  1. I used an Or-fab tube bumper for the rear of an XJ, wasn't too heavy and is very protective
  2. Although this is 3 years old, I've found and scrapped 17 cars in total in the woods by me... All of them were there for AT LEAST 20 years. Some had trees 12" in diameter through them. Most were already falling apart or pieces stripped already but I'd cut 2 up in a day and make a couple trips to the scrapyard. I'd call it cleaning up the woods more so than stealing :D
  3. I have a pair of rear flaps as well
  4. Listen Dan. You're going! No ifs ands or buts!
  5. Been riding since I could walk, my local track just shutdown and now there's only 1 really expensive crappy track to ride at on this stupid island :(
  6. All the weight is put on the driver side so when you step on the skinny pedal the torque lean doesn't kill the pass side leaf pack so easily.
  7. Good start and great score on the free black interior! Keep up the good work
  8. Here's those mudflaps, don't drool too much! These actually came off cherokee_chiefs truck when my other friend owned it. The owner before him must've cut them to fit because I don't think they came that way?
  9. Tinkered on both trucks yesterday. Put my HIDs and headlight housings in the little manche and straightend the driver side rear shock on the bug truck as well as flip the shackle around because its bent and would make contact eith the hitch if it flexed, also put the TC linkage back in place. Didn't get much done but now I know what I need in order to get my 89 drivable again. Another radiator, fix hole in gas tank, Ujoint for rear driveshaft, easy out 1 of the ujoint strap bolts out of the yoke, driver side unit bearing AGAIN, steering column torx bolts AGAIN, straighten steering wheel, new windshield, nake a cage seal off the cab somehow and weld up the hole where I put the seat through the floor. just to give you an idea of how far over everything moved, this is even after I straightend the roof and door some! The doors open and close fine now though  here's the little guy that I've been daily driving, can't complain about the 25ish mpgs :D
  10. Nice cherocar and beautiful manche! Welcome to the club! We have a CC pow wow in Moab September 13-15th if you're headed to Moab around then we have a few members meeting up and camping that weekend, XJs are welcome!
  11. I have an original set I might be willing to sell... They were going to find there home on my 87 but if they're that desirable ill sell them
  12. Happy Father's Day to all the dads on here! Glad my dad always liked jeeps and passed the bug on to me :D
  13. He was asking 850 and wouldn't budge much, needs a fuel pump, floors, brake lines and shocks and most of the front suspension stuff was rusty too and the rear bumper will make you wanna get a tetanus shot before you go near the truck hahah
  14. Most people upgrade to a dual diaphragm booster and a ram 2500 master or a E350 master cylinder when running full width axles. Post pics!
  15. No problem lol I bolted it to the frame/hitch using 3 1/2" grade 8 bolts on both sides. 2 horizontially and 1 through the top and welded the bumper around the angle. I can get you more pics if you need -nick

    Tan Chief

I was looking through Craigslist 2 days ago and saw the tan chief in toms river NJ, told my friend and he wanted it as a new daily driver. It's an 88 6cyl auto 4x4 swb with around 180k on it.. So yesterday we set off to go get it around 230... Sat in traffic forever going around nyc, got to the guys house after 7 and its a little rougher than the pics showed. We passed on it as he wouldn't come down on price and it needed a decent amount of work to get it road worthy. Got a few pics for you guys since its a tan chief and I've never seen one :) sitting in traffic for 3 hours was fun The frame was starting to rot and the previous owner used it as a plow truck in PA so the frame rails in front of the coils was less than stellar as well but it had a 3rd brake light and the tailgate was mint oh well, well get another one soon
  17. That's on the list, much farther down the list! I was able to put the doors back on and they both open and close now :) still have to tweak the pass side a-pillar a little so a new windshield fits well
  18. You have the ability to make some pretty rad stuff and you put on ugly plastic tj flares?! Don't flake out dude keep going with the fab! Everything else looks pretty sweet
  19. Thanks dude! I was going to buy a cherokee before they got me the new manche and every single one of them said the only thing they could see me driving is a comanche so they got me one :) As for the plans... its finally getting the cage I always wanted but not like this  oh well! I plan on cutting the roof off just below the drip rails around the b pillars and about 2-3" behind the windshield and building a simple cage. The roof will get straightened out as best as it can and ill make it a removable "hardtop" so I can take the doors and roof off :rock on: I want it to be totally sealed to the elements because for 6-7 months out of the year I need an enclosed cab. I'm still on the lookout for a front Dana60 at a reasonable price and possibly 40" tires 8) I need a new windshield, driver side axle shaft for the rear 44 so I can drive it again and to weld/braze a small hole in the gas tank from the rollover then I can do this again :driving:
  20. Probably not, Its staying a clean little truck with some enhancements  Ill include it into this thread
  21. dude thats not fair! Ive been looking for one for months!
  22. Not my computer background but my iPhone background for almost a year now. Just love this angle
  23. I took a girl out on a date not too long ago and she kept denying that I was driving a jeep and saying that it was a pickup... I said you're right it's a Jeep pickup and I doubt you'll ever ride in another one hahah
  24. Google maps says its a 36 hour drive for me, ill be there for more than 3 days so count me in for the harder stuff
