Lift In Front For Clearing 37" Tires
Dirteatr717 replied to Whisslaren's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I've seen as low as 3" lift on an xj that was bumpstopped correctly and performed very well. I'm currently around 5" of lift and could fit a 37" fine if I trimmed a little more. I'm also going to be running 37s on fullwidths within the next couple weeks. Here is Cherokee chiefs Manche on 37s with around 5.5" of lift. http://comancheclub.com/topic/36012-cherokee-chiefs-89-lwb-pioneer-build/page__st__40#entry374335 -
You can try flickr.com, Imgur.com and as mentioned already picturetrail are all pretty easy to use

Welcome! Since you own a LJ I'm sure you know parts add up very quick but if it's a rust free truck and needs minor things it's well worth that price! Get to work :wrench:

Yup it's for a bank vault, you set it for however many hours you'd like and it will not be able to be opened until all timers have gone off. Pretty cool when there taken apart. My dads a locksmith so I have a few kicking around

Yup! Check out the Moab Pow Wow 2013 thread. To stay on topic here's a little something you guys can take a guess what it is :D

My Badass Metric-Ton Comanche Build! (The End)
Dirteatr717 replied to MancheKid86's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Looks a lot colder up there then here! Stroker!!! What do you have in mind parts wise? 4.2 stuff and The .030 pistons and what else!? -
My mom has a 99 k2500, rides nice and has all the bells and whistles and tows very nicely. Growing up we would fit 5 people a great Dane and all of our stuff in it and usually a trailer with dirtbikes or firewood for our weekend roadtrips to my other house in the mountains. Gets about 10 mpg all packed up and sometimes we squeeze 14 out of it down the highway

13-15th is fine with me! I'll be camping it throughout 95% of my trip so a shower here and there sounds nice hahah
-
Don't remember what my registration is for my truck but my Camaro was 220 but that included new plates.... Most of the prices for anything in NY are double anywhere else and half of it is tax! Grrrr

Didn't get many pics but I did stop to take these at some local trails. We had close to 3 feet in some spots but a decent amount of snow melted so we were able to make it through some trails instead of me plowing them like this one haha Also picked up some 35spline D60 shafts today for 50 bucks and they only have 4k miles on them! Couldn't resist putting the spool on... I did clean them before I put em on my living room carpet... Otherwise my mom would kill me :D

You forgot hiding parts under your bed because there's no more room in the garage!
-
I'm making it about a 2 week trip there and back and wheeling/ camping with you guys in Moab for the weekend

Jim I think I may have to meet you on my cross country trip this summer and check out all the awesome and unheard of things you have. Can we make a Jim tab already I think he deserves it! :D
-
Honestly I'd just clearcoat it and call it good, but that's just me! If you do end up painting then what about a dark grey or gunmetal.. It all depends on the color of your truck

Tankertom's 89 Comanche
Dirteatr717 replied to M1A1TankerTom's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
You're better off snapping stock axle shafts than destroying the ring and pinion, at least if you break a shaft you can change it on the trail and carry on but if you destroy the r&p your kinda done for the day. At least that's how I look at it. Just carry some spare stock shafts  -
Saved another one! Doesn't look to be too beat up! Just wondering you got the box tapped for assist ports, what are your plans for the truck?

'68 Plymouth Barracuda Notchback
Dirteatr717 replied to Rymanrph's topic in Member Projects: Other Cool Stuff
Sweet! I agree with Jpjim, I'd just drive it like that :driving: -
Some areas got over 3 feet overnight which is kind of a lot in the northeast lol. We haven't gotten more than like 6" in like 3 years although it has snowed the past two halloweens and that was about it in some areas. I think the news stations were freaking out because of the wind gusts and how badly they affected the northeast during hurricane sandy

looks good, may your axle shafts not snap and your unit bearings not explode :rotf: -
Were all comanche guys so we know where to place our tires so we/you don't get hungout too bad if at all, I'm not looking to do the hardest stuff out there over 2k miles from home but I will have fun! ill be spooled f/r on 37s :) for the trip
