The "get Me By" Mj Truggy
Dirteatr717 replied to cgmrdc's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
I was excited to see more after seeing the boatsides and then saw the roof coming off and didn't really like it too much anymore... Good thing you saved the truck but you didn't really save much! Hopefully the toob comes out very badass and makes up for the lack of Comanche that's left haha -
I had to get a metric bolt that was 130mm long and put it in the right way and was able to put the oil filter on fine, yours might've been slightly longer? Also last night my starter committed suicide and Cherokee_chiefs fell out while he was driving down the highway... Weird indeed. So I cleaned my battery posts and put a new duralast starter in my truck this morning and new fuel filter.

I'm pretty sure it was 5 or 6 sheet metal screws then the 4 bolts for the shifter itself, as for my axles I Think about it everyday haha. don't bother with fullwidths and 35s, thats about the equivalent of stock if not smaller tires an stock axles for ground clearance.Update: Got my brown dog motor mounts in after work today, works been kicking my butt so I havent been motivated to do it! Also my Pass side MM bolt was put in backwards from the factory as the bolthead is facing the firewall and won't come out unless you remove the oil filter adapter and I wasnt about to do that so I cut the bolt off and got 2 new ones at the hardware store. pics of course... The originals were kinda toast :fs2:

why bother getting a new one if your not going to put any fluid in the new one? Save yourself the time and 30 bucks by leaving the broken one in there :D

Most Reliable Axle Swap Possible
Dirteatr717 replied to tcw0409's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Youll be able to get to some pretty remote places with 33s and a locker, sounds like a 30/8.8 with discs is what would fit you best  -
Just placed my order for the D60 disc brake brackets, coil bucket/lca/shock mounts and added a .99ยข ballistic weld on skull because it wouldn't be badass without one. Also ordered a 4x8 sheet of 1/8" to make frame stiffys and I have a 3.5'x 1' sheet of 1/4 to use for gussets and a smaller front axle truss. Need to install motor mounts, new exhaust manifold and need to buy Rear 35 spline axle shafts (other ones were wrong length) Rear hubs Axle yolks Tires Then I can swap my axles!

Most Reliable Axle Swap Possible
Dirteatr717 replied to tcw0409's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Cherokee_chief daily drives his on 37s, as will I. A 44-9" is a good combo but only for 35s isn't worth the money to build them. Have you considered waggy axles? I'm currently building fullwidth D44/D60 axles -
I'm in for the rockclimbing at some point while I'm there, I've done 100' walls without any gear so I'm gunna have a blast!

Those Of You With Soa
Dirteatr717 replied to M1A1TankerTom's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I *think* I have 4.5" rustys coils and 1.75" poly spacers and pretty healthy 4wd leafs. Sits perfect in my opinion. -
Still Clanking Sounds During Right Turns
Dirteatr717 replied to Blue88Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Could be hub bearings, could be worn out control arm bushings. Check anything that moves in the front end! also for the seals if you have The original d30 with the vacuum disconnect the pass side axle seal is next to the vacuum disco, you have to remove the axle shaft to squeeze a new one in there, the driver side is even more fun it's in the housing so when you take the cover off to inspect the Spider gears take a look at the seal
