  1. Try wiggling the window frame or window when you're not driving to see if it's moving at all? Just turn the music up louder :D
  2. If you end up trying to find a later model external bell housing or ax15 tranny for that matter with low miles good luck because there pretty hard to find! As far as fluids for your tranny try using a synchromesh fluid. It's a lot less harsh on the synchros. Good luck!
  3. In my 89 with 4.0 ax15 with 33s and 3.07s I can get it to gain speed uphill in 4th if you use the skinny pedal BEFORE the hill and keep the rpms above 2200... Downshift and use your right foot
  4. I'm still unsure of exactly how to go about rebuilding it but it will look awesome no matter what! itll be back in no time so I can check out that fresh paint! @ComancheKid I'm still kind of in shock, every time I pass my driveway or walk down to my garage and see two manches I get pretty excited :D
  5. check out my "bad night" thread in the pub, short story is, I rolled it and messed up my shoulder and started taking it apart as much as I can with 1 arm :wrench: can't thank my friends enough for what they did! As for structural supports I'm going to put some 1.5x3 .120wall box to the frame after I plate it. I'd use at least 2x4 from the pinch seam out to protect the sides of your rockers and bottom of your doors a little otherwise your just protecting 1.5" of surface under your rockers lol
  6. The OPs truck and mine are the same color and I have the original paperwork from the dealer that says its Baltic metallic blue. Chrysler paint code DT8912. It says you can order spray paint cans from here http://www.paintscratch.com/touch_up_paint/Jeep/1989-Jeep-All-Models-Dark-Baltic-Blue-Metallic-Clearcoat-HQ9-CE.html
  7. They're not finished yet so they will have aupports to the frame but they're also 3/16 thick and being as long as they are the load spreads pretty evenly
  8. Well since my truck no longer looks nice anymore... after messing up my shoulder pretty bad and my truck, all my friends put together some money and bought me another truck and surprised me with it because I was a little down in the dumps about my baby being crushed. So after I get a little more movement out of my shoulder I can start chopping the roof and straightening some body panels and start on my cage and soft top! And here's all my awesome friends B) once I start making some cage progress ill make some updates
  9. My rockers and cab corners were in great shape and I was scared to cut them at first but I just got some 2x6x3/16 at work and this is the result. Not hard to do and if you split the other 12 feet of a full length with a friend with a cherokee can do the same  I cut along the pinch seam and welded the box tube to the sheetmetal, after I wash my truck id like to put some paintable silicone over all the welds just incase theres a leaky spot. They're tucked up higher than regular sliders and can be used as a base for a cage after proper structural supports :wrench:

  11. I think I'm going to try brazing my gas tank and I ordered another plastic valve cover. It'll get me on the road faster since I have to pay for parts for 2 manches!
  12. I don't have any close ups on my phone, they didnt even get scratched! ill post some daytime pictures tomorrow
  13. Got a couple questions for both of my manches :hmm: First! My 89 has a small hole in the bottom corner of my gas tank from my rollover, if I straighten out the hole it seems like it could be either welded back up after fully cleaning it out and letting all the gases out or maybe slapping some JB weld on it? Or should I try to find a replacement 15 gal tank? Second! My 87 has the 2.5 with a plastic valve cover cracked in about 10 places, should I bother spending the money on a metal one or get a new plastic one again? Third! the guage cluster in my 87 stopped working and the gas gauge didnt work so I pulled it all apart and wiggled the needle and disconnected the plugs and put them back in the way I took them out and now none of my gauges work :(
  14. Its called Baltic metallic blue, I have the same color  Even though they don't have our color theres still some there for other people http://www.quadratec.com/products/92156_20XX_PG.htm
  15. Well sunday night I went wheeling with some friends and ending up rolling off a cliff and landing back on my tires, had my good friend brett (cherokee_chief) drive my truck out for me in fwd and gas leaking out of the tank and glass everywhere. i couldnt use my left arm at all so I couldnt drive at all. fast forward to today, I was going to look at a 2 door cherokee to use as a daily and all my friends said they couldnt see me driving a cherokee. My friend brandon was suppose to drive me to go check out said cherokee and told me hes running late. 2 minutes later a parade of all my good friends came flying around the corner with horns and sirens blaring and said they have a surprise for me and 2 seconds later my friend Brandon who I owe big time for everything hes done for me came in hot with another comanche on a tow dolly and every said surprise don't flip this one! can't thank them enough!
  16. hahaha Ill see what I can get done with 1 arm! Ill be working on both later this week when I can actually move my left hand! Thanks man! can't thank my friends enough!
  17. I'm returning the favor friday! party at mi casa! Saturday we shall wrench away ! :rock on: :group beer:
  18. I was suppose to look at a 2 door cherokee around 6pm today to get as a daily as my truck is kind of undriveable because of my accident. So my friend came over to pick me up at 5:30 and about 2 minutes later a parade of all my friends came down the block with another comanche on a tow dolly and said its all mine. I'm proud to say I have some AWESOME friends! So about the truck! Its a 87 2.5-ax4 thats 2wd with a D35 but its still a rust free manche and I think the odometer has 230k? Came witha tan interior, vinyl floormat, a clock! and a few extra parts! Its going to get some lovin this weekend to be drivable while I fix my main baby :) Ill post pics later!
  19. this is a result of going on a nightine wheeling adventure on a hillclimb and there was a 12-15 foot cliff to the right blocked by bushes and I was paying attention to the left side because there was a fallen tree and next thing I know I'm teetering and then did a full roll and landed rubber side down again. I'm looking at another mj today to cut the too off and maybe picking up a tudor cherocar as a daily
  20. Here's a daylight pic, the driver door still closes and opens fine lol the rest of it isn't exactly straight anymore. Every window shattered or fell out except the driver vent window so there's glass everywhere and I'm still brushing it off my skin :(
  21. This. If it were my truck and it's always been in the family, I'd try and keep it alive. Being that you also had your axles coming together and wheels/tires already figured out, you should really steady the course. it's not going anywhere don't worry B) once I can start turning some wrenches you'll see the progress! I didn't break any bones but I separated all my ligaments and my clavicle from my shoulder. It feels lovely!
  22. I had my cage all planned out! Just needed to buy the tube and I would've had a cage already. Guess I'm a little late on that one huh? I've been thinking about either a cage and a hardtop or finding a victim in a JY to chop the tops. Also need a swb gas tank as mine has a gash in it
  23. Guess it's time for a cage and a hardtop/softtop... Did a full roll to the right down a hill and landed on my tires. Thankfully Brett (cherokee chief) drove my truck a mile or so out of the woods to a main highway despite The gas tank pissing, coolant leaking and no freaking headlights and the rear driveshaft fell out so I only had fwd... I'm at the hospital now getting xrays.
  24. I've been jumping my truck quite often lately and the 30 seems to be holding up, I have to change ujoints every so often with 33s but an open front on 35s will be fine
  25. I guess you could say I get pretty frustrated with stuff hahah and thanks man, she'll get there eventually
