  1. And remember if you're going to replace the entire column to take the bolt completely out [not just loose] where the steering shaft meets the steering box.
  2. I run Silverstars during the summer and Gamblers during the winter.
  3. I went with Columns Galore in NY State: http://www.columnsgalore.com/. Got a fresh rebuilt painted the color I wanted, new turn signal and wiper mechanism, new ignition tumbler and keys, with our without cruise. Just add turn a signal stalk, hazard button, steering wheel, and then throw it in your rig. Very easy.
  4. Thanks for posting this up. I saw this exact set of instructions years ago and then lost the bookmark to it. Looks like I have a(nother) project for this weekend.
  5. I think you've figured out exactly what's causing the wobble. Better get to tightening and loctite-ing the bolts or replacing the column [which is what I did with a freshly rebuilt one... easier IMO]. You don't want to have something catastrophic to happen while you're out enjoying a drive.
  6. I use a dual-trumpet airhorn I picked up from AutoZone a few years back. It is wired to an aux horn button on the dash and is very piercing. The sound is similar to a Ferrari/Lamborghini/RoachCoach air horn.
  7. IIRC when Peugeot pulled out there were new cars sitting unsold on lots 2 years later.
  8. Just looking at the rig makes me want to go get a tetanus shot. However, on the bright side the rear slider appears intact as do various interior bits, so there's something in its favor.
  9. LOL nice MPG there. I did that when I had fatfingered the mileage when entering it.
  10. Now it has to be down by October 20th. Anyone holding their breath? http://www.texasmonthly.com/story/playboy-marfa-must-go-real-time
  11. Did you reinstall the rod on the outside of the column when you put the column back together? The ignition switch pushes the rod which in turn pushes a button/switch that engages the starter. The button/switch the rod pushes is spring loaded to push back the rod, which makes the ignition return to the 'run' position instead of remaining in 'start'. I am on my 3rd tilt column in my rig and have pulled on the rod on the outside of the column inadvertently while changing one, engaging the starter (much to my surprise).
  12. Masked, primed, and painted the bed canopy/topper over the Labor Day weekend. I found that Rust-oleum's Antique White is an almost perfect match for AMC's Clearcoat Beige.
  13. Those Tubines are CLEAN but ouch to the price. The 10-hole wheels with faux-studs are my favorite. :) I had a set with bad finish that I used as winter wheels before I picked up some powdercoated Gamblers for winter duty.
  14. Am I the only one who got this???? Hahaha,,,maybe because I'm dating one currently. Btw, jalopnik is usually on the mark, but on this list they missed the bullseye by 20 freakin miles. I'm glad someone caught this. :)
  15. This is the one I bought when it was around $155 on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/C-R-LAURENCE-Duo-Vent-1986-1992-Comanche/dp/B004ARJXUM/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top. Note my review on installation.
  16. Get the poly sway bar bushings instead of rubber. I did this a year ago and wish I would have done it a long time before, especially since my MJ is my DD. Stays nice and flat on highway ramps and sweeping curves.
  17. The Lincoln Mark series had all sorts of goofball editions back in the 70s and 80s... all forgettable until the introduction of the Mark VII LSC... that was the one to have.
  18. OMG I sent that in like a month ago to Jalopnik. Since it didn't come up with any speed in NCOCP I thought they discarded it.
  19. Don't forget about the LL Bean edition Subarus and Lane Bryant edition Goodyear blimps. ;)
  20. For your review: http://jalopnik.com/the-ten-worst-special-edition-car-names-1177454187 Numero uno is relevant to your interests.

    Rock Auto

No complaints about Rock Auto other than with shipping you're about breaking even vs. a local parts shop. Fast shipping- placed motor mount order on a Thursday and had them in hand the following Tuesday... and that's from being shipped 3 time zones away.
  22. ...aaaand again in the media. http://jalopnik.com/how-playboy-pissed-off-an-artsy-west-texas-town-1167416685
  23. When Google Streetview came by my neighborhood they got not only my Comanche, but me loading up yard debris in by the side of the house for free yard debris day at the local landfill. I can tell you exactly what day it was they came by in 2012.
  24. Fourthed on the SMS headliner. Super happy with mine even though I was careless and put a 1" rip in it from a picture frame only a few weeks after putting it in.
  25. Sorry to confuse you but I mean a 1986 Vw rabbit pick up called caddy aswell I'm sure he was aware what you meant. Besides, there's already Cadillac trucks: flower cars from the funeral industry.
