  1. Just picked these up for cheap, the Jeep set is 17" and the aftermarket ones are 16", these should fit the 'manche right?

  3. If the wiring problems are due to vermin, you can repair them yourself with minimal investment but it could take some time depending on the extent of damage. Keep in mind that just one necessary signal conductor can dead line your vehicle.

  7. OP, my MJ has a similar symptom, right at 55-60 mph, there's some vibration coming from the driveshaft. I had it balanced once and they almost got it perfectly balanced but the problem came back after a few months. The driveshaft on my truck is the "rubber sandwich" type, and this rubber is old and coming off causing the imbalance/vibration. I will not get it re-balanced again since I will be installing a lift and the shaft may have to get re-tubed/lengthened. Maybe the problem with yours is at the driveshaft, check it out.

I converted mine a few years ago by doing the following: New compressor, expansion valve, receiver/drier, replaced all o-rings to the 134a type (green/purple), completely flushed condenser, evaporator and all hoses. A quick google search can reveal you the specifications for oil (PAG) and refrigerant charge, IIRC you have to use 15% less 134a refrigerant than the R12 quantity specified. For the fittings, you can find the kit at any auto parts store, this will allow you to use the 134a hose connections for your gauges or A/C service machine. My conversion went very well, it gets ice cold even in the hot summer days here in the south. My 2.8L setup was equipped with a mechanical fan which was replaced with an electric fan setup which helps a bunch with A/C performance when stuck in traffic.

  11. I fought all mentioned leak sources here and eventually gave up and "engineered" some drain holes on the floor pan...water leaks in, then it immediately drains out, no carpet installed...

  16. Agreed. At one point I considered a headlight upgrade consisting of the H4 conversion or LED with some added relays. After I began to gather the wiring and readying it for some hacking, I discovered a harness connector badly corroded as well as the connectors at the headlamps. I eliminated the harness connector by soldering all the wires and I cleaned up and tightened the headlamp connectors. Turned the lights on after the task was done and the lights were so bright I did not want/need LEDs anymore, bought some steaks and beer with the savings

If you're certain it's in bypass mode and the pedal stomping is not resetting the valve, maybe it's time to remove the valve from the distribution block and check for damaged o-rings, maybe it's stuck with contamination. When I removed this valve in my 'manche, I could not believe the amount of crud on it, I guess it was due to it sitting unused for 10+ years...
  19. Agreed, carb tune and operational cat air supply system will clean up emissions. Also, ensure the choke is operating properly, it may be contributing to the high CO reads...

I don't think I could convince myself to do anything with the 2.8L, although the one in my 'manche came from a Camaro and supposedly it was "refreshed the right way", whatever that means, according to the guy that sold it to me. I did remove the valve covers and oil pan and to my surprise, it was pristine clean, like fresh out of the machine shop. So I threw in a HV/HP pump and installed it, replacing the original 2.8L with a rod knock. Once the installation was completed, the damn thing started on the first crank and has been taking hell since the summer of 2016. I will run it till it dies or I find a manual tranny for the GM or Dodge V8 swap.
  22. It sure does, but a tranny-mounted starter and flexplate side throttle body. I do like the clearance mods made to fit the FWD GM sedans though, but not sure I'd keep the ax5 behind the beast...on the lookout for a deal on a GM/Dodge NV35-5600.
  23. I reckon the picture is not clear. Just to make sure I order the correct upgrade items, my cart contains the following MOOG parts: DS1238 x1 (XJ) DS1312 x1 (ZJ) ES3096L x2 (ZJ) ES2079S x2 (ZJ) I will be installing these together with a 4-5" lift, is a Pitman arm or any other steering component required/recommended?
