flex plate. Loose flex plate mounting bolts. Starter not disengaging, Cat crawled into bell housing.
  25. :agree: Sounds like he's trying to see how hard he can make a simple repair. Also don't 'ASSUME' what axle ratios are just by year and model. Out of 14 MJ and 11 XJ-ZJ in my yard. there is not one 3:07 ratio. they are all 3:54 or 3:73 with one 4:11.
